Most tyre places offer free check up's now to keep their customers but it is a good service. A part from getting your tires balanced and a wheel alignment every 10,000kms, you should check tyre pressures at least every fortnight (I check almost every time I fill up) to reduce unnecessary premature wear. If you get your car serviced at Toyota, I believe they do a check on tires and wheel alignment? Not 100% sure as I don't service my car at Toyota.

Jay, I reckon you should get the AE112R body kit/foglights and maybe black the middle grill (maybe), it will give it that extra touch. Some suggestions. :)

My stock '09 ZRE yoko tires are approaching 50,000kms and will need replacing soon. As others have said, driving behaviour, tyre pressures, balanced tires all play a part. Checking constantly increases tire lifespan. And yes, the older Corollas (AE82/AE92 800-900kg) weigh less than the newer Corollas (1,200kg). This is due to more features/gadgets and it being bigger in size.

Ian, I'm not that familiar with Nikons and the models but you should go in and test those lens (assuming they are the kit lens, i.e. you're buying a twin lens kit). See if you like the focusing speed of them. That and if the D5100 has a decent processor, otherwise, it would be a good kit to start with. :)

Hi Ian, You should try both Canon or Nikon first but they're are pretty much the same. It's like comparing reliability between Toyota and Honda haha. Same features but just different layout/buttons to get to them. Depends on which you like initially (or what your friends have to borrow lens) and then on you just get accustomed to it, whether it's Canon or Nikon. Tbh, you don't really need a high end DSLR. I suggest buying a new/fairly new entry level. Buying like a new 550D/600D body only is $450/$550 respectively at the moment (don't know about Nikon prices). Chuck a 50mm 1.8 prime lens for $100 for portrait/low light photos. Save up a bit more then probably buy a lens with F2.8 and more range later. Keep in mind, all my photos are taken from an entry level 550D DSLR. As long as you have a somewhat decent body, the lens plays a more important part. Edit: If you're more serious, probably save up more and buy a second hand 5D MkII for about $1.5-1.7k. Even cheaper if you buy grey imports.

Personally, I haven't had a proper close up look at the new rollas. A few people who have, told me they like the interior and features (it's not too bad but that's the Levin ZR) but are not really fond of the new exterior/shape.
