Alright, so I finally decide to make a thread for my car.

Just to clarify things.. Nothing (much) has been done to it, modding wise.

My first car was a 2000 Toyota Camry Wagon, after 1 year on my P's, I bought a new car.. A 2008 Aurion AT-X. It was purchased from Manheim Fowles in Altona on the 13th of Feb 2010. Total price was something like $17,3xx. It had 67,xxxkm done and was an ex-rental. The service book was, and still is, up to date.

It's been almost a year since I got the car, and I've just hit the 82,000km mark.

Here are some photos..

Sadly, but true, this is the first photo I ever took of my car.

*Puts flame suit on* I wanted to start modding my car a little more.. wanting it to stand out and be different to the rest. I always loved the TRD Aurion and thought about the body kits for my car. After a few weeks of thinking.. I decided to follow through with my stupidity and purchase the TRD Style BodyKit from those rstyleracing guys in Thailand.

After the long wait for the kit to be shipped down to Melbourne, I had some problems with customs and apparently didn't pay for this and that, blah blah...

The kit finally got here late 2010, aaaand here are some photos..

Went down to my panel beater the following week and after 13 hours of working on my car... it didn't fit. The brackets that are on the body of the car need to be taken off the car, the kit itself is chipped in various places, there are no holes for the screws or anything for that matter.

Long story short.. it can be done, 100% job. But it will probably cost more then an original TRD body kit -.-

Only photo I managed to take of my car without a kit

Alright, I'm tired of typing.. You guys can burn me with words now.

I'll add in all the 'mods' and continue with what's been happening tomorrow.

1st!! :P

I thought the Kit's up when you I first saw you made this thread..

It's gonna look secksy.. Gonna love the hubcaps on a 'TRD'.. LOL :P

dont think about the money man, think about all the girls that will be following you when you got the trd aurion body kit on

Are you being sarcastic? Hard to tell on the forums  ..

Anyway, good stuff man. Car looks great and I think if you have the kit on you will possibly be the first person here to do the whole kit on a non-trd Aurion. Maybe should have bought rims first? But each to their own B)

He sure isn't man. The one thing you are missing out with when you didn't opt for the TRD are the many ladies that get on their knees for you. You are so missing out.

Far out! That's it, I'm selling up and getting me a TRD

Mike, can I ask how much it all cost to have the kit and all at your door step?

That's not the right Q.. It's supposed to be 'How much all round does it cost you to convert your look to a TRD'. I was surprised when he gave me the figures..

Well, as I always say 'Each to their own'

True. Should have asked that instead :). So, what were the figures if you know?

I'll have him tell you guys himself.. All I can say, not pretty.. :P

Try getting a few quotes from different Panal Beaters.

As a last resort, you can also try selling the Kit :)

Ouch! Well let's see if he wants to disclose the price

I wish man. But hey, one thing I haven't added yet are the free chrome wheels I now have..

I've got a set of 18's at the moment. Once I get the kit on, I will be getting a set of 20's ;)

The problem is, it's all fibreglass. Once the kit is actually sitting on the car, it will crack in many many areas. They will need to be filled, fixed and the rest of all that stuff..

I wont trust somebody else doing this kit once I get to that point. It's not my panel beater that is going to do it anyway, it's a specialist in the industry. In fact, out of 150 cars for a car show a couple years back, the monaro he had worked on came in 2nd. He lost 1st place because he had 150,000km on the dash, where as the other guy had much lower k's.

If I go with him, I'm promised a 100% job, and he is a friend to a friend so yea..

As for selling the kit? Not a chance. If any one of you guys had a look at the kit in person, you'd wish me good luck and walk away. The rear bumper is actually short. I needed to take off the muffler just so that the rear bumper could sit on the car. So if I was to fit this kit on the car, I would need to drive to an exhaust place straight after I'm done with the fibreglass guy, and get a custom exhaust done to fit in the gaps given in the TRD rear bumper.

Price wise. It is honestly not worth it... I'm still 19, and as you all know at a young age money is not much of a factor to think about, but man oh man is this costing a sh!t load of money. Plus, according to VF-X, a genuine TRD bodykit from Toyota would probably cost me less..

If anyone is actually thinking about putting a TRD Aurion kit on a non-TRD Aurion, please don't buy it from Thailand..

A couple months back, I ordered the K&N Typhoon kit and had it installed withing 3 hours of it arriving to my door. I didn't take any photos during it but I went out to take one now..

post-20212-0-94784500-1294792395_thumb.j

After the K&N Typhoon, I wanted to get a matt black vinyl to cover my roof. We started from the middle of the roof and spread the vinyl out towards the front first. It all went well till the curve/dip where the vinyl started to crease. The guy said he was sorry and said he would get the right vinyl next time. Which still hasn't arrived according to him. That's a mod that is delayed now too.

