  1. don't worry mate, mine is stock, I'll be down there with you.
  2. i'm not sure what flat shifting is but.. i notice that thump only happens when you want to do quick gear changing and your clutch out/accel. timing is slightly off (probably flat shifting? haha) edit: it's only when i'm high revving, not just at any rev..
  3. yeah, i remember there's a 'large' stig truck driver in one of the episodes haha
  4. Yes, don't be afraid to haggle, but obviously don't go extreme haha. Don't be so excited that you might overlook things and rush into the buy. Also, maybe tag someone along that actually knows about cars, how to check the condition of the car, engine, interior and the car has been involved in a crash. It might save you later in terms of cost and hassle. Let us know what happens or if you have any questions =)
  5. yes photos please! white zr's ftw vinh!! haha
  6. Do you mean the mounting depth of some aftermarket speakers are too large? compared to the mounting depth of stock rear speakers? the hole diameter where the speakers sit is not deep enough for some aftermarket speakers, so you need to do some cutting or so to make it fit ok, i get you. good information to know. good stuff
  7. Do you mean the mounting depth of some aftermarket speakers are too large? compared to the mounting depth of stock rear speakers?
  8. i think it can be disabled for our zre's. but i think we have to go to a toyota dealer to get it disabled.. take a look at our car manual, at the back under "customizing settings" or something similar. :)
  9. Haha, tell your friends to practice more!! Haha It really depends on a lot of things... say rego on that car is going to run out soon, you can bargain it down probably $600, a few scratches here and there, inside/outside condition (paint condition, dirty interior with poor condition), or heaps of km's on it for it's age (more than 20,000km a year), no roadworthy (not in this case), probably 600 to 2k?? you can bargain down.
  10. yes, you'll be surprised how zippy a yaris is. I was certainly surprised when I drove my friend's yaris for the first time. And other points other people have made above, about cost, reliability, maintenance cost etc... end of the day, it's your money and your choice. ;)
  11. No worries mate. No need to be sorry. There is always next year!!! More time to do stuff to my car! Haha :P
  12. Guni/Jaderd, you can add me to the list as an entrant, I've paid him. Looking forward to it! ;) Brandon said there were heaps of spots left. "Hi Peter, Yes we have still lots of spots left mate. There are 3 others from TOCAU which are going to be scheduled together sometime in the morning. Did you want to be added to this group? Thanks"
  13. Yes thanks, I've just sent him an email. It sounds good, if there's no spots I'll come anyway to watch haha edit: By the way, sorry Guni for not being able to make the national meet, was studying for exams. It looks like a couple hours of gear pushing, photo-shooting and spirited driving wouldn't have made a difference... I'm screwed for my exams anyway HAHA
  14. I haven't check myself, but have you looked at the car manual? It might be in there. Just by looking, the fronts are probably 6" and backs are maybe 5"? I'm just guessing by looking.
  15. Hey guys, pretty interested in this monthly meet, but more so in this dyno. I've never done/seen a dyno before, so I don't know what to expect. But I'm sure you veterans will show me how hehe. My car is stock, but I'm going more for the fun experience and check out your beasts! haha Are there any spots left?
  16. if the car is completely cold, i usually leave it idling for a few minutes before removing the oil if the car has just been driven, i leave it to cool down for about 10mins or so before removing the oil usually the oil will be warm enough to drain quickly, but not so warm to burn your skin.. or you can just wear cheap $2 dish-washing gloves ;)
  17. but my username is based on that fictional sapce cruiser well its not really anymore now u put rice in it.... so acendant means nothing now without justice....y cant it just be william rice lol Because the rice constantly ascends to new levels? haha you guys are so harsh.. ;)
  18. yes, don't put the whole 5L bottle of oil in, put about 3L-ish, that's enough =)
  19. looks nice, i remember reading in some thread you got king lows or lovells lows? our cars are like 113mm stock height.. doesn't that mean our cars become illegal if we put lows on since legal min height is 100mm?
  20. same, thought you loved evo7's mine's simple, my viet name is duy. i wrote it "dwee" because it was the closest thing to how my name is pronounced. haha
  21. same, i would get it too. there's no update either on that thread on the toyotanation link..
  22. wow you guys are great! such low figures.. do you guys reckon i should try using 95 bp for a month or so? instead of ultimate? will it result in better or worse mileage? heard somewhere there's no point using ultimate unless you got a sports car. the only reason i've been using 98 so far is the period of running-in the engine..
  23. nah mate, sounds about right. i got the zre corolla as well. doing an average of about 550km per tank. i don't run her dry (roughly 10L left when i fill up) and i am not at all surprised about other people's figures. i drive in peak traffic everyday up and back down princess hwy and i'm doing 550km per tank, other people's figures are definitely possible if they do more hwy driving or don't have a lead foot like me hehe.
  24. you should measure fuel consumption as x L per 100kms, more reliable and the reading of the first half of the tank always goes down slower than the second half. :)
