  1. LOL actually I get that a lot at work - there are a lot of people who are members here but don't post much but see me at work. But at that time of morning I am literally brain dead so don't take it personally :) cheers for the comments guys. Am thinking of getting the car out later today and doing a mini shoot with my own, dodgy Nikon camera. Just gotta stay awake long enough, hope the weather stays dry and be able to think of a suitable location.
  2. My Aurion is going to need new front brake pads shortly, but my drivers side front rotor is also badly grooved so I'm considering a completely new front end package (rotors and pads, not calipers). I found this on ebay, and thought it might suit well http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-CAMRY-AURION-2006-296mm-FRT-SLOTTED-BRAKE-COMBO-/110660138316?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c3dbb54c It's very cheap for slotted discs AND pads. Discs are claimed to be RDA however I didn't think you could get RDA this cheap? I am on a budget here so DBA 2000 series with hi-end brake pads aren't an option, I'm simply after something that's slightly better than stock. Opinions?
  3. I reserve interest first Damn you! I knew your declarations of intending to keep the TRD stock were just a pretense to get us all to lower our guard!
  4. Been back on the road for nearly 2 weeks now. Fixed the Traction control mod problem. Very glad to be back on the road again. I've been trying to organise a photo shoot to finally get some decent current shots of my car up however the weather on my days off has not been very kind as of late. Also just found out my front brake pads need replacing badly, and the front rotors machined. About 2000km ago when it was serviced at Toyota they reckoned everything was fine up until the next service As they say, need something done right/stuffed up, do it yourself :P
  5. basically for me it would come down to the extent of the original damage and the quality of the repairs. Water damage write-offs can be salvaged by taking the effort to strip them down and dry them out and check for any rust or corrosion plus damage to electrics. More labor intensive than anything but if it's something you do yourself then supposing there's nothing wrong it can be a cheaper way into owning a nice car. If for example the damage was done by damage to complicated panels etc then it would take proper tools and experience to repair in which case I would question any repairs made if they were done cheaply.
  6. Oh man I'm getting ****** lately. Here's a few more (venting) - The hard-to-access parker bulbs in the Aurion - CONDENSATION IN MY HEADLIGHTS - People putting money on the counter instead of my waiting open hand. Sort of offset though now by giving change in smallest denominations possible and dumping it on the counter instead of THEIR waiting hands - THIS conversation <customer wants to buy $0.80 product with eftpos> me: "Sorry we have a $5 minimum for eftpos" Customer: "That's okay just put it through." me: "we have a $5 minium for eftpos." Customer: "**** *****" I think this job is taking years off my life. I swear I never had any grey hairs when I was carrying a gun and dealing with violent offenders on a daily basis - I think that says something.
  7. You lazy *****, give it a go yourself ya mug who knows you might learn something :P I'll be out this Thursday, hoping to see the rest of you as well
  8. Fixed up the headlights using copious amounts of silicon to ensure they don't fill with condensation anymore. Also replaced the stereo unit.
  9. Are these the same plugs that the Aurion uses? According to another post I read in this very thread they are. Further the ebay buyer I bought off lists them as suiting for the US Camry V6 engine 2GR-FE (or whatever our engine code is I forget)
  10. PM Sent (I think, forum seems to be acting very slowly)
  11. Just thought I'd let you all know the price of these plugs appears to have jumped. Made several phone calls, both Toyota spares and other mobs and they all wanted in the vicinity of around $34 per plug! I therefore suggest if you need them, the denso ones are easy to find on ebay (part number FK20HR11) and can be delivered from the states for around $100 total. Loving this exchange rate. Got my set coming!
