  1. The last one was actually based off a Honda :) Anyway here's the design I've started working on. It's VERY similar to the VIP grill, except with an additional horizontal bar. thoughts? My idea is a bit different from normal VIP grills hence why the custom work from scratch.
  2. thanks guys, feedback is really what I'm after here and the designs I posted are basic, but also just my initial ideas - I'm not happy with them myself hence my asking. One thing to keep in mind is that because the above images are as basic as they are, take them with a grain of salt. True I want to be unique and it's my car, but I value everyone's opinion here. At this stage I've started work, on a design unlike those above. I'll post up a basic idea later this evening.
  3. As some of you may know, I've decided to make my own custom grill for my ZR6 - however being a man of not substantial creativity I could use some input on some (Basic) design's I've come up with. The idea is to have something that suits a sporty type of look, whilst still being unique to other grills out there. If you have an idea yourself, please do a dodgy paintshop knockup and post it.
  4. I have just returned as well - excellent turnout car's everywhere. I think I counted 8 Aurion's? Rough count only
  5. Where did you get that information? A friend of a friend fits them and has said they do also give a power and performance gain. From the local depot, as well as personal experience
  6. sorry to hear that mate, will have to tee up another time to have a look at your satnav too. Thanks again for the effort with the grill.
  7. the modifications aren't for any performance gain, but for other reasons that involve the security system
  8. How about the next meet this coming thursday? I won't be staying as late as last time on account of work, but will still make an appearance.
  9. I assure you my very best effort will go into this. I don't do things half-****d. The only question is not whether I will complete it, but is how it will look. can you add me on MSN? viper2104@hotmail.com
  10. Looking to make a custom grill for my Aurion sportivo, for which I need a grill to modify. I'm not looking to spend alot as this is a simple muck around project and not a big financial commitment. Grill can be of any color/condition etc, as long as it will fit a pre-facelift model Aurion sportivo. I know many people have gone to an aftermarket grill for their Aurion, if you still have your standard grill lying around and don't need it please provide it for a worthy cause. I'm located in Brisbane, and to keep costs down would prefer to pickup in person. cheers
  11. After a bit of a drive this morning, I saw the general idea of my grill plan is actually fairly common amongst many different model cars - enough so that my custom grill wouldn't be a direct copy of any particular other brand exactly. I've been doing some more work on it this morning, and come to realise it would be much easier and neater to heavily modify a regular grill to accomplish what I want. Hence I'm putting a request out for anyone who has a spare grill lying around, of any type (as long as it'll fit a sportivo front bar), to donate to a good cause :) . Some restitution may be made, but I'm not looking to spend alot of money on something that may not work out. I'll be making a similar request in the For Sale section. cheers
  12. The below pic is actually more what I was referring too - the main difference being is that the grill section sits flush with the front of the grill, so to sort of minimise any nostril effect. However something that occurred to me overnight, is that my sketch is actually very similar to the old mitsubishi magna front grills!
  13. Thanks guys, but I just found out the other day the design I was aiming for, is actually exactly the same as the ABS ones already obtained through RStyle racing, and cheap too - managed to pick up a set so there's no point continuing here... However that being said, I'll now be attempting to make a custom grill that will be completely different to everything else out there. It will be a bit "American" in style, the goal is to make it aggressive whilst still neat, be similar to the grills on the Pontiac GTO's (the american version of our holden monaro). The sketch is VERY basic but gives an idea of what I'm aiming for - opinions? The black part will actually be a sort of mesh, something akin to a speaker grill.
  14. really enjoyed finally putting a face to the names tonight. Usually I work fridays hence coming along is not always possible but I will attempt to pop in to say hi as often as possible.
