Hi all,

As suggested - just writing my introduction post to the forum! I used to be on here a long long long time ago back in the corolla days. Since those days I was just driving a Toyota hilux due to my line of work, but I have just bought myself another new toy - more of a leisure car. Hence why I am back on the forums to contribute!

It is a 2001 Model Toyota Mark II - JZX110. Import from japan. I imported it myself and searched for one that I loved. It was a grade 4.5 at auction. It's a top of the range IR-V Fortuna Yamaha model in 5 spd manual and therefore a very rare car in Australia. Its hard to know just exactly how many of these are in the country - but talking with the importers and on JZX forums, it would seem there are only a handful in the country that are this spec in manual.

I do have some basic shots of it during the import process/auction and now also that it's on the road and im sure ill get them up at some stage. I also do a bit of motorsport photography so once I do get all the bits and pieces going on the car ill take some better pics!

Hopefully I can get out to some meets soon enough to meet a few new faces!

Any questions on the car/specs/process - by all means ask away!

Thanks,
Cameron

Welcome back - I love the Mark IIs, contemplating a Blit as a family wagon in the near future

They are seriously cool and fun cars. It makes you wonder why they never produced these for anywhere else in the world... I guess Australia was all about v8's - but the market is very different nowadays. Anywho - heres some shots back at the auction and when she first arrived for compliance

The Blit originally got my attention... for something different. But I don't need a wagon in my life - got the ute and now the sedan, so im pretty chuffed.

Only real problems I see with the Blit are the auto (for some reason they didn't bother to put the 5-speed auto in the IR-Vs, and obviously no manual option either, but I can live with that for a family car) and the scarcity of body parts if it gets in a prang - driveline etc wouldn't be as bad due to other 1JZs in the country.

The 5spd's are very rare in general. Even in the sedans. Ive been keeping an eye on the auctions since I bought mine, and I am yet to see another fortuna Yamaha with 5spd manual.

Body parts are an issue I guess, but using yahoo japan auctions - theres plenty of stuff available, just gotta know someone or have contacts who can deal with the Japanese market I guess. Driveline/engine etc etc is not an issue. Its the same chassis as the Lexus IS200 (from memory) - so brakes/pads and all that is the same.

Thing im worried about is a damaged windscreen or something........
