G'day and welcome :) Great looking rolla!! I dunno if it will help you or not but I posted up some manual driving 'tips' on Sport Evo's topic, I have transplanted it here for you:

I don't know whether it will help or not, but car parks can be very useful in getting the practice in creeping around and learning where the 'friction point' is; essentially the point at which the clutch disengages and it's all you. Then you'll know exactly where it is when you go to do your handbrake starts :) I did this back when I first started learning to drive manual and found it an immensely helpful way to get to know exactly how the pedals feel; another good tip is to go to the quiet car park and take your shoes off and drive around it in your socks, then you can definitely feel what's happening.

So yeah, essentially if you find yourself somewhere you can creep around and practice lower gear changes i.e 1st to 2nd, 2nd back to 1st at a stop you will quickly get the feel of the car and exactly how far you can come out of the clutch. You will know what I mean when you try, because you can FEEL what is happening when you do a handbrake start - I leave the handbrake on and when I know the light is nearing change I adjust my feet so I've got the bare minimum of the clutch left in and good accelerator pressure, so when it goes green I take the handbrake off, my left foot out and push my right foot down a bit more and it takes off like a charm. Practice makes perfect ;)

Thanks guys,

Tash: went to a Auburn BigW carpark last night... the shoes of thing helps a lot, u can feel when the car start to shake and the vibrations

im getting less wheel spin going up the ramps now :D a bit more practice and I'LL be sweet...

unlike the old white car... I'm finding that the black car has a visible layer of dust overnight - might have to buy a cover- hmmm

Heheh glad I could be of some help!! Each manual has a different feel to it but it's great when you "conquer" it, you really do feel one with the car, and man in a manual can you get some fast starts off the line!!

yeah azzman is right, mine is fairly scratched also as the prior owner must have warn a ring and scratched it a fair bit, wouldnt be too worried mate, trying to source a new one / good nick second hand may be tricky plus ppl want a fair bit of cash for them.

yeah another go at eyelids will be good.....atleast its cheap and fairly easy, im guessing once you did one you inverted it and used it as stencil for other, that way they come out identical.

look forward to seeing DIY #2

cheers
