Rust On My Brake Discs

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

i took off my wheels to clean the inside brake dust off

and noticed there is alot of rusting in the picture i've attached ( rear left ), ive compared it to the rear right disc and there is minor rusting but not to this extent...

my rear brakes squeel like anything when i reverse i dont know if this has any contribution to the problem.

any advice on this would be great, as i hope theres nothing wrong with my rear discs, incase in emergency braking!

as usual when i went to toyota to look at my brakes explaining the problem, they said "its perfectly normal"

=/ i dont think that amount of rust is normal tho

i would not be worried about that amount of rust, its only just bit of light surface rust, if you were really worried clean it off with a wire brush and spay some zinc coat in there to stop the rust from starting in the future.

allrite! if u say theres nothing wrong *phew*

the toyota service centre i went to wont do anything about it, so i may go to another service center!

there really is nothing for them to do, its steel and steel rusts, its somthing that they would see all the time and like i said there really is nothing to worry about

i was refering to the squeeling brakes

it is like seriously high pitched :S

it gets really irritating!

the last meet we had down here prior to the dyno day i was speaking to motoman and he was telling me that there is a recall on all rollas with squeeling brakes in reverse. mind you they have never sent out letters because theres only been a few cases for them to fix.

but like i said i took mine to toyota after i spoke to him and the re adjusted my brakes and replaced all pads even though the pads seemed fine.

had somthing to do with the brakes slightly grabing and releasing completly.

anyway cant see why your toyota service centre wouldnt look into it.

im constantly hasseling mine dealership and to there credit they have fixed nearly every issue ive had to date. and there have been plenty of issues lol ill take it there over anything and everything. the whole crew there all know me on a first name basis now lol.

anyway try another place and see what happens.

No i didn't paint the disc surface but a little overspray did get on it so I wiped it with thinners and then went for a good hard drive with some good hard stops and hey presto no more paint!!
