Hey Guys,

I know it's frowned upon to promote products on the site but as these are Genuine Toyota Products i feel this is ok, plus its things people are forever asking about!

So first up Toyota has Released a new range of concentrated Injector cleaners that are compatible with D4 engines (Direct injection 4stroke)There's one for petrols and one for diesel, i can personally vouch for these products, we have used them in work vehicles and the difference is noticeable! Especially in the diesels when they are cold no more rattles/knocking, and much smoother and they feel freed up again and it has seemed to of help economy too. I plan on putting a bottle through the Aurion next week when it gets serviced. Its worth noting that because this new range is concentrated it only needs to be put in every 2 years or 40,000kms as opposed to the old Jet stream version that was required around every 10,000kms (Jetstream also wasnt compatible with D4-D engines) anyway for more information check out the attachment. But its a cheap way to clean your engine regain a bit of lost power and economy, loose any hesitations and get back that smooth idle all with the knowledge its a product formulated especially for your Toyota Engine by Toyotas own engineers.

(Really should work in P.R aye?)

*Important to note that this product should only be poured into a fuel tank that is three quarters full be preferable it's best to pour the product in before refuelling.*

Injector Cleaner - 08813-00830 $24.00 (once every 2 year or 40,000kms)

Diesel Injector Cleaner - 08813-00860 $24.00 (once every 2 year or 40,000kms)

Old Jetstream Injector Cleaner- 08813-01000 $9.50ish (once every 10,000kms)

Also Toyota has launched a cleaner/flusher for the aircon systems to clear the system and remove any bacteria and odour that may cause an illness part number for this is from memory is 00821-80830 and cost around $66 anybody who has an aircon that's a bit on the noise this product should be able to fix this problem up for you :)

Attachment won't load sorry guys,mm this isnt the one i was trying to upload but this gives a little more detail http://www.toyota.com.au/parts-and-service/parts/oils-lubricants

Sounds tempting mate but I just don't see how this can work? I've had this car for about 3 months now and since day one its seen nothing but premium(I first used Shell V-power but recently converted to BP Ultimate).

I thought these fuels already had the cleaning chemicals in it and nothing else was needed.

Toyota are also contradicting themselves, if you read the owners manual, it says you don't have to use this stuff.

But your post is very tempting! $24 every two years is nothing and won't kill to try :)

How would you clean sickening airconditioning system with that product ?

Well, while the car is running, you put the injector cleaner into the aircon vents. It's a two in one product! Clean your engine and aircon!! just kidding...

You missed this part mate:

unique: You should do some research on 'Fuel Doctor'. It's all a personal thing but that's what I use.

Wow, that stuff looks pretty good. Reading few reviews before it looks like it does work and also watched the video. As I said it seriously won't kill to try this stuff. It's a very once off thing to do so it can't really hurt in the hip pocket.

But I'm still not quite sure how much to use and when it use? Reading here: http://www.fueldoctors.com/products/automotive/more/21/

It is saying I fill up petrol, and since I have never used this product in the car before, I should shock treat the car with the FULL 275mls then after that I never need to use it again for another 100,000KM?

Every service Toyota puts in Conditioner and Fuel System Cleaner. Is it the same as above? Or injector cleaner is different product?

Hey guys,

Yeah look i promise you will notice a difference and really it's $24.00 every 2 years or 40,000kms that’s nothing i mean what’s a packet of cigarette’s worth these days? Like unique said, it won't kill you to give it a try it can only do good! and whilst yes you don’t need to use these products it's not essential but it sure will make your engine last longer and perform better, bit like going to the gym, you don’t need to do it your body still works but it's all that much better if you do work out hay?

How does it work? well!

Over time deposits can build up on fuel injectors and intake valves causing issues such as reduced engine power, poor fuel economy and increased emissions. Toyota Genuine Injector

Cleaner can rapidly penetrate these deposits, breaking them down so they can be dissolved into the fuel and burnt as part of the combustion process. This can restore your engine to its New car performance.

Toyota Genuine Petrol Injector Cleaner removes deposits from injector nozzles, intake valves, spark plugs and combustion chambers so they can work as they were originally designed and avoid Issues of poor combustion and misfiring.

Well mate I’d say that is probably not likely that it's this product, more than likely they would have used the old "Jetstream" injector cleaning which was around $9, check your invoice? but your dealer would be in the process of making the switch to this new improved formula, also they could be linked up with either Wynns or Valvoline and also be using their engine flush, friction proofing, injector cleaner products.

Now as for the A/C cleaner Toyota recommends using the product every 2 years of 30,000kms or whenever you replace your cabin filter pretty much :) it can remove something like 370 odd odours and micro organisms it also protects your aircon system from these organisms growing back any time soon, this one should be a good seller I’m thinking.

Sorry Adamsy to go off the original topic of the thread. Not that I doubt the Toyota stuff doesn't work (I'm sure it would work), just helping out with an alternative.

With the Fuel Doctor, buy a couple of bottles initially. For the first time you use it, you put the whole 275mL bottle into your fuel tank. Then every time you put petrol in your car, add 25mL of Fuel Doctor before you put the fuel in your tank. The bottle has a measuring thing in it so that it's as easy as squeezing the bottle a little then pouring the measured dose into the tank.

