New clutch kit for sportivo

Recommended Posts

new clutch sounds good...

Quick Q... While driving, as releasing the clutch to take off i hear a winding noise, as if the thrust bearing is rooted... it would be that aye.... not there while sitting at the lights in neutral which suggests input shaft bearing is okay? just to clarify thoughts... so again the noise is when clutch pedal is pressed and thrust bearing is pushing against pressure plate forks...

give monkeywrenchracing.com a visit ..... also suggest u grab the extended push rod from them and all the other bits and pieces surrounding the shifter and cables ..... ARP flywheel bolts are a nice treat also ..... all in all will give u a tighter firmer feel with far more accuracy ..... oh and if ur worried about how long it takes to get here dont worry about that ..... i got all my parts delivered to my door within 5-10 business days of placing my orders.

clutches ...... http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/index.php?cPath=25_111

flywheels & flywheel bolts ...... http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/index.php?cPath=25_132

bits n pieces ..... http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/index.php?cPath=25_136

could also go a lsd if ur feeling excited but that will mean u also need a new 6th gear as u'll probably break it getting the box apart and if u do that then get the celica 6th gear for some awesome fuel savings and lower revs on the freeway ;)

There are 2 brands of clutch and flywheel, which ones are better?

Not exactly sure which one to buy. I heard after putting an aftermarket flywheel, ppl said there will be some noise coming from the flywheel if they are not stock.

What about TRD flywheel, what clutch will this fit into. I was told from my mechanic that some flywheels requires the same matching clutch, like the ORC for example.

I concurr with the aftermarket flywheel comment, Im running the chromoly lightweight flywheel and between 2500 - 3000 rpm it mades a shuddering sometimes.

Just get a Sports organic clutch over a HD clutch with a heavy duty pressure plate. no big difference but the pedal feel is alot stiffer with a heavy duty pressure plate. I broke the clutch spring in my exedy HD clutch. the gearbox is now running smurf blood....smooth as.

Looks like the Exedy (Japan performance part manufacturer ) OEM or HD is the best fit from the comments about 200-300 AUD. But need to get a factory (toyota) flywheel to fit it. And the labour is about 300-450 AUD. To get the hardware is easy today, hunting a machanic is hard, if you rely on dealer from the car born like me.

I think I will get a Exedy OEM one, since my sportivo engine is old, I guess a heavy duty one will consume more engine life. Is that make sense? If it is not, I would like to try the HD one :)

I found something may help for people search Exedy dealer http://www.exedy.com.au/australian-distributors
