Constant noise in neutral that goes when clutch is pressed.

I have a Toyota Hilux Revo (Thailand) 2015 model.

I bought it at 38,000kms and not long after discovered a creaking noise during the pressing of the clutch pedal whether the car was on or off. Luckily still under warrantee Toyota changed the clutch.

Here we are 7months later at 60,000kms. Starting to here a clear kind of grinding noise when the engines running and in neutral the noise disappears once the clutch is pressed. I've read a lot, originally coming to the conclusion it was the input shaft bearing and then s friend suggested it could be dual mass flywheel. After taking it back to dealer (TOYOTA ASSURED) the mechanic originally said there wasn't a noise and insisted I waited 4 hours for the truck to cool down and then said that noise is normal and pulled out another truck of same model and said it sounded the same which it didn't, and finally he came out with a brand new clutch disk pointing at the dampeners saying this is the noise coming from the springs on a new clutch plate.

If anyone can shed any light on the situation as to what it could be. I know it's difficult without being able to look at the clutch and transmission etc. I hope my video attaches.

Sounds quite like a bearing on the imput shaft

to me it does sound like you have a problem with the clutch Thrust bearing as was stated by ,CAMPBEAN  🙂

is common with vehicles driven in suburban areas, with many gear changing ..

Just my guess, had the same with a 1998 hilux manual 5 spd.

Either way, the tranny has to come out and then a thorough inspection of the clutch plate would also be highly recommended and possibly replaced just to be on the safe side. Who wants to do the same job twice ?

The thrust bearing does sound suspicious, but you never know until you open her up.

I know this isn’t the same vehicle, but I had a similar noise in a 02 Pajero I once owned, and it was the input bearing in the gearbox on the main input shaft. It was very noisy in neutral and all the gears except 4th and reverse. This is because those gears are not side loaded and are off the main shaft. I ended up replacing all the bearings which was a hell of a job to do at home. This was caused by towing in 5th gear, which puts too much load on the input shaft, if you are not at a good cruising speed.  Your car doesn’t seem to have enough kms on it for this to be a problem though
