I think my poor little baby rolla has a curse or somerthing because once a again murphy has lined me up a knocked me off, or my back number plate more like it! yes, some speed hungery fiend has decided that it would be fun to nick my rear number plate! The only reason they didnt get the front one is because it was to damn tight for the weaklings. ahh well i suppose its a good excuse to change over my rego anyway.

Bigbum makes a good point there ... I remember a story about a speed camera van in Canberra, some kids walked up to talk to the police officer about how it all works, while one kid was around the back pinching the number plate. They then put the plate on another car and ran through the speed trap a few times, well over the speed limit.

The problem was only realised when the piccies were sent out, only to return to the police, as the registered owner of the vehicle from which the plate was taken! :-)

Best to let the cops know straight away, so if anything should come of it, they can handle it in an appropriate manner. Of course, they are police, so they probably don't know the meaning of "appropriate", but they might do something! :P

Today we received our Neighbourhood Watch newsletter, and there was a warning that number plate theft is on the rise, often to get petrol without paying, because the cameras at servos capture the number plate.

Plus, many of us here have personalised number plates, so depending on the state you live in, it may be an expensive exercise to replace stolen plates.

Hey Orsk, if u get real paranoid about it, somebody with the same colour corolla could have taken it, done some terrible deed and then returned it to u!

Better lie low for a while man!