  15. I don't agree with that at all. The 2GR-FE has a lot more in it than the Aurion applies. Having said that, I wouldnt play with the ECU at this stage. Any performance yield wont be worth the hassles you will get with messing with the ECU. Yes the engine definitely has more potential, but I believe this can only really be obtained through an aftermarket ECU rather than tinkering with the factory fare
  16. I'm not sure if any actual chips exist, but the general view is that the Aurion engine has already been very finely tuned to the extent of what the factory ECU can provide to the extent that any change in programing wouldn't yield much of a result at all. However if you DID find a chip and install it, the only warranty concern I'd have is drivetrain related. If either the engine or gearbox failed, and they discovered an aftermarket chip in the ECU you can bet they'd use that to void your warranty.
  17. I had this exact same issue a few days ago after I washed the car, but found after I left the car alone for 24 hours the sound had disappeared. How often do you wash your car? It sounds like a long shot but I don't believe in coincidences.
  18. I've start a thread for my ride here: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27173 Shows a better exterior shot with the CF mirrors.
  19. Have done quite a few mods to my car since starting this thread so I thought I'd better update the front page. 2007 Aurion ZR6 with factory sunroof and leather interior Current mods (as of 15/1/2011) Aftermarket DVD/GPS Unit with upgraded GPS Antenna Lexus IS350 Steering wheel and Airbag with working paddle-shifters Lexus IS series gear knob (shortened shifter) Custom made strut brace Sports exhaust with Varis muffler and modified Y-merge pipe White LED footwell lighting Aftermarket M-Style front grill and custom mesh in upper/lower grills Blackened Headlights Aurion S2 Taillights Eclipse front speakers and mini vifa XT25 tweeters running off Alpine amplifiers in Custom boot install 4800k HIDs, Hi and Lo beam Blue/white dash illumination Carbon fibre overlay throughout the interior Subwoofer in custom fibreglass box Traction Control "off" module/switch Complete LED Interior light upgrade Toyota "Harrier" badge replacement front and rear Whiteline 19mm rear anti-roll bar Micro-suede interior trim pieces Projector foglights Mods in progress Future Mods in no particular order... 18 or 19 inch wheels Lowered suspension Air Intake Brake upgrade Update 17/04/2011 Pics updated. 20. Hey guys, I saw Ingres's ride the other day and really liked the eyelids and decided I'd like a set for my own Aurion. However in keeping with my nature, I'll be custom making them myself out of PVC Plastic (so my own design too). But I could use some pics of eyelids on Aurions (all various types), as well as how they look on the headlight with the bonnet open. Anyone able to help?
  21. I think the tribe has spoken :P Front bumper can't really be done due to the extremely complex shape of the foglight surrounds. The mirrors were hard enough and they're simple by comparison. I still think I'll leave the mirrors as is for a few days, at least for the meet, just to see how the carbon-fibre copes being exposed to the elements. Yes I reckon they'd look awesome on a black car too
  22. I'm pretty sure it would look better in person since the flash on your camera is ruining the effect.... but still, It's a nay from me. It doesn't quite blend in completely with the entirety of the car. Edit: And straighten your e-Toll. It's bugging me 1 Against, noted. I really want to attend this thursday's meet and see some people's rides in person, particularly yours DJKOR. I know the information is in another thread but I'm bad with maps, if my GPS could sound fustrated I'm sure it would scream at me half the time. Oh and I'll be sure to straighten my transponder.. maybe... actually I'll probably forget :P
  23. Give me your opinions people's - yay or nay? I'm really divided. It's impossible to get it perfect due to the shape of the mirror (which results in stretch marks no matter what you do), however these aren't overly obvious. They do look very different in person, my camera doesn't do them justice.
  24. With a $500 excess, would you pay that much for a piece of metal like that? one of the "joys" of owning a TRD is the ripoff price of replacement parts I guess. However having priced small pieces of plastic at similar (and even worse) prices from toyota spares before, maybe it's not just a TRD thing.
  25. looking at how the front tyre came off... I'd guess that the front of the tyre hit the barrier which in effect ripped it sideways and backwards - pretty easy to do when 1.5 tonnes of car is behind it pushing it at 110km/h. In a crash at 110km/h, the only purpose the car is designed for is to keep you alive - I'd say it did that perfectly well, although you may want to get checked for brain damage...