I was using that all the time on my Sportivo. To me, it felt like it was running like clockwork all the time every time. In addition to that, Fuel Doctor isn't only an injector cleaner but it also helps keep your fuel tank clean.

Ah okay. How long should I be using it for? I understand now that the first ever petrol refill I should use the whole bottle, from then on, every refill, just use the measuring bit to use 25mls with every petrol refill. So how long should I use this stuff after my second bottle finishes?

Oh yeah, how much is it?

To stay on topic and not hijack. I think I'll buy the Toyota stuff for the cousins sportivo.

To keep it's effects running, you should just keep on using it. This is why I said it's all a personal thing. Up until my accident, I was still using it. Even had half a bottle in the glove box still. It's an ongoing thing. The idea is to prevent it from getting dirty in the first place.

You can pick it up for around $10-12 a bottle and each bottle will last 11 fills (after the initial shock treatment),so it works out to be an extra $1 per tank.

I personally haven't seen the effects of this product because I never really look in my tank or take the head off etc, but I guess it comes down to what you put your trust/money into. But for $24 per 40,000km for the injector cleaner, I guess it's the idea thing for most people.

May as well throw a bottle in next time I pick up a pollen filter from Toyota. Not expecting anything out of it, but what the hey.

Thanks heaps :))

Found THIS thread. I know it is disel engine but it might be a good idea to consider before trying.

Yeah I read that, most people said it was the fuel tanks/engines fault and not the chemical itself. It actually proved that the chemical does work if it had an effect on the car, even though it was bad for that particular car.

I can confirm that SOME fuel additives actually work very well, to the point that people are using one of them every tank mixed at 1:1000 ratio, and gaining between 10 and 20% better economy (my vehicles bike included somewhere bout 12-15% for each). Everything I own that burns fuel runs on the stuff now, anytime I pull off a carb, throttle body, intake manifold etc there just is no carbon or varnish- everything down to the valve is spotlessly clean.

Some do work. But I cant talk for all.

Half tempted to give this Toyota one a burl, just to see how it goes. Have a bottle out for me, Matt, I'll be there in 20.

But which one of the some do you use? The Toyota Genuine or Fuel Doctor products above, or something else?

Used Fuel Doctor today. I'll report back in the week or so.

I'll be going to a mates place tonight, but before I do I'm going to pop by supercheap(open till 9pm on fridays) and grab two bottles of Fuel Doc and try this stuff out according to instructions.

First use: After refilling petrol, immediately poor the whole bottle in.

After the first use, use the second bottle to measure 25mls and pour that in after each petrol refill, which should last you 11 petrol refills.

If this fuel doc does not make a difference I will use the Toyota stuff, as it looks like Adamsy has had good experience from using it.

I had 50% fuel in the tank. Went to petrol station poured full bottle inand then topped up the tank with petrol. I felt a bit of difference but it might be Placebo effect?

Personally, regardless of how good the injector cleaner is, unless you injectors are seriously dirty, a majority of the effects you feel will be placebo. And if you don't let the placebo effect get a hold of you and you don't feel any difference, this doesn't necessarily mean that it is not doing its job.

A good sign that you have fallen victim to the placebo effect in this case is if you feel a difference immediately after leaving the petrol station. The reason for this is that these products don't work instantly because they are mixed with the fuel. It has to run through a bit of the fuel before it completes its cycle.

Alright, well these won't that cheap when you buy two @ $15 each. But now got a couple of bottles. Just need to wait till I finish the petrol in the tank and fill up fresh and BP.

photofy.jpg:lol:

And about placebo effect. It can happen! But the minds not lying to you when you don't know there was an actual change. Example, yesterday when I got my car back from the dealer, when I would press the brake, I'm saying to myself, the brakes feel much firmer and does not have that sloppy feeling like it did before taking it to the dealer. I'm here blaming it on placebo effect that I just got it serviced, but at the same time it felt phyically much firmer and felt much better.

So when I went home to look over my work order again, it said Brake fluid, and then I remembered that the dealer said that they bled the brakes and replaced brake fluid (60K) service. And I was like oooh, that is why they felt firmer! And that is when I completely forgot that serviced the brakes.

In this case however, freshly bled brakes together with new fluid can be pretty noticable compared to a gradual change with the fuel treatment etc.

Adamsy , what does this aircon cleaner look like and how do we use it? Where do we apply it?

They usually come in a small spray can. I'm not sure about the Toyota one, but the one which I use involves removing the pollen filter then with the cover off where the pollen filter goes, turn your A/C on to high fan speed and to the coldest setting. Then while it is running, start spraying the contents of the can from side to side into the slot where the pollen filter goes. Keep doing this until the contents of the can is emptied. When the can is emptied, put the cover back on the filter slot and leave the A/C running for 15-30 minutes. After that, turn it all off, put your filter back in (preferably a new one), then you're done.

Another way to do it is after removing your pollen filter, put the cover back on the slot, run your A/C as per above, then go outside the car and spray the contents of the can from side to side into the fresh air vent located underneath the passenger side wiper. The first method is the most effective though as it ensures most of the spray gets into the A/C.
