  1. ...wasn't me, but the car was at my place getting fixed over the weekend.
  2. http://www.rollamods.com/videos/dunkin.WMV
  3. Mark's car's all clean and running again now courtesy of Purcell Performance working over the weekend... Interior looks good as new:
  4. MAP81's have the edge of the guard level with the top of the tyre at their lowest setting, using a 215/45/17
  5. the cusco's I fitted to MAP81's car last night have ABS mounts on the front. The rear doesn't have an ABS mount as it's inegrated into the torsion beam crap.
  6. the emanage may be for you aswell then. It has a wider scope for changes than the unichip, more features and half the price too.
  7. Greddy Emanage, as seen at the bottom of this thread: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...1024&hl=emanage about 1K new with all the extra's, or $500 secondhand. I've bought a few secondhand now, I wouldn't wast $1K buying one new when they're readily available secondhand with the support tool for laptop tuning etc.
  8. if you shop around you can get them for as low as $1100 new, less second hand. then add a few hundred for tuning. You have an AE101 with an economy F series head. You will be pushed to get a 10kw gain from your car. They dont make the powerfc for the F - headed A series motors, you're better off with an emanage etc.
  9. you could expect 10kw with supporting mods with decent midrange increase. Nothing comparable to the increases you get on a FI car. Powerfc's are meant to be dynotuned, they come with a basemap which is good enough to run the motor on but will get a lot better performance from fine tuning on a dyno. They also give you the flexibility of not being locked into requiring a unichip dealer to make changes, and the flexibility of revlimit changes and all the other nice features of a fully programable ECU instead of the unichip bandaid solution. Have a look at the US celica forums to see what the 2zz guys with powerfc's think of them.
  10. for the cost of a unichip, installation and tuning, the powerfc is a better bang-for-buck solution. The powerfc requires a small amount of thinking to make it work though, which is very simple for anyone familiar with toyota wiring.
  11. ...couple of years? You can even buy the HKS F-CON looms which are basically a fields harness which have the F-CON wires spliced into them. I've wired a couple of emanages to 7MGTE's using second hand F-CON harnesses now.
  12. ...or you could just buy one pre-made: http://www.field-net.co.jp/lineup/onetouch/op.html
  13. it would be easy to make a celica powerfc work on a sportivo. just get a fields harness and repin it to suit. That's similar to what I did with my JZZ30 soarer powerfc so it works on my JZX81 motor and loom.
  14. the rubber hose they supply for the throttle body is a very low quality hose and a few have split, the CAI isn't a perfect fit bracket-wise to the australian corolla's. It will void your engine warranty.
  15. >turbo - $200 for second hand WRX turbo >injectors - $150-200 for a set of secondhand 4agze injectors >intercooler - $150-200 for a secondhand cooler of some description >motec ecu upgrage - Dont need to go with a top of the line ECU. Greddy Emanage with MAP sensor, ignition and injector looms will do fine. >new larger exhaust - $600-800 for 2.5" mandrel exhaust from turbo back including new highflow cat ($1000-1500 if the worshop feels like ripping you off.) >upgraded clutch - $250 for HD Daikin kit, $200-300 labour to fit >ae101 brakes upgrade - Set of superstrut fronts usually go for between $200-700 depending on what you get... $200 is secondhand calipers, pads and discs, $700 is new discs and pads, secondhand calipers. Then you have: -cooler piping silicon joins, clamps etc - $450 - 600 -Turbo manifold $400 in steampipe -walbro fuelpump $170 (optional) -Emanage setup $600-700 second hand incl support tool, ignition and injector looms and map sensor -Tuning $200-500 depending on skill of tuner. -BOV $40 for brand new Bosch BOV from an Audi -Turbo oil feed line and fittings $50 -Turbo oil return fittings $50 Labour to install $1K approx
  16. upgade to some "superstrut" ae101 20V twin piston brakes with 275x25mm discs. unichip etc on youe current motor is the worst bang for buck mod you can do. An ae101 4agze conversion is the best bang for buck mod if slapping a small turbo setup on your oiginal motor doesnt appeal to you. AE101 GZE swap = about 40kw increase for $4000ish small turbo setup = about 40kw increase for about $3500-4K Unichip = about $1200-1500 for 10kw if you're lucky.
  17. your car's an AE10x... Either an AE101 or AE102. What do you need a stronger gearbox for? A good upgrade would be a LSD C56 from an AE111 20V, it bolts straight in place and has better ratio's in 3rd and 4th. If you want a stronger box, then you can use an E58 from an AE101 GZE, you will need the rear engine mount, driveshafts, flywheel and clutch to use it. It weighs 50kg in comparison to your original boxes 25kg, and the ratio's aren't suitable for a NA motor.
  18. It doesn't matter what alarm you get if it has a poor install the car is still easy to steal. ie, if you can see any of the alarm wiring after ripping all the lower dash acrylics off, the install isn't good enough. To do it properly involves removing the dash etc, then removing the dash and body looms from the front of the car, unlooming those, integrating the alarm loom into the factory loom with the control module in a totally inaccessible spot (read: have to remove dash pad to get at it...), then re-loom the factory loom with integrated alarm loom and re-assemble the interior. It takes a good few days to do it properly. The same-day alarm installs are good for rice factor only. The siren in the engine bay is also a bad idea because it's so simple to pop the bonnet and smash the siren with a mini sledge. The external siren should be mounted up inside a guard cavity where you cant get to it without removing the wheel, guard liner etc, a good installer will also remote-mount the siren keyswitch somewhere else so you can access it when required. The dealer-installed Brant system in my old WRX was done so poorly I took photo's of it and sent a letter to subaru with the pics, it was an abortion to say the least.
  19. with marks assembled, the ends of each pipe were almost face-to face with very little gap, so there would be minimal disruption.
  20. would have been nice if TRD also beaded the ends of their pipe too considering the cost of their pipe.
