Just wondering if anyone has sheepskin seat covers in their Aurion. I'm interested in sheepskin seat covers for front & rear. Any Ideas?

Sheepskin covers in Summer...emm...

It might be good in winter time tho..

Unless Toyota has some (read: $$$$$$$$$$$$$) you may have a hard time finding them because the normal Repco/Stupidcheap ones aren't reccommended due to the side airbags not being able to deploy properly..

I was never really a fan of sheepskin seat covers. But that's cause I can get sweaty quite a bit and moisture and wool don't go down too good.

As for the airbag compatibility with the eBay ones, you need to ask the question 'would I trust it?'. I would suggest looking at one in person if you could to see if they have made the side outer area weaker to enable effective deployment of the airbags should they ever be required. Even though you may never need them, safety should always be the highest priority so don't get a questionable seat cover in favour of style.

1 thing I hate about sheepskin is that if you leave them on for a very long time and don't ever take it out it usually sticks to the seat which then ruins it big time.

Can someone describe the exact issue with the wrong seat covers and the air bag effects please?

How does the cover cause the issue?

Thanks.

In the Aurion (and other cars with the feature as well) the airbags deploy from the side portion of the seats. The seat material itself is constructed so that when the airbag deploys, it will break through the material easily. If you put seat covers over it that aren't designed properly, they can alter the way that the airbag deploys by causing it to inflate in the incorrect direction, slowing down inflation time (which in an accident is extremely critical; the airbag can inflate in as little as 70 milliseconds), or prevent it from fully inflating at all.

Seat covers that are designed for such use will have special stitching, perforations, and/or weakened areas in the position of the airbag so that the airbag will push though it with ease and inflate correctly.

For ease of identifying, your seat airbag deploys near the location indicated by the 'SRS SIDE AIRBAG' tag attached to the seat. For lack of a better image, you can see in this illustration the side seat airbag which deploys just above the area indicated by the tag on the seat:

First up, apologies for dredging up a billion year-old thread....but i just had to post, as there's always somebody who wants to know about sheepskins for their car etc.

I have now just fitted rear seat sheepskin cover for my Aurion - and I am rapt!

It's the first time I have had installed quality sheepskins, front and rear...these cost me about $1020 the whole lot (inc ship).

These are nice, they don't moult like most other sheepskins I have bought over the years. There's almost no moulting at all.

i only vacuum my car every 2 months, and most of the crap I pick up is sand and seed, hardly any wool - ever!

And I never have a problem with with 'wool dust' getting into the electrics/switches, it's just not an issue...testament to the quality of these seat covers.

i have atached pics, but they are quite large (+4MB - each!).

If anyone wants to know the link where I got these covers, it's here;-

Hi all, I,m with Miklos73 on the subject of Sheep skin seat covers .As we have full Leather interior in our ZR6 the one thing we wanted was to protect the seats. We have front and rear 100% sheep skin covers not the cheap a*se synthetic sh*t :nono: .Our covers are fully lined and we nourish our seats twice a year when we remove the covers and give them all a good airing and clean and we are yet to find any rubbish lodged down the back of the seats, and the leather is like it was when we first bought the car.

If you do get them, like everything, you get what you pay for.The ones we got conform perfectly to the sports seats, are airbag compatable, and are cool in summer and warm in winter.

We have sheepskin cover in the Subaru Forester (with side air bags) ..... love them . Going to get a set for the Aurion .

The covers where custom made by jumbuck sheepskins - http://www.jumbucksh....com/index.html

The cost is a little high approx $700.00 for the front pair , but the quality was great and fit precisely
