As my clutch is nearing the end of its life, i want to upgrade my clutch. My wife learnt to drive manual in my car and i dont really want put a heavy duty clutch in because she doesnt have the experience and the clutch wont have the give that she needs. Is there a clutch that is a little better than stock but not as aggressive as a HD clutch?

Exedy HD clutch's drive just like a standard clutch.

They're a full face organic disc and the pressure plate has more clamp than stock.

i think she will get use to it, even if its a bit harder to drive, i learnt to drive with a high reving car(which i believe its harder to drive than normal manual car due to not much torque at lower end) and it took me just as much time as my friend try to learn with an excel, just put the HD clutch in and tell her its just an oem clutch

the exedy HD clutch pedal feel is actually softer than stock from my experience.

This has been the case in 3 sportivos here

How harsh is this on the gears? Because i know that the standard clutch has some play on the gears so it wont break anything

Guys I had a problem with engaging and disengaging of gears during normal driving! I have to leave the clutch and press again for a gear to take and that was at 2500-3000 RPM!! :(

Also to get gears in lift was almost impossible!!!

I thought the gearbox was damaged BUT i put and original TOYOTA CLUTCH KIT and skimmed the flywheel slightly!! AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!

To get gears in lift is no problem now and the gears are much smoother!! Man wat a difference!!!

I suggest any performance clutch kit or original toyota but dont put any aftermarket replacement stuff!!! you will definately regret it!!!

Did you replace the clutch yourself? Or did you have a workshop do it?

Clutch adjustment at the master is mandatory when you replace the clutch. Sounds like yours wasn't releasing.

So you have no basis for the following comment then:

Part number TYK-6932HD exedy heavy duty clutch kit priced @ $299.88 plus gst..flexplate skimmed $80

So what's the difference between the clamping pressure of the TYK-6932HD and TYK-6932 clutch? The price i was quoted was $285 and $149 respectively.

Posted

HD has 30% more clamping force I think.

NIKICH, where are you buying it from? I need to get one too, so we may be able to get a better price for 2...

let me know mate :)

Ive been doing my research and i was told that the TYK-6932 will not fit the Sportivo and that i needed the TYK-7334. Does the 6932 fit because it's around $200 cheaper
