  1. Hey guys, there a batch of Aurions that may have a dodgey engine hood courtesy switch. Investigation results revealed that he external housing of the electrical switch was found to be distorted, due to an over torque condition of an assembly screw. Since Jan 08 the screw tightening torque has been reduced and the switch house housing wall thickness increased at the screw tightening area to eliminate this distortion. To fix the problem in affected vehicles the engine hood courtesy switch needs to be replaced P/N: 84231-06040
  2. It's true you don’t have to use these products, you car will still run but not as good as it could. Bit like our bodies, we feel fine and can go about your day to day lives easy but how much better do you feel after a week of hitting the gym?
  3. Hi. Thanks for the feedback but I've never heard of not waiting a few minutes to let the oil settle into the sump before. In fact everything I've every read or heard from other people is the exact opposite of what you recommended. Secondly since it was the 45K service and a filter was included on my invoice I would expect it to be change. Guys the oil filter and sump plug washer will be replaced at every service if you take it to a Toyota dealer. But it's even a given practice for aftermarket shops to do this as well and something you should do too everytime you change your oil. :)
  4. Hey Andy, DO NOT! use the disel injector cleaner in the 2GR-FE. bad idea, Go to your dealer and swap it for the Petrol one in the white bottle. :)
  5. Thanks for the quick reply. Phew...I was so close to putting it into the car on my way home since I even double checked with one of the mechanics who spoke to the spares dept and was again assured it is the one to use. I'm heading back in next week to get my front discs machined and pads replaced so I'll swap it over then. I guess if they don't have it I'll try the fuel doctor stuff instead. Thanks again. Mmmm well if the mechanic says it’s ok to use then i guess we'll believe them. It's not something we’ve come across at work and i probably wouldn’t encourage anybody to sell the diesel one for use in a petrol engine if we didn’t have any petrol injector cleaner. it may be ok but like i said the petrol one is now available again and i can’t see why the dealer would mind doing a swap to ease a customer’s concerns. I will try and find out if it's true if you can use a diesel one just for future reference. :)
  6. ahhhhh ok. That’s "sort of" half true. They haven’t stopped making it at all, i'd say the sales staff at your dealer haven’t had it explained to them properly or haven’t read the bulletin in its entirety. What they had done for a short period of time is superceed the new injector cleaner back to the old "jetstream" number simply so that Toyota could get rid of the stock of the old formula before mass selling the new stuff where as for a while they was selling both formulas side by side. So pretty much they stopped selling the new stuff to dealers for a while until the old jetstream formula had been cleared/run out. They have since redistributed the new formula P/N: 08813-08830 which is in a white bottle. I can't say for sure if it’s ok to use in a petrol engine but I’d advise not to use it in your Aurion as i wouldn’t be putting it in mine. The Diesel one smells different to the petrol one and i figure if it was ok to use the petrol one in a diesel and vice versa then they would have just made one formula yeah? SO yeah my advice would be to go back and swap it for a petrol one as i wouldn’t want to chance it, I’ll ask the question tomorrow but yeah best to swap it i'd think :)
  7. Hey guys just thought I’d share some close up pics of the Hybrid race car that was shown during Targa Tas this year. It’s currently touring the Tasmanian Dealer network Enjoy. http://s883.photobucket.com/albums/ac35/mattyadams/Targa%20Tasmania%20Hybrid%20Camry%20Race%20Car/

  9. This is the best part of all. One of the guys at work gives me plenty about it and on our road trip he brought his HSV Maloo along and in the wet conditions it was bloody hopeless and slow as all hell, easily the slowest car of the bunch. It really bit him on the **** bad when we told him to hurry up your holding a bunch of glorified Camrys up lol :) Good day, good day His first words to me on Saturday night were "Take your Camry home." Soon wiped the smile off his face when I responded with "I would but its stuck following your Maloo." haha top effort all about it! Poor fella he still cops it bad still. he said something about the Aurion not having enough power or something today and i said yeah at least my car didn’t end up point the wrong way in a ditch, and he just had to walk away lol. & like STEVEN pointed out the Maloo has no weight over the back so it makes it very loose in the wet and not in any way a quick grand tourer. Funny to watch though! except when it spins randomly right in front of you lol.
