  1. Clock reset means power issue. If a jump start helps, time for a new battery.
  2. White AE86 on Hoddle St, turning right into Johnston St (?) soon after lunch today. You gave me a thumbs up ... or was it for the Black 86 GTS I was driving?
  3. No, I'm unsure. I posted to give you something to think about. They may not line up, I don't know, but if not then front doors would be needed. If front doors are different, then rears probably will be too. If they are different also, might need to cut out and replace the c-pillars too ... not sure how you'll get that answer. Right fender and door already gone.
  4. The owner's manual recommends otherwise. Here is the Aurion manual: Allow me to explain. Each different engine speed and load combination will mean a different area of contacting surfaces (such as piston to bore) is experiencing more contact. (imaging your going around the same corner on a push bike, but one is at 2 km/h and the other at 20 km/h. Different parts of the tyre will be in contact with the road for each) During warmup, the moden engine is at its most susceptible for high wear and ultimately damage. Hence, if you always run a cold engine at a constant speed, such as idle, the internal components will wear repeatedly at the same place and reduce overall engine life. In any tuned race engine, such as V8 supercars, are warmed up with someone varying the engine speed to a set pattern and are never left at a constant speed. Any new Toyota engine needs the same (by driving it), although it won't go bang, as oil consumption and exhaust smoke will be the first complaints.
  5. Drive with a variety of driving patterns and everything will wear normally and won't need cleaning. The more time spent using better fuels, the easier this will be. If the engine performance drops (ie running rough) use genuine injector cleaner.
  6. TOYOTA 86 ON SALE IN AUSTRALIA Toyota Australia has confirmed that its return to the world of rear-wheel-drive sports cars will start at $29,990. Announced today at the Australian lauch of the new 86 coupe, buyers will have two options: the $29,990 entry-level GT, and the top-shelf GTS, at $35,490. "The 86 is meant to be enjoyed by as many driving enthusiasts as possible, and our pricing will extend its appeal to people who never imagined they could afford such a fun car," Toyota Australia's Matthew Callachor said. Note: TMR's Tony O'Kane is at today's launch event, watch for his full review this week. On price, the 86's closest sports rivals in Australia are a largely front-wheel affair, including the $23,390 Cerato Koup, $23,990 Veloster (the Turbo model is on the way), $34,990 CR-Z, $38,990 Golf GTI, Mazda's $39,490 3 MPS, and Subaru's $39,990 WRX. Other sub-$50k rivals include the Mazda MX-5 (the standout rear-wheel-drive alternative here), Megane RS 250, the Scirocco R, the Lancer Ralliart, the MINI Cooper S and the upcoming Focus ST.
  7. Toyota Australia has finally announced pricing on their Facebook wall:
  8. I have everything you're asking about, except the front right fender and facelift grille. Unfortunately, unless you are in Australia, this won't help you. Below is my old for sale post (some old comments removed & prices are from late 2009), to give you something to think about:
  9. Search the Aurion forums and download the repair manual, the procedure is there. It should be done with the Toyota scan tool, but there is an alternate procedure in the manual.
  10. The position is outside Australian Design Rules (ADR's), so you can be defected. The part must also be ADR approved, which is extremely unlikely.
  11. Search for the Aurion repair manual (file is 07EWD.pdf), as it includes all wiring diagrams, including those for audio.
  12. No, the canister captures petrol fumes from the fuel tank and stores them there. When the ECU judges as necessary, the canister will be periodically purged using air and burnt inside the engine. Thus you are being more fuel efficient by not venting those fumes to atmosphere ... think of it as a 0.001 kW hybrid system!
  13. If a warning light has been on, the ECU will have a diagnostic code stored. Try ringing your local dealer and ask for a price on reading the code(s) - max 5 minute job. From there they should be able to quote a repair. If you want to get the repair done elsewhere, make sure you know the code(s).
  14. Look for the 'TAIL' fuse and take your power from there (the side that does not have 12 volts when the fuse is removed, but the ignition and parkers / tail lights are switched on).
  15. Firstly, I hope you understand completely (with technical aptitude) this VicRoads document and each document it references. You need to approach a VASS to understand their requirements, as this will certainly add to actual costs and may even eliminate the vehicle based on load capacity. This is also likely to drop the resale value of your car. I personally would not consider this modification due to lack of vehicle body structure specifically for occupant protection (side and rear intrusion), side curtain airbags or even suspension suitability. I'm surprised you don't consider a 7-seat Kluger (available on all grades), or even Prado, Tarago & LandCruiser if practical.
  16. Don't go lower on price, you'll get more than you're asking for if you list on eBay!
  17. Yes, you could use an E153 (also available on Camry) work ... but us racers usually tend to buy new parts. More reliable you see. You know some learner driver hasn't been crashing through the gears.
  18. Nothing yet. If you want it, you'll have to build it yourself. Else get your hands on a Toyota EA60 manual, as used by the Lotus Evora. The catch: that transaxle is only available in Europe and New Zealand ...
  19. I couldn't find anything to go in the hole of the undercover (click the photo for toyodiy.com): A genuine oil filter comes with a plastic piece, but doesn't sound like what you're after:
  20. 15771M (rear bank, left of image): Left of image:
  21. eBay Aurion and Kluger have the same engine part number (with oil cooler), where as other models do not. You could always buy a RAV4 or Tarago engine and swap the aluminium oil pan, as that is the only difference.
  22. It should be linked to vehicle speed, as soon as you hit 0km/h the menus open up.
  23. Instead of "phone" ... does it work if you say "hands free", then "call ______"?
  24. + = :D The above is not going into a Kluger, but it's the same engine. You're not the first and won't be the last to ask this question, be it Kluger, RAV4 or N/A Aurion. Not sure why you would want to do this to a Kluger ... costs will top $10k to do the job (turbocharger or supercharger) properly with new parts. If you've got that to spend, let us know how it goes. Otherwise I would suggest getting a factory built car that has the power to weight that you want.
