  1. oh that custom boot install is looking great. is that going to replace that carpet lift up thing in the boot? I've been thinking about how i should secure my sub and amp for the past 7 months, so i might give this a go when my exams are over.
  2. haha im another peter, i think there's 4 of us all with ZRE's, i'm the one with the ascent though.
  3. Hey arc, if you're interested in a Cusco rear sway try 999 in Brisbane, they are a distributor of Cusco products. I called them around 2 weeks ago was quoted around 275 and 380 for front strut bar and rear sway respectively. The price included postage to your door.
  4. yeah good point johnnie, juvenile's experience with resetting had a good history so i thought a little about it.
  5. yeah im set, lovells lows and superlows :D or maybe i'll just grab your springs dwee and reset the rears.... i'll get back to you, i've got work everyday besides on the weekend and an assignment to do
  6. awesome! makes it easier for me to choose now :D
  7. Just my 2 cents. I use to live on Melbourne and the the road quality are one of the things I miss. Not generalizing Sydney, but I haven't found a comparison to Parramatta Road. So I can honestly say you should be fine driving over a set of train track let alone tram tracks which are even smaller. Where about are you from in Melbourne? awesome, im up in the north so usually around coburg, thomastown where the roads are quite good
  8. thanks juvenile! im down in melbourne so im guessing the streets are quite similar? The only thing that concerns me are train tracks and tram tracks which make the ride a bit bumpy. I was quite set on the lovells lows and superlows but then seeing a thread about leaking shocks got me thinking again
  9. Well im planning to get my corolla (ZRE152) lowered but i cant really make up my mind. What i want is for the car to be level but not too low. The choices i've got are as follows: King springs low with reset rears or Lovells low fronts and superlow rears Pros: Price, sufficient for what i need Cons: Non adjustable, shocks may wear out very quick Pedders Coilovers Pros: Performance, Adjustable Cons: Price, i wont use the coilovers to its full potential What im thinking is if the shocks wear out within 6 months id rather go coilovers. I drive my car through a main road where im usually going 60-70km through train tracks which im thinking will kill my shocks. I will also be driving the car on stockies help! its such hard decision lol
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Genuine-Toyota-Corolla-LH-Side-Sill-Mud-Guard-Cover-New-/160483747649?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item255d93a741 its a left hand side skirt for $200 if anyone is interested. i was 10 seconds away from snapping this up, but thought the money could be better spent.
  11. i dont think you would have an issue with the 4 speed automatic. My mum has an 02 corolla with the 4 speed auto and hasnt had an issue. I've got an 08 Hatch and havent had an issue either. also, when you mean 'all this talk', what do you mean?
  12. too bad its not real, because i wouldve went to watch it :D
  13. of course! no one was expecting juddy, like most i was thinking it'd be dane swan. Imagine how lucky the people who bet on him to win the brownlow. One guy put down 2k on judd for the brownlow and got 46k. lucky *****
  14. yeah i thought so, but the trd red looks so good :D and flows with the red car well i started thinking about all this because i saw this: http://global.ebay.com/NEW_2009_2010_TOYOTA_COROLLA_TRD_FRONT_STRUT_BRACE/350209690631/item It says the trd strut bar will fit the 09/10 corolla, matrix, and also japanese corolla's that have a VIN starting with J. oh yeah, also i saw that the cusco sway bar and front strut are under the toyota rumion like dwee said. Maybe that is saying something, but probably not worth the risk.
  15. Hey, I was wondering if cars have the same chassis, is it possible to interchange things such as sway bars? or even front strut bars? I remember juvenile bought a front strut from america for the corolla and it was the right length, there was just a brake fluid reservoir in the way. I then later on noticed that the ZRE152N is the rukus in japan whereas the ZRE152R is the Corolla in australia. So i was just wondering if it would be possible to get sway bars for a rukus and put in on the corolla? or possibly even other car models. Other chasis codes which are similar Matrix 09 - ZRE142 Corolla 09 - ZRE142 Scion xB 08 - AZE151. All these cars have the same chassis letter E.
