  1. Looks wicked mate. It seems to be just fine the way it is without the colour coding. Starting to feel like it is an import from the Middle East though. Not a bad thing, just something completely different for our market. Props for your style.
  2. Food sounds good... KK? :D I'm dying for wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce *drools* haha I might be out depending on the weather though. I'm dying for nachos. The Flames (?, I keep thinking Flickey's, damn you Simpsons) at the BP Stapylton has some good cheap nachos, lol. Shame the Krispy Kreme there closes at 7pm. Distance probably wouldn't be best suited for everyone though; I just had my craving ignited from the thought of some delicious wedges. Oh yeah, I should be out tomorrow night without a doubt. Edit: It appears that it's most likely going to be a wet one tonight. So is it a meet at 'train'?
  3. While on the topic then, I did yet another calculation. Man it seems that I do a bit of driving. After travelling a total of 12781km over the past 5 months (and after $2165 and 1420.46 litres of fuel), my average fuel consumption is sitting at 11.1L/100km. So it has progressively gone up from 10.4 to 10.8 and now to 11.1. This is justifiable though since I've noticed my driving has not relaxed but gone the complete opposite. I'm stating to get too used to my car that I need to give it more to get the same feel. Oh well.
  4. Oh such jealously that is building up inside. Stupid student budget that ties me down.
  5. Cant anything be done to fit em? Cut through and make space for it? Bit of a bummer. They didn't look so large in the pic. I guess if one was really eager, you could make it fit. I'm to pov and too lazy to cut the bumper, so I guess I can rule those out. Well I guess the single tip version would fit then right?
  6. Mine has a factory defect where one exhaust isn't sitting perfectly in the centre. One side is actually touching a bit of the bumper. No problems there. But then again the stock tips probably don't get hot on the outside due to the crappy design. I'm thinking of getting the Varex dual tip and enlarging the space to make the tips fit.
  7. +1 You're fuel economy is worse not due to the exhaust but probably due to your foot.
  8. I've had transmission flare from 2nd to 3rd as well, but this only occurs when the engine is cold in the morning (such as when the temperature gauge is around the 1/8th mark or less). Never ever experienced any hard shifts. It's sometime hard to recreate any issues you may have, so I wish you luck with Toyota because that sounds like it should be checked out if it is happening on a warm engine.
  9. It's wicked to see that the ball seems to be rolling with greater force with respect to modifications on the Aurion. Before I know it, I'm going to be way behind with my stock Aurion.
  10. Damn. That gap is pretty serious. I guess Toyota had it designed to fit their aftermarket head units. They just had to do everything different didn't they. Maybe the one from fascias.com.au wasn't such a bad purchase after all dannywss? Let us know about the fitment.
  11. I'm not sure of what vibration you are talking about exactly. I do get this vibration when stopped... but it only happens occasionally, and is very minor. It's kind of similar to when an engine mount goes bust. It doesn't happen much, but when it does you can usually feel it through the brake pedal and seat. I remember skipping over something about the engine mount in the service manual, so I looked it up after the first time I noticed the vibration and I figured that because my issue was only occasional and very minor, it probably would just be the engine mount being 'out of sync'. So what I gather is that the mount vibrates at an exact opposite to the way the engine vibrates. AS a result, vibration is reduced similar to the way noise cancelling headphones work. But for that to all happen, the vibration has to be pretty spot on. I'm guessing that it can't always be 100% Anyways, that's all in relation to the vibration I'm getting. I'm not too sure about yours.
  12. When you install a remote starter, you have the option of using it. On my last one, you held one button down for two seconds and it beeped; then if you pressed it for another two seconds (within five seconds) the car would start. Otherwise, you should just use the lock and unlock buttons as per a normal remote central locking system.
  13. My last car I used to remote start it to let it warm up for at least 5 minutes before driving it. As well it would mean the heater was at the perfect temperature. With my Aurion, I figured that if Toyota states in their manual to drive it to bring it to operating temperature, then that would be the correct way to do it for this car. I thought about the remote start for this car after having one in the past, but I figured that I didn't want to compromise the factory immobiliser. If I did go the remote start approch, I would also be building a keyless ignition. I've got plans drawn up for it, it's just the chipped key that I need to override. Can be done, but I'm not 100% on going through with it.
