  1. Spotted the other night: Adamsy's Aurion cruising past McDonalds Dev... and past... and past again... Trouble finding a park, mate? lol Those rims look tidy as, btw, now I've finally seen them in the flesh.
  2. Mine are a Toyota Genuine part for the Aurion. Don't know whether there is a part to suit the 'Rollas. Give your local dealership a call. I don't like the nanna ones either. The slimline ones come tinted, and look sleek as. Picture that, but white car. Link to Aurion Exterior Accessories Page. Point your dealership there for reference.
  3. On weekend, installed my slimline weathersheilds I got for xmas. Looking gooooood! Also drove her. Lots. Todays plans involve measuring up and planning out my MediaCentre/SatNav/OBD system that I will hopefully be putting in in the coming weeks.
  4. Of course he didn't! With a scoop like that, he's obviously a Conformadore fan at heart, and therefore probably a meathead without an ounce of brain. And Armstrong, if you look closely at the front on picture, he hasn't cut his bonnet. Looking past the black bits, you can actually see the white bonnet in there.
  5. I dunno about that. When my old man bought his Hilux from Sydney a few months back, the owner still owed money on it through Toyota Finance. He went into our local dealership to make some general enquiries re Toyota Finance, but they could tell him nothing because apparently the dealership have nothing to do with TF as they don't use them. Although seemigly irrelevent, my point is that if all states/dealerships don't use the same finance provider, perhaps their insurance isn't uniform across the country either?
  6. Let me get this straight... You're about to spend FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS on a car, and you are considering wrapping the steering wheel in tape and bodging up some black contact to change the color of your head unit? :o Kinda detracts from the fact its a $50k car, doesn't it?
  7. I've been toying with the idea of importing a pair of the Thai Camry Hybrid taillights for mine. Personally I prefer them over the facelift Aurion Sportivo lights. The Thai lights have that blueish tinge to part of them and still have a small red section, and I find that breaks it up a bit instead of being a totally clear/'frosted' panel. $ is the only thing stopping me. Probably for the best. Last thing I want is my Aurion to be regarded in the same class as every little ricer with their 'Altezza' lights.
  8. I'd still disconnect the battery and be wary of airbags.
  9. Does the yours have an electric passenger seat? If so, I imagine there would be wires to disconnect there somewhere? I think all trim levels come with airbags built into the side of the seat back, so I would be careful with disconnecting any wires for your seats.
  10. Detailed outside. Well overdue. Washed, clayed, polished, and buffed. Polished the rims, blacked the tires. Didn't do the inside. Couldn't be ar5ed. Get some leather protectant during the week and I'll attack the inside next weekend. Points off though for massive sunburn. Note to self.... in future don't wash car in bondsy!
  11. Unique, the oil line is visible just from opening your bonnet (see photos in first post, page 2 of the link below). If you don't have a recent model that came with the all metal hose fitted, its seems your out of luck getting one, I'm afraid. Under the current recall, they are replacing the old rubber hose with a better one. Apparently this better one has a yellow line on it, so that should make it easy enough to tell when you get your Aurion. I can't vouch for this personally, as I haven't had mine done yet. More info here. 2GR-FE VVT-i Oil Line Replacement
  12. Cheers, Matt. Much appreciated. Didn't know Mainwaring were a Philips stockist. I was just gonna go to Autobarn or Supercheap. Daryl, you say Rowan's weren't all that bright. Would you say they at least as bright as (and whiter/bluer than) the stock globes? Upon further reading around the place, I'm under the impression that to fit the HB3 bulb in the high beam, filing down of the pins is required? ***** I hate the way auto manufacturers are. If you aren't gonna put the very best in out of the factory, don't make it such a pain in the **** for buyers to improve!