  16. oh damn, thats a completely different white. The side skirts should be a match seeing as it should be matched to the body of the car rather than the bumpers. Im guessing everythings been clear coated so some issues which may arise is that the guys will want you to sand it down to apply another coat of paint. make them do that for free as well i reckon
  17. Hey private, i've been painting things lately and noticed as well that on my zre the paint on the frame and bumpers are different. Your painter should have known that, when i was getting my spray can mixed the mixer dude asked me what i was using it for because the colour can come out different depending on what you spray it on, and pointed the difference in colour on my car. So i guess thats just inexperience by the guy painting your your kit? So get them to fix it for free :D
  18. Im located in melbourne. yeah no problems but it might not be anytime soon. I will be purchasing my spoiler and springs most likely this week and store the springs until i order a rear sway bar and front strut and get them all installed in one go. If not i might not install them until the end of year. Check out kevo's car and flipsta's, they both had/have lovells on their zre's
  19. im thinking about getting lovells springs also. Just check on their website and hope that they have a distributor near by your place. I was quoted 165 each pair + 10% GST + Postage costs to my door from their office in sydney. I called up a distributor 15 minutes away and they quoted me 135 for any pair, lows and superlows. So i will most likely be getting low fronts and superlow rears to be a bit more level :D
  20. I havent tried this myself but have heard this from others. You can try to use a toothpick to apply the ink or a nail polish brush. That way the paint wont be as thick but i reckon it will also need a polish or it might turn out a little dull.
  21. while we're on the topic, does anyone have a side showt of their car on king springs with stockies? I wanna see the ride drop without the springs reset. i saw AR's recent picture and didnt like the drop, or it might've just been the picture. But i saw john's car on stockies with reset king springs. i like it looking level :D But are there any side effects to it? bad for your shocks? stiff ride? etc
  22. thanks guys! nah i didnt put it back on yet, put it in on monday morning. :D
  23. yeah tom, i did it that arvo and had my lip off when i met up with you guys, it was at home in the garage at the time. LOL at wy, its easy stuff and doesnt take too long. Longest part is sanding. Spraying the lip you just gotta be patient. yeah they will roll in slowly, i've got osram diadems but they're in the glove box lol and i notice i uploaded one of the pics wrong. will fix that soon. Im sure you can apply this to pretty much any body part. I'll be getting a spoiler soon so i'll post how that turns out as well.
  24. Did this over the weekend to see how well the paint colour match is from a spray can. Things you need: 320 Grit Sandpaper 800 Grit Sandpaper 1 x Plastic Primer can 1 x Acrylic Paint can (Buy it from a paint mixer store) 10mm socket wrench Optional Putty/Filler Clear Coat Poish/Wax 1. Remove the front lip, this photo shows the holes on the lips where the screws are. There are also two clips at the end of the lips. All the screws are 10mm 2. Clean the lip with a sponge and soapy water then let it dry. Wet Sand the lip with 300 Grit Sand paper *Optional* if your lip is heavily scratched like mine, you can use a putty or filler to fill up the deep scratches after sanding but i didnt bother. 3. Clean with methylated spirits and let it dry. 4. Find an area which wont be too dusty and lay out newspapers to prevent paint from staining the ground. Try finding something to hold the lip up like old paint cans. 5. Spray the lip with primer, remember to do LIGHT coats. Dont spray too close or too much, this is how you get runs in your paint job and it wont look as good. Allow 10-15 minutes for it to dry then apply a second coat if you like. 6.Sand down the primed lip with 800 grit sandpaper to smoothen it out and remove blemishes/runs. 7. Start applying the coloured coat, just like the primer, do light coats over and over again until you are happy. This is how mined turned out after 5/6 light coats. You can still see the scratches but just barely 8. Now let it dry overnight for the paint to cure. Ok so how you want to finish off your lip is entirely up to you. You can either just leave it the way it is, sand with 800 grit sandpaper and put on a clear coat or polish and wax. Leaving the way it is, the paint will be a bit dull and doesnt gloss as much as the rest of the car. A clear coat from a spray can is just poor, it sprays on very cluggy if you do it lightly so you have to spray it on heavily. This was the first time i used a clear from a spray can and disliked it. You can polish and wax the lip to finish it off and that should give it a good gloss. As you can see from mine, its got a clear coat but doesnt gloss. Here are the finished pictures. Its always more fun to do a DIY, so hope you guys enjoyed it :D