Whilst changing my brakes 2 weeks ago, I told my uncle that I needed new tyres cause the tread on the stock ones were -20%.. Fun to drive, but not safe. Anyway, he told me he had some wheels sitting in the workshop and told me I could use em for free. Got them on the car and well, they're probably kinda small. Stocks are 215/60/R16 and these ones are 235/40/R18.

I didn't take a photo of them when they were dirty, really dirty might I add. But I took a photo of one of them just now, and this is what they look like.

..yes they are chrome, but they were free and only temporary :P

post-20212-0-20468500-1294791604_thumb.j

Next in line was the Ultra Racing front strut bar. It cost me $235 from memory and only took 3 days to arrive.. that was installed almost straight away :P

post-20212-0-93757100-1294792422_thumb.j

Now here comes the pain.

I know I am going to be changing my body kit and all, but I didn't want this to happen.. I had 3 other people with me in the car and was parked on the side of Sydney Rd and waiting for the cars to pass me from the right so that I can drive out. After waiting a few minutes I saw a taxi, and behind that taxi was nothing. As soon as the taxi passed me, I checked behind me again just in case and saw nothing. I proceed to drive out of the parking spot and *bang* I hit some old vintage car just before his wheel arch.

The guy was on his P's and was born in 1976... no p plates up and was driving bare foot. He wasn't insured and told him that I wasn't either. We got each other's details and just left. Mind you I was still in my suit after my Selection Panel Interview for the Victoria Police. If he tries to do something fishy, I have photos of his car with no P plates and a photo of him with no shoes on. xD

Aside from all this. I have tinted my windows.. changed the interior door lights and dome light to blue LED's. The map reading lights and the parker lights to white LED's. I've also just changed my low beams to 6000k HID's.

I think that's all, for now.

Works both ways :P

I know some people.. The guy offered me these wheels and tyres for $1800.

Can't remember which one of these it was though..

Dad doesn't want to pay almost 3 grand for full insurance, and is too lazy to do 3rd party. I'm spending my money on mods :P

I guess this was a wakeup call to get off my backside and do something about it.

Posted

My bad...i forgot how much they slug young drivers  i would not pay that either, but i prolly would look into at least 3rd party.

and as for the wheel choice...i'm leaning towards the 2nd pic,the black sets em off nicely. :D

Man the car accident you explained sounds like a car accident I almost had on Sydney RD as well. I was looking, okay, I saw one car drive past. Then I saw it was clear so I started to move out and all of a sudden I get a huge beeeeeeeeep and I look the taxi driver is going insane at me for driving out in front of him. It was so weird because I did not see him AT all.

Luckily it was avoided. Taxi driver evasive manoeuvre ftw! lol

Also your car is coming along nicely bro. I'm pretty happy with my Aurion. The rear sway and front strut are good enough mods for me. But I wish I could afford the rims I want to really get the Aurion to look less stock and more head turner :whistling:

Posted

hmm in the same with Lee on this one. I like the second one. With the black roof your planning to get i reckon these wheels will set it off nicely.

But most importantly, what width and offset?

Posted

Just my personal opinion but I think ther first ones with the polished lip would look awesome on the dark blue, maybe the guy would let you try them to see which is better.

Posted

Sydney taxi drivers are the worse freakin driver to come across this country -.-, cant go for a drive thru the fricken city wthout atleast 5 minimum jumping infront of u nearly accident all of them are just dam idiots i think ive gone nuts at about 20 of them lol. and they all look at me like its my fault and drive off lol

I remember a couple years back when I was taking the train home late in the evening, and some random drunk ran up to me and just yelled, "TAXI DRIVER'S ARE F#@%ING CRAZY MAN."

Ever since that day, I've realised he was telling the truth, hahaha.

I had a think about what he was telling me and I remember him saying 'the black will look good with your black windows.' So I would assume it would have been the second set of those pictures.

Will be calling up a few places today to see if I can get a R/H headlight, the impact from the hit caused it to crack from the inside.. as shown in the photo's I put up before. But hey, here it is again.

Edit: Holy crap these photos are huge. Sorry about that guys.

Posted

No need to be sorry. But yes, I will be using the no shoes and p plates to my advantage if he says anything. I have photos so he can't deny it.

Posted

what's with driving with no shoes anw? Isn't it a matter of preference? Any logical reason why it shouldn't be allowed?
