  1. Why not nominate the 10 highest posters? (except strike off the top one, because he's obviously a filthy spammer :D )
  2. Maybe off topic, but rotational physics defines power (hp, kW or ps, depending on your fancy) as torque x rpm. There are certain limitations, such as valave float or airflow restriction at high rpm that limits power, but it can therefore be seen why power tends to increase with revs even though torque may be relatively flat.
  3. Q. Is the Electrocharger™ a performance upgrade? A. Yes, it decreases your 0-60 time by a minimum of 3 seconds and sheds at least 3 seconds off your 1/4 mile time, over stock vehicle performance. **** off!
  4. hehe, I think I just wet myself
  5. Sportivo (as in Toyota overrated the original kW figures!)
  6. Errr, lift engages at 6000rpm. It might seem like 6200rpm as the needle is rising rapidly at that point, particularly in 1st and 2nd gear. Welcome, and did I pull up next to you about 18 months ago on North Tce (I have a silver Sportivo). If you are that guy, you asked me whether I'd ever had a problem with shifting gears, which is another story... Anyway, my exhaust is stock and I've never had any problems with hesitation or lift - EXCEPT for when I removed the trumpet fromthe top of the stock airbox. This presumably made the airflow turbulent over the MAF sensor and made the engine behave very badly. Could be a similar issue in your car - have you got the original airbox or recall airbox + ECU ? Any mods to your intake?
  7. Ordered from Cartorque on North Tce at Hackney, just up from the VAF hi fi place. Didn't have time to shop around, and they were a listed supplier for RDA slotted rotors so ordered the pads there too. Upgrading the rears as well was going to cost over a grand, so I'll do the fronts first and see whether the bias is ok, or whether I need to do the rears later also.
  8. 1.2 Buddhas or 1.36 oz_vikings. Good to hear that my power to weight isn't the worst going around...
  9. Ordered EBC greens for the front today, having to come from the UK so will take 2 weeks. The only pair of rears in the country are currently in WA. Also getting slotted RDA front rotors - I'm going to see how the front-only upgrade goes before deciding whether I need the rears done as well (also saves me about $550). One question though - I read here before that it's a good idea to upgrade pads before the rotors to bed them in, but the supplier today told me that existing rotors should always be machined if you are replacing pads. Any hard evidence for this or is he just playing it safe?
  10. Yep same prob with the Whiteline rear sway. No idea what torque should be, but every time I tighten it the noise becomes less frequent (never really goes away completely). Some others have suggested that the non-permanent Loctite helps.
  11. Zee, I hope you are right but if your dealer wanted to dance, they could blame a gearbox problem on your aftermarket fly and clutch.
  12. Mastercard and VISA are simply two different companies offering different credit card productes. I've personally always found Mastercard to be better - never been refused anywhere in Australia, the US or Europe. I've never in fact even had a VISA card. Bankcards used to be really popular in Australia but I think are useless overseas. For comparisons on which card to get, here is a link to the current Cannex report (June 2005): clicky
  13. The TRD LSD has always been my most wanted mod. Can I ask how much you paid? BTW, I only lose traction in the dry on bumpy roads, in the wet pretty much any time I exceed 6K rpm (i.e. Lift). I still have the stock wheels and tyres with plenty of tread (25,000km), lowered on Eibach pro kit springs and running -0.75 degrees front camber.
  14. Wonder if they will try to return it under warranty...?? :P
  15. Are there no Toyota driving brothers and sisters from TAS and NT on this forum? Must be too busy sleeping with their siblings and drinking, respectively, to use the internet... :D
  16. Did you end up getting the shorter bump stops? I don't think I have any problems with my stock shocks on Eibachs, but that Whiteline dude seemed quite eager to sell all the gear together...
  17. I would gues an inch... It's only purpose is to keep the carpeted bit from collapsing into the wheel well when you put a heavy load in the boot. PS. take off the Northpoint sticker
  18. Seems like Zee had quite an ordeal...
  19. Anyone who believed this, send me your bank account details and PIN number and I promise to depost US$35 Million. Oh ok, just for forum members I'll make it US$168 Million for today only....
  20. Or have two "overseas" moderators...
