Hi,

I kinda require a bit of advice here about a smash that we are at no fault.

My insurance company quoted my car a write off for an agreed value around market value at the time.

Does it really cost 17k to repair the damage to the front left corner of an Aurion? The assessor said it was going to be tough redoing the wiring.

I am a bit uneased of letting go a low milage Aurion ATX to look for another Car.

Any advice as i am also out of a car to use at the moment.

No airbags deployed. Still drivable as it was driven home from the scene of the accident.

I just looked at the log book and its only done 27k over 4 years.

Surely a corner of a car shouldn't cost 17k to repair?

hrmm... i cant really tell from pics, but you should have asked for the quote as to how was it so expensive, im sure the parts would probably cost about 5k or something being "toyota genuine"

maybe theres chasis damage ?

Before I bought my aurion I owned a 2005 altise that was written off with very similar damage. The insurance assessor told me it was easier for them to write off rather than repair as they would have to guarantee that repair for the life of the vehicle.

For example, if it cost 5 grand to repair a 10 grand camry and there were any probs down the track (ie. premature tyre wear, metal fatigue, etc) they would have to fix it again. Not worth them taking the risk. Better to give me my 10 grand and sell the wreck for 7 and never have to worry about it again. They already made more than the other 3 grand out of my premiums.

Had a report back that this will be 6.5k in parts almost 3k in painting and 6k in labour + other little stuff

who could have thought parts for Toyota can be quite expensive.

2nd hand low mileage is the best thing to go with now? I dont think they make the metallic silver for the later models?

Given that a brand new atx is only $29 990 drive away at the moment $17000 probably close to the used value of your damaged carDont most insurers write cars off when the repair is over three quarters of the insured value?
