  1. for less than $42K I'd personally get a VVTI 1JZGTE powered JZX100 5-speed chaser :o
  2. going by the 1zz dyno dynamics graphs that have been posted, you can be assured the current 1zz's have 100kw at the flywheel as-is.
  3. did you bother to read the date on that article? is it that hard to believe there's been some more development since 1998? The 4age went from 86kw to 120ish kw through it's lifespan.
  4. balancing up to 120 is for a normal street driven car, as if they're done to 120 you should not get any vibration during normal street use. It's up to the wheel shops machinery as to what speed they can balance to, I've never asked for higher than 120
  5. fact is they do it, and it's up to the judge if you get let off or not. This is in QLD, I dont have any experience with the legal system in other states.
  6. the QLD modification guidelines also state that you are not allowed to modify the factory silencing devices, I've got mates who have taken it to court and lost. One of the other guys was also given a standing defect for "modified seating capacity" on his parked and locked car for having one side of his split fold rear seats down... He got off on that one though ;)
  7. get the wheels balanced up to 120kph. Also make sure the wheel shop put hub-centric rings on your wheels as they help to center the wheel on the hub.
  8. even if it's under the limit they will still get you for "modified silencing device" If they really want to be pricks, they can defect you for changing ANY part of the exhaust from the factory config.
  9. less weight to spin. Your fully hektic 18's are probably a lot heavier than a lightweight set of 15's. Has quite a large performance impact. a lightweight set of forged 17's etc would be ok, but they're usually extremely expensive.
  10. $1K is fairly expensive for the installation but toyota service is not known to be cheap in the first place with their standard labour rate. I've seen gearbox shops charge between $300 and 600 for the same job with warranty. That does not include removing the box from the car and re-installing though :s For anyone interested in seeing what's involved in pulling apart a corolla box, have a look at Carl's great guide here: http://www.ae92gts.com/ae92gts_trans_rb_1.html The 5-speed he rebuilt and installed the LSD into there is extremely similar to the sportivo 6-speed with regards to dissasembly etc.
  11. We'll see what increase MAP81's $300, flanged and mandrel bent cat back system provides when he gets time off work to have it made. He's getting it done at the same place that did my chaser's pipes which was $900 for a 3" turbo back mandrel bent exhaust incl high flow cat, with immaculate workmanship.
  12. what's the weight difference between your wheel/tyre combos? Were you both using the same fuel? a set of lightweight 15's usually make a decent difference to performance. Using a lower grade of fuel will also have a massive impact on the engines performance.
  13. my old adjustable cusco's were pretty nice on the soft setting, my fixed rate JIC's were rock hard, Marks cusco's are pretty stiff but not too bad. My custom fulcrum coilovers weren't too bad either.
  14. my cusco's had KYB Japan stamped on the body.
  15. when I first put the video up it was downloaded 2066 times in a 48 hour period, so I renamed it so my host wouldn't crack the s**ts
  16. http://www.rollamods.com/videos/dunkin-map.WMV
  17. ...where can I buy new spark plug leads for my ZZ series motor?? :P
  18. you do not need to upgrade the wheel size, better rubber is the thing to get if you have traction problems.
  19. ...cheap aftermarket wheels by any chance? You better hope they had the right approval so your insurance doesn't reject your claim.
  20. ...quite sure. I've done more conversion wiring and emanage installs than most... The emanage is giving him an ignition fault code for only one of the coils, if it was a ground issue with the emanage it would be spitting out more than one code. With the home-made loom adapater that's being used in this setup, if it's not treated with care it's easy for one of the legs to get a hairline crack in it too which is hard to detect when it's covered in heatshrink.
  21. the problem wouldn't be intermittent if one of the grounds was disconnected.
  22. "No Ignition Signal 2 Pulse" Check the wires running to the harness from the #2 ignition locations in the plug, probably have a dud connection in there somewhere.
  23. when you turn the engine off, and the igintion back on, the emanage will flash the fault codes. The fast flashing indicates there is an error logged. Count the flash sequence and post the codes, those will tell you what needs addressing.
  24. I'd say the price is the special part... considering that pipe cost a little less than a complete 2.25" mandrel-bent cat-back system :o
