Hi guys,

Bought my first Toyota - a 2006 Camry Sportivo ACV40R - in early March this year, and have been lurking around these forums since. It's an amazing place, the vibe is very friendly and there's so much useful information.

My Camry's a November 2006 model (the current shape), and I'm loving driving it around, even though I only get to see it on the weekends. The only thing I've had done to it at this point is getting the windows tinted, but am about to upgrade the in-dash audio system shortly.

I've purchased the TC09X1 from Digoptions last week, and with some luck it should arrive this week. That should add in-dash GPS, Bluetooth, DVD, audio and video to the mix. Will try to take some pics and post them and some opinions when it's all done. I've also added the reversing camera, so that should make parking a little easier (I hope). Feel free to send any questions my way if you need any more information.

Thanks man.

I have to say that I've extremely impressed by what you've done with your car, and the experience you've posted about upgrading your A/V setup is immensely helpful. I'm very seriously considering trading my car in for an Aurion Sportivo in the next 12 months or so ... I think Toyota just got that so right in terms of balancing the practicality, styling and pricing.

Look forward to getting more involved in this community. :)

Hahahah g'day!! Noooooo, stick with the Camry :P Although I must admit the Aurion is very very nice, would have bought one of those if it had manual transmission...

Best of luck whatever you decide to do, audio upgrade sounds fantastic. Btw, your Cam is only 3 months younger than mine :) Tint is also definitely worth it. What colour is it??

The Cam's black, although it hasn't been washed for 6 months since I bought it and is looking a very sad grey ... :( Need to get around to getting it washed and detailed one of these days. Got it tinted by Bob 'The Tinter' in Picnic Point. He's absolutely amazing, highly recommended. Used to own a couple of Solar Tint franchises, been in the game for more than 20 years. The attention to detail he paid was incredible, and he's a genuinely nice guy. Put 28% on the sides, 20% on the back (helps keep the baby cool and safe from the sun), and the car looks awesome!

Am considering getting serious sound done by Marty from SoundFX at Caringbah. He's another guy who loves his craft - incredibly knowledgeable and just loves what he does. The good thing about him is that whatever gets installed can get removed and re-used in the next car, which I'm pretty sure will be either another Camry or an Aurion. Let's see ... pretty hard to justify the outlay when I only get to drive around to do groceries every other weekend! :D

Ok, the GPS Audio / video unit is here! :yahoo:

Showed up at my desk this morning. Have been looking at it and restraining myself to rip the box open and get it out, but will wait till I get home so I don't have to re-pack the box. Will start up a new thread on it shortly, and hopefully put up lots of pics as well. Am getting a mate to come over and install it this weekend assuming both our missuses don't get upset at the boys playing with the toys instead of doing weekend chores. :whistling:

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I just keep reminding myself that I only drive about 30km per week, on the weekends ... but hey, might as well get the groceries in style ... B)

      2001 Toyota Camry wagon passenger side locks not working

      Had a similar issue with my 2003 Camry sedan. I'm think the mechanism might be bit stiff, so removing the door card and spraying the locking cable (the one that pushes the lock knob into the lock and unlock position on the interior door handle) with some Innox might work to loosen up the old grease and get it working again.

      2007 - floor mats

      Hi Ed, Hmm that's a tough one mate ..short of going to Toyota to get genuine and no I doubt they would laugh at you as it's a sale and money is tight right now. I am not sure if you are on Facebook or not but I have seen an advert on there for what looks like superb floor mat sets that do seem excellent quality and a wide range but like most things now they are not cheapish. My best advice is source some good quality ones and search online for someone who offers embroidery as some do tradie shirts and logos on clothing it may be worth a phone call to those sort of places as I know a local one to me does all sorts of work on many things related to embroidery or an alternative choice is the online sites like Temu... EBay etc Let us know how you get on mate good luck. KAA

      2001 Toyota Camry wagon passenger side locks not working

      Gday, I've got a 2001 Camry wagon which has been having locking issues for a while now, just started occurring out of the blue. There is no fob so we manually unlock and lock from the driver side door, however the rear and front passenger doors consistently have issues. Either when we unlock one or both doors don't unlock and must be unlocked from inside the car, or when we lock it one or both don't lock and the car beeps. To fix that, we open the door, lock it from the inside, the lift up the handle and close the door before releasing the handle. That fixes the locking issue. When testing the locks from inside the car, I can see that they partially lock and unlock, so I'm wondering if they need to be replaced entirely or if there's some other way to fix it. Cheers

      2002 Hilux Engine Replacement

      I have a 2002 Hilux that is meant to have a 5le engine but i think it was replaced with a new engine with a turbo before i bought it. Its a different engine compared to what is in the manual - eg the alternator is at the bottom not the top as per the manual. The engine is seized - tried roll starting downhill and wheels just locked up. I cant find what the engine is. Any ideas on where I would find it? Also 5LE engines are hard to find - any ideas on what else i could put in? Does a 1KZ fit?

      Low boost it happens highway 112kmph po299 low boost limp mode gear won't pass 4th even on sports mode when I reset complete normal my engine was rebuilt done 20000km new turbo injector check and good working order I use penrite egr and cat cleaner there was a improvement I didn't get a chance to do over 100 kmph is it fuel air ratio related or valve o2 cat egr map sensor or map filter related? Any thoughts ?

      Boot Dimensions?

      Hi All, Greetings from the UK. I wondered if any kind folk could help me out. I am trying to get hold of some measurements for the boot/trunk of later model Fortuners. Does any know the height, min width (between the stowed 3rd seats) and the min depth from the 2nd row seat backs to the tailgate? Trying to work out if I can get all my luggage on board before I travel. Hope someone can help. Cheers KP
