Anyways when I bought my corolla, the previous owner also had a TRD carbon fibre style grille...currently I have the stock grille on the car. The problem is that the protective clear layer of paint on the grille is starting to come off in certain areas. Anyone have any tips as to repairing the thing back to original condition.

Cheers

use 1500grit wet and dry sandpaper to rub the rest of the clear off, then get the clear recoated

I think it would be a waste of time and money taking it to a carbon fibre specialist as the grille isnt carbon fibre as have been pointed out by other members in the past. If your not confident in doing the prep work and reclearcoating it yourself just take it to any reputable panel beater and they should be able to fix it up for you... no need to try and find a specialist....

TRD one come painted and coated with a finish that looks like Carbon. (Its NOT real carbon fiber) and it comes with the TRD Sports badge (which btw you can't get anywhere).

quality wise they are both produced from abs and have wire mesh. like pippy said the true trd grill you dont paint as it comes finished with carbon look and a trdsports badge.

A small bit on mine has come off as well but I don't see it being a really big problem. I think if u are worried about uniformity, then just rub the rest of the coating off.