  12. Nationals - http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31422 Also we have a weekly meet here in Brisbane on Thursday nights if you ever find yourself on this side of the border and want to drop by http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27430
  13. nice ride! Not enough gold Aurions getting around these days Funnily enough I came from a VT Commodore Can't wait to see how it goes. Definitely hope to see you at the upcoming nationals
  14. I assumed you were unwell, which sucks. The thing that cleared any confusion was you didn't say 'Fully sick mate, sick. Subwoofer' Plus the obligatory misspelling of "sick", written as "sik" or
  15. I have my old sportivo tail lights, all bar the drivers side inner one (closest to the number plate) that I have had sitting around for awhile, be willing to let them all go for about $60. If so drop me a line via PM
  16. I purchased the M Style grill from carmate and found it of equally bad quality, to the extent that I had to almost completely reshape some sections, reinforce some and resurface nearly the entire grill. I've seen from various forums my experience and indeed now yours are not in any way unique. Their customer "service" also leaves much to be desired. In my case I was dead set on the M style appearance and had no alternatives. You however can get a proper, plastic grill almost the same in appearance from many Thai suppliers for about the same price. If I were you I'd drop that back demanding a refund. I had them willing at one stage to give me a refund and that was over the phone, in person I believe you would have just as much success if you were to choose that option.
  17. - Slow drivers (more than 10km/h below the posted limit) - Not indicating - SHY Indian cab drivers. From now on I ain't serving you until you at least say hello back (I figure this is more realistic than expecting "smart" Indian cab drivers) - Automated phone answering systems, especially those with "voice recognition" that never works - Tech support from someone overseas who can't even pronounce their own product correctly. - Indecisive people. Don't come into my shop and spend the next 10 minutes tossing up between whether you want a Mars Bar or a Twix! - Lazy **** co-workers that cause you to put in an extra 1-2 hours PER shift just to catch up on ***** they couldn't be bothered doing - Slow postage - Translink - Domino's Everton Park (8 orders in the last 2 months -> 8 orders stuffed up) - The dodgy home button on my IPhone 4 - My laziest co-worker getting employee of the month for simply being in the right place at the right time. Don't take credit for my work you ******tard! - Rap - Wiggers - My local bike shop. Seriously how many times do you need to adjust my gears correctly? - Telemarketers - ANYONE who calls me whilst I'm asleep for advertising purposes - Door to Door ANYONE. Ever since the trap door malfunctioned they just keep increasing! - Fuel prices (and people who complain to me about the price of fuel. Yeah buddy, I'm totally in charge of that ***** right now.) - Cost of everything going up. - Anna Bligh - Religious fanatics - Inconsiderate pricks. Oh so sorry you don't have enough money to pay for these dozens of pies and drinks you dumped on my counter. How about you put it back now instead of just walking away you waste of space? How about I go to your workplace and ***** on your lunch table? - The guys at the local Toyota spares department. I'm SOOO sorry I'm asking for something that isn't an oil filter or something you always look up. - Drunk ******s. No I don't know anyone who will drive you home to Strathpine for 5 bucks. Would you please stop lingering around and start walking? - Stuffed up milk orders EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! Think I need to stop there, can feel my blood boiling...
  18. Got the safety certificate done today. At the same time my radio stopped working and my traction control mod has started playing up. Lovely.
  19. I should have my personal ***** organised by early next week, so happy to help out however I can with the national. we REALLY need to get something planned
  20. a way to figure that is figure out how the transmission's have failed. It seems odd to me that Toyota would do oil-changes on the gearbox if they knew it would degrade it's lifespan (which they would technically know as they're the ones who labelled it sealed for life) I have several theories as to how changing the oil MIGHT cause a shorter life, along the lines of liquid saturation points (level where a liquid ie oil no longer absorbs minute particles and hence as a result stops "wearing" away the gearbox from the inside out) Why does oil turn black? Basically because it absorbs contaminants, degrades due to the heating/cooling cycling and basically breaks down. If, in a completely sealed system which does NOT get as hot as engine oil (and the oil is specially designed for this purpose), then the amount of contaminants should be minimal and wear on the internal components only proceeds to a certain degree (negatively exponential degradation. Degrades less over time as the oil becomes more saturated). Now if you replace the oil, suddenly every "now-already-worn" component is being "attacked" anew by oil that is readily able to absorb particles and hence as a result the components wear faster again and possibly fail. This is a just a theory fueled entirely by half a bottle of scotch and a random experiment on how sweet I could make my coffee. Feel free to beat me down with actual science
  21. Isn't QLD one of the few remaining states where you can get them installed and engineered legally? Not sure about any other state I'm afraid.
  22. Replaced the battery, redoing all the electrical connections and terminals whilst I was at it (mmm 0 guage ground cable) and replaced the windscreen (had a 2mm scratch in the lower left corner below where the rego sticker usually goes)
