2003 land cruiser troop carrier camping set up
Gday everyone, I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself and seek advice on land cruiser troop carrier model 2003 I intend to buy. It has a pop top roof and camping gears in the back (fridge, sink, drawers and so on). 320.000km but in good condition, some minimal rust on passenger door and may only need to replace windscreen. Previous owner had original left rear bench seats removed and welded in a small couch but left seatbelts nuts and bolts in place, as shown on pics. I like the idea to bring passengers if needed and would be looking to re install one bench seat or rear forward facing seats. I understand it will all need to be engineered and road worthy once job completed but am still a bit unsure on how to go about all this. Just wondering if anyone here has had experience with this model and replacing seats in general and can provide advice. Apologies for long message, hope it s not a bad start!! Cheers -

a/c pulley bearing replacement 'in car'
Hi Everyone, Im new here and a long term very happy owner of a 2009 Prodigy. This year at 165,000 km I replaced the water pump, alternator, spark plugs + coils along with idler pulleys with the usual filters, serpentine belt etc along the way However has anyone replaced the air conditioner pulley bearing with the a/c compressor with hoses connected by removing its bolts and turning it around on its hoses in the car?? -

2016 Hilux SR5 Coolant Issues
Hi, has anyone had any issues with the Coolant being bypassed in their 2016 Hilux please? This apparently had been done on my ute and I wasn't aware of it. My ute heated and one of the hoses blew off. Is this a result of coolant running out quicker than normal or because of the bypass? I've been told that this has been an issue for this model ute. -

Help - Blowing white smoke
I have previously cleaned the PCV valve a number of times and eventually I ended up replacing it. Something else to do is to clean the vacuum hose between the PCV valve and the intake. -

Help - Blowing white smoke
KLuger and the Aurion both are fitted with the 2GR-FE engine. Specific engines have specific issues. White smoke particularly on start up for the 2GR-FE engine is commonly due to oil vapour being sucked into the intake via the Positive Crankcase Ventilation [PCV] valve. The PCV valve needs to be checked and cleaned or replaced, as required. The 2GR-FE engine is also highly susceptible to oil sludge build up especially in the valve covers when not properly maintained with regular oil changes using quality engine oil. The known solution is to remove the front valve cover and give it a thorough clean to remove the oil sludge build up particularly the area relating to PCV. This enables the oil to drain away more efficiently and effectively to reduce being drawn into the PCV valve. -

Hi, Not a Kluger guru, but white smoke has always meant water / coolant getting into the combustion chambers, it's steam. Oil burns with a bluish smoke. If the sludge in the valve cover was a whiteish colour then that is also a sign of water, in the oil. Herb -

Ok so you were right there was a fair bit of oil sludge build up in the valve cover. The cover was removed thoroughly cleaned, the oil changed then a desludging additive put through and then the oil changed again. The oil looked allot cleaner at the end. Unfortunately I am still getting white smoke on start up. Do i need to leave it a while and will the smoke eventually go away or is it time to replace the PCV valve now or would anyone know if there is something else I need to do now? Any help would be appreciated. -

Oh and one thing tho Melbourne weather in summer it doesn't get that hot like over 30deg winter maybe d coldest 1deg d lowest most of the time but not always so maybe 10w-30 is ok to use and stick to what d manual book said -

Hi I'm just new here I've been using 5w-30 on my 2013 kluger but now d mileage ia gone up 125,000kms i switch to 10w-30 which d owners manual book and I've been reading some of yours comment you's using 5w-40 or 10w-40 aren't they a bit thick after all owners manual recommend 10w-30 and I'm very fuzz about using d rigjt oil aome mention mobil not good i used mobil 5w-30 after 3oookms there's a knock on d engine so i immediately change it back to 5w-30 knock is gone 10w-30 is good quite and reaonable petrol use 5w-30 very economy specially goimg for a long trip so what do u think i should use or should i stick to 10w-30 thx guys