  14. I would agree with marc2020 with respect to how long it takes. When I go to the gym (the coldest time I start it), by the time I get there, it is pretty much horizontal on the temperature gauge. That is after 4-5 minutes of driving averaging about 60km/h.
  15. Same here. That's also when it quiets down a fair bit. It's quite a noticeable level in sound. In the first 30 seconds I can hear the car running while upstairs; after that, I can barely hear it.
  16. Damn. Two extra problems for me now. I know where the place is, and I know the price of it. Add that to the third problem which is that I can't control my spending and this is going to be serious.
  17. I've seen people with Gen 6 Camry's over in the states doing a staggered wheel setup on there car. I think they are aware of the fact that it's pointless on a FWD. It's all about looks for those guys.
  18. From my understanding after reading his post in the other thread (Steering Wheel buttons), JIN only has the functionality of his steering wheel DISP button. I don't think his audio controls are active. To enable the use of the DISP button, he has plugged the circuit board of the stock stereo into the steering wheel harness. Sits completely separate to the new head unit. It may be a messy solution, but if anyone can come up with a better solution, I will pay them for it.
  19. How long would you define as forever in this scenario? One thing that I was surprised by about my Aurion when I first got it was how fast it got to operating temperature. You are driving it to warm the engine up right? The manual states not to let it idle to warm up, rather drive it gently. Usually you can keep it below 3000RPM during this stage. As for the noise, mine is kinda noisy for the first 30-60 seconds after starting, but afterwards it is nice and quiet. It hasn't been quite as cold here, but a few mornings when going to the gym it was around the 8 degree mark. No real difference in the car warming up really.
  20. It appears that he now has one from fascias.com.au: Quick Question about facia kit Previously, it appears that he had an Aerpro one: Toyota Aurion Double Din??? Either way, you can get one directly from Toyota for around $35.
  21. I was considering the idea for a roof-spoiler for mine after seeing this. It's on a Camry, but I would assume that it would fit our Aurion: Source: ToyotaNation - eyelids + roofwing installed.
  22. In general and not talking about a specific unit, going for a aftermarket stereo with built in navigation unit is surely a good upgrade. Those Navman's and TomTom's were starting to sell really cheap and prior to my head unit, I had the idea of buying one just because they were so cheap. I then thought that I would never use it because it's all gimmicky, so I never bought it. When I got my new head unit, I was quite surprised when I actually started using the navigation. It is so much easier than having to plan the trip first. The addition of a bluetooth handsfree built in was another selling point. In my last car, I had a Pioneer head unit with bluetooth, and once you use that, you can't live without. Apart from that, I haven't really used any other feature of my head unit. I guess in the end, most of it came down to the aesthetics. It really improved the look in the interior and made the car look more luxury since the stock head unit was pretty cheap looking. It all comes down to personal preference. I couldn't really stand the way my Aurion looked with the stock stereo. Sure the 6-stacker MP3 was all I really needed, but it just didn't fit in so great.
  23. You will always have both sides of the argument. In most cases, you get what you deserve. You don't learn much by dying though. If you were seriously injured, then there are lessons to be learn. The thing with people like those that were shown on TT the other night is that they may be defending themselves in that situation saying that the surroundings were safe, but I could bet that they are the types of people that would drive like maniacs on the road as well. Any form of racing or dangerous driving on the road is never suitable, regardless of whether the road is empty or not. Yeah... and what if he locks his wheels at high speed? I'm in no way trying to be an advocate with this whole fight against hooning. It's never really going to stop; it's just the mindset that these people have that's so stupid.
  24. I'll admit, I did some crazy stuff while on my P's. There's no excuse for my driving back then, but I can say I'm glad I had only a 4 cylinder Camry. No matter what, there is always going to be reckless P platers. It's just you have those that are responsible enough to know where to draw the line, then you have the ones that are just plain stupid. If any of you saw Today Tonight the other night... now that's serious stupidity.
  25. I'll be out tomorrow night as well. I don't see why not.
