Melbourne Painting day

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

(mods if this is in the wrong place then pls move it)

But as E-gene and some of the others have suggested, why not have a day when we all get together and rip out those calipers for painting?

We could share paint and degreaser to lower the cost and at the end of the day its another excuse to check out the lastest mods in each other's cars.

what do you melb boys / girls reakon?

hehe yeah i'll be up for painting... but it'll take a at least half a day to get them done. I bought the spray can and masking tape and they've just been sitting in my room the past 2 months.

what is this clear coat spray mello? is that for the overcoat after the red?

dunno... my brother bought that for me.

it states topcoat... i think its for body.. <_<

theres another called high heat resistance gloss coat. i think thats the one he is meant to buy. prob exchange it tomorrow.

the brand is by "septone" i dunno if its good or not but lets all find out

i bought a huge 400g can so i think that can go around for quite a few people.

depending on how many coats.

I'll come, but i dunno what colour suited my car though. I feel like doing it also. I was thinking cusco blue or TRD red. But since my wheel is gold and my car is black, it doesn't seems to match with either of those colours. I wanted Red but.

red calipers is hot man

also very typical too haha

well i'll come anyway, last time I didn't know who is who. I didn't even realise that is you with veilside kit spec black. How's the injen?

Buy a gloss spray for final touch up if you want gloss. Its also good for protecting the colour due to layer of coat. Two layer of colour for deep colour finish.

the injens great. you can feel a little more after about 4500rpm.

anyway my calipers were done twice so there are 2 layers.

have no problems with them.

but where i coloured black its starting to come off. that was only done ith one layer

so ill probably do that again.

how about we go do a group buy at some shop for the sprays

for those who havent bought em yet

and then find a place to spray the calipers together

That would be a mad idea. Yes you need two layer coat of your prefered colour, and buy with sky high tempt resistance. Finish it off with clear coating for extra safety measure.

I'm thnking of painting the caliper with silver for its 1st layer. then 2nd layer I will spray dark red. The colour has to be dark to contrast my shiny gold rims.

u can experiment with what you want on need for speed undergound 2 or photoshop

hahaha

underground 2:

just choose a hatch similar to the corolla

and spray the car what colour yours is

and pick the rims similar to yours

and then...choose the colour for your calipers

photoshop:

get a picture of your car

choose a colour

and colour in your calipers

Hey Danz,

Maybe try a really glossy black on yours eh?

I'm thinking of white or red, what do you guys reakon?

Oh and I saw some caliper paint in the shop, is that the right stuff?

Hmm... this is going to need some organizing, I think we'll need somewhere wherer we can chill out whilst waiting for the paint to try, and perhaps a rattle gun and many blocks of wood as well.

Any suggestions or contacts? or shall we just surround e-gene's cafe?

anything else that is required ? i think we also need wax + greese remover + grit sandpaper.
