Antenna Stolen

Recommended Posts

Looks like some kids stole my antenna last night while the car was parked on the street next to a shopping centre. I didn't realise the antenna is simply screwed in and all they had to do was unscrew it.

It's odd that the radio reception is just as clear without it.

When I get a replacement, I'm going to have to threadlock it in.

Anyone know where I can get shorter antennas ?

nissan X-Trail is the one to get, most of the QLD guys have them, one thing is when you put it on you have to cut some of the rubber off the bottom, when you get one you will seee why. Tread Lock may not be such a good idea as if people try to flog it they may damage the base in the process, loosing an antena may not be such a bad option?

Is the X-Trail one flexible?

The Territory one is very flexible, but the base looks wider so probably needs more trimming of the base.

i also looked at the Honda CR-V one and the base was too wide, the X-Trail one fits just right after you trim the rubber. I would say that its about twice as stiff as the base of the stock antena

Can anyone who already has an X-Trail antenna please post up the cost?

I would imagine it wouldnt be too expensive but with Genuine parts you never know.

Petrol to drive to a nissan dealership - $5.00

Bottle of of coke to drink - $2.00

Watching your friend avoid a rent-a-cop as he is taking delivery of numerous antennas - PRICELESS! :D

$5.00 for petrol & $2.00 for a coke..., I think you got these around the wrong way... :P

Thats a good idea considering I just rang Nissan and the spare parts dept quoted me $57.25 for an x-trail antenna, what a rip!

The short antenna off the Lexus RX330 is only about $45.00

HAHAHA

Don't egg him on... :P :P :P :ph34r::ph34r::ph34r:

i may be wrong but i thought threadlock is just to stop the bolt from loosening only from vibration.

i have the genuine toyota short antennas as the runx from japan. but at $39 each i do not think people here would pay that much.

the reception would still be good with no antenna whip attached if you are in a good reception area but if you drive out and far it should deteriorate quite fast.
