As for the trim lines (altise, sportive, etc), I can;t help because ours here are different in the US.

As for the Gen's, they are the style of the Camry. Here in the US, Gen 1 is 83-86, Gen 2 87-91, Gen 3 92-96, Gen 4 97-01, Gen 5 02-06, Gen 6 07-11. Some of those years are 1 year off for you guys in Australia.

Yah a question that has you stumped Adam!

The 02-06 is the gen 5 and gen 5.5 (late 05 update also known as MY06). The model range goes Altise, Altise Sport/Limited (depends on what specials Toyota was doing), Ateva, Sportivo and Azura.

The Altise Sport is a special version for a promotion so it is really just a cut price Sportivo without the Sportivos extras. It has the suspension, some 16inch alloy wheels and the exhaust from the Sportivo packaged in the Altise body.

If you're wanting to get the best Gen 5 or 5.5... go the Sportivo or Azura... I love Azuras, but they're more a luxury version than a Sports version. This also goes for the Gen 3 (aka Widebody) with the Ultima/Grande and the Touring Series...

They did also release a Grande version when they upgraded the gen 5's to 5.5's. The Grande slots just below the Azura in the model range (basically it's an Azura without the bodykit, exhaust and a few interior trim pieces but it did come with full leather, sunroof, GPS etc.)
