I double clutch it into 2nd

by the time you were double clutching into 2nd, i'd be almost ready to change into third... crunch or no crunch.

Whats the point in double clutching on the upshift???

coz it sounds cool and it's really important on a modern day synchromesh gearbox

so if i dont double clutch then there will be "danger to my manifold" and the floor of my car would fall on the road and make hektic sparks and stuff ? or would this just happen if i were driving in my green mitsu eclipse ?? i dont want to damage the floor so i better double clutch ?

I'm actually an undercover FBI agent working in Australia, and all I can say is you really have to double clutch. If you don't you will cause danger to the manifold, the floor will go bang, sparks will fly everywhere, you'll look like an idiot while you thought you did 'ok' because you 'nearly had him', you'll get into a car chase with cops only to get into a car chase with crazy yakuza mo fo's and have your car blown up, then you'll have a beer with the dude you think is a baddy and want to shag his sister, only to expose him later on and have a drag race with him that involvs jumping in front of a train (i double clutched that time), land perfectly, let the bad guy go, take the rap from the FBI, lose the chance to shag his sister again and evenutally end up doing the same crap again with some loser wannabe 'can't get anywhere' rap guy in the next few years.

Make sure you double clutch. MAKE SURE.

ive only heard the term double clutch what is it and whats the point? ive only been driving manual for a couple of months.

I'm no expert, but this is how I understand it.

Here's an example. You're in 4th gear and want to go to 3rd gear. Press clutch in, shift gear to neutral & release clutch. Jab the throttle with the right foot, Press clutch in and shift to 3rd and release clutch.

why not just press the clutch in and jab the throttle??

I think they call that rev matching.

Double clutching if done right reduces wear and tear on your clutch and synchros. A mate of mine is a master of double clutching and has gotten 170,000 K's out of the original clutch. He doesn't drive like a granny either.

I do this in my other car (Ford Escort) constantly, but only because it literally has a track spec'd motor in it. My foot nearly smashes through the firewall in the sportivo after I've driven it for a day lol.

haha sorry Jen!! When you come to a meet i'll take you for a drive in my sportivo (so u can hear the CAI noise as well:P :P) and i will show u double clutching!

To me it seems pointless because if u are not retarded u can easily heal and toe in the sportivo which is totally better because its faster and sounds awesome!!

Double Clutching whilst shifting up gears came from Fast and the Furious.... *** knows why :P hahahaha

Does anyone know how much damage if any hitting the fuel cut out does to the engine?

I have hit it a few times on 2nd gear because when you are in lift you just want it to keep going and sometimes I shift to late.