  13. Your employer charges you to park your car in the building in which you are doing work for them?! Thats a bit rough! I leave my ZR in the sun all day when I'm at work (not like I have a choice, short of leaving my car in my garage and paying $120 for a cab to work and back), and I haven't had any worries as yet. Granted, this is only North West Tasmania, but the car still gets hot as hell inside. My old car basically lived out in the elements (no garage/carport at home, parked on street at work), and in over the 3 and a half years I had it the metallic silver paint had dulled a bit, and the black fabric of the upholstery had faded from a nice dark black to a dark grey-ish sort of black (if that makes sense). Tinting your windows and whacking a sunshade in the windscreen goes a long way to preserving your interior. Might also help to leave your windows down a crack to let the outside air flow in. Short of parking in the shade, theres nothing much you can do at the time to save your paint from a bit of sun fade. Apart from that, its all just down to a bit of TLC. You know, regular wax and polish, maybe an upholstry and a dash 'sunscreen' kinda protectant.
  14. Whats so different about those nuts? Supercheap sell locknuts to suit most cars. Not sure if they sell normal ones, but I'm pretty sure even the locknuts are fairly inexpensive.
  15. Yeah, I have started to question the accuracy of the statements of Philips, Narva, etc in relation to their BlueVision globes and the like. On Thursday I swapped out my parkers for Narva Arctic Blue globes, and TBH, they look about as yellow as the old globes. The difference is a far cry from what is stated in the example photo on the packet (then again, since when does anything ever turn out like the packet). I'm not looking for extra light so much as whiter/bluer light from all of my lights. The factory lights are pretty good brightness wise. What I'm mainly looking for is something that is at least as good for brightness but with a cleaner white color rather than a dirty yellow. Seems like DiamondVision might be the way to go? Edit: Oh wat a tw@t I am. Overlooked Matt's point on the H11 fogs. Now thinking Diamond for the lows/highs, and Crystal for the fogs. Also, now I think of it, has anybody made any comparison between the offerings from Philips, Narva, and Osram?
  16. I want to upgrade my headlights. I'm thinking Philips Blue Vision for the highs and fogs, and HID for the lows. But I'm afraid I don't quite get know the differences. OK, I get the difference technologically. But what difference is there visibly between running a BlueVision 4000k vs a HID 4000k? Also, with the highs and fogs, they both seem brighter than your average standard lights, so would BlueVision be even an improvement over the standards, or would I be getting better visibility out of the standard lights?
  17. So, I was tinkering around in PS trying to pick out some wheels and a caliper color for my ZR6. Thought I'd bang it up here for the sake of anybody who's interested. My ZR6 as it is now. My ZR6 how I'm hoping it to be in the coming months. Complete with Lenso Euro 6 Grey/Silver 19" rims, xenon light kit, and color-coded eyelids.
  18. That silver mesh looks pretty damn good, Peter. Really finishes the grill off nicely. Especially on a black car. I have been thinking for a while now that if I get one of those Thai grilles I will get a 'mounting block' made up to mount a Toyota badge on it (much like the TRD grille) and color code the outer plastic trim and the badge mount piece. I personally think they look a bit bland without it, and the badge would do a nice job of breaking up the gaping black space a bit.
  19. Ah. Though personally I'd still prefer manual selection in 'S' mode, rather than range limitation. But even the Calais style setup would be better than what we have now. The only use I have found so far for 'S' mode is to keep it in 3rd while turning at intersections, because it tends to drop to 3rd when I back off to turn, but then when trying to accelerate out of the corner, it goes straight back to 4th half way thru. With a manual selection mode, I get to tell the car what to do all the time. I'm an IT bloke, but if theres one place where I don't want a computer doing everything for me, its my car.
  20. So in normal mode you can drive like a nanna, but if you bang it in 'sports' and fair hammer it, it wont try and keep driving that way when you chuck it back to normal mode?
  21. Holy sh!t, Batman! 600kw... Thats madness. My FWD point, though, was assuming the engine was still in an Aurion. I'll be interested to hear how you go with Bolwell. Not that I wanna go ripping anything outta my ZR6, but like probably many others here, I would like my 'sports' mode to give me manual control like it should be.
  22. Ari, Just in case my PMs aren't sending, which I have a feeling they may not be, re your PM about the eyelids, I'll take 'em. Shoot me some bank details and I can sling you some cash. Cheers. - Chris
