hmmm maybe someone on here can help me out.

regarding my spoiler. before i got the wingtips moulded, i took off the spoiler but in this process of taking it off it resulted in one of the screws that was embedded into the spoiler to snap off because it was loose and kept turning with the nut that was used to hold the spoiler down to the body of the car.

here's a picture to help you get a clearer picture of what im trying to get across:

post-11243-128678420073_thumb.jpg

anyway my initial thoughts were ok use some sort of glue araldite or whatever and stick a screw in there as shown below:

post-11243-128678438415_thumb.jpg

What i realised after doing this was using a nut to the bolt to tie down the spoiler to the body of the car will highly depend on the strength of the glue. had 2 attempts at this and first attempt after 10 mins of allowing it to dry simply failed. second attempt it held for a bit but eventually gave in and the glue gave way.

what im now asking is does anyone have other ideas where i can fixate a bolt or screw into that spoiler strong enough as how it was originally made?

the only other idea to fix this is to buy a new levin zr spoiler and get wingtips remoulded but before i seriously think about that, was wondering if anyone had ideas or innovative ways to fix this problem?

thanks in advance. any input would be greatly appreciated!

As the spoiler is most likely ABS, most epoxies dont like bonding to ABS. You will need a special ABS epoxy. Perhaps contact an epoxy or adhesive specialist in your area. Other suggestion is to find a place that does plastic welding, ie bumper repair etc and see what they can do to help you out.Im sure the plastic welding option would be easiest.

Hope that helps

so a bit of the screw is still embedded in the spoiler? It would be better to drill it out then bond/weld the remaining screw in there.

Edit: with 3 other screws its easier to leave out the screw and use double sided tape.

thanks pete i'll look into that and see where that takes me.

hey chicken the old screw is gone its just an empty hole sorry i didn't make that clear. i would use double sided tape where the missing screw is but i dont think double sided tape is strong enough to hold it down.

thanks for the input though!