  10. This is the best part of all. 11. Ok so is it just me or do all your friends and work mates just love to take the ***** and call your much loved Aurion no matter what model it is a bloody Camry? If so do you find yourself getting kind of protective and almost insulted and feel the need to point out the differences between us and a Camry-like were in another league to a Camry or something? is it right that we do that or should we be proud to say yep it a special glorified Camry. I mean the Camry isn’t a bad car by a long shot; I have a soft spot for the hybrid. But if were liking the whole it’s not a bloody Camry then what come backs do we have when our mates want to be duds? Apart from. f*ck up w@nker and do you know what it's like to be punched really hard in the head lol?
  12. Hi guys, Im not sure about the 36series Camry but there is a issue on a few ACV40 and GSV40's where the sensor under the Bonnet has been screwed down to tight, gets damaged which affects how it works and ofcourse in these cars randomly makes them go off. :0
  13. Hey Guys, My Other job is sound engineering and designing lighting, so having inferior sound drives me pretty much nuts so this was an important area which i looked into for a quite some time when i changed the sound system over in my car. I ended up going for some quality Rockford Fosgate 6x5 Component splits for the front and some Fushion 5x7's for the rear but Fusions top of the range Powerplant component speakers though not the cheapies you can buy at Supercheap Auto lol. AS for the sub i didnt look any further than VIBE - Vented innovative Bass Enclosure's which are a British brand highly regarded in other parts of the world and only just now becoming big in Australia. These products are easily as good other some other well known brands in Australia such as Rockford and have found their products to be perfect, Im not a massive fan of tonnes of bpottom end and you soon learn that whilst low frequencies are very important, its much better to have a balanced sound, it's all to possible to have to much bass. Id much prefer a nice tight bottom end than ranging bass that takes over. Things to remember is that a smaller size cone has a faster reaction there for a tighter bass but cant produce the deepest of low freq's. Another tip that we use a fair bit is instead of having huge amounts of bass which obviously brings a sub and amps to their limits quite quickly, if you dial the bass back down a bit then drive the sub harder you'll get a much punchier sub sound.
  14. man this thing cant come quick enough, what a machine!bring on the boxer turbo power :P
  15. Well that tread soon when to sh!t, how did it even go from comparing the two engines to some of the cars they appear in? Any comments or opinions on boosted engines are a bit pointless because really how long is a piece of string? But im a firm believer that’s there much more to a car than how fast it can cross the quarter mile… anyway rant over…. next
  16. Time to call in the moderator im a thinking, perhaps revoke "her" which i doubt it is a her, no girl should have a mouth like that! or in the very least delete their posts. Such uneducated comments and attacks on other forum users should not be welcomed on a forum especially not a Toyota one as one of the key pillars of the Toyota foundation is RESPECT! (yep guess all that Toyota training did sink in after all ;) )Now that people was nerdy. Stock for stock the 2GR series engines are more powerful produce more torque and use less fuel produce less Co2's and have lower service weights which aids several other key areas of a vehicle and not to mention is more reliable and have much newer technology quite simple you can’t compare a 20 year old engine with a new one, think of a 20 year old phone or computer then think of today’s. You can’t compare and it’s the same with cars and engines. The 2GR isn’t a Aurion only engine ist a global engine in the Toyota/Lexus family produced in many different guises that include forced induction like supercharging and turbo charging which all far exceed that of any JZ engines in factory trim because that’s what ere comparing. JZ is in their past and couldn’t produce the power they once did and make euro emissions compliance they are redundant. before you go on and say what about all the boosted supra's, Soarer's that’s fine but u can boost any engine, that’s not hard the reason the 2GR hasn’t been tuned for any crazy power outputs as its a premium engine in the range placed in as mentioned early high quality Lexus cars that are sophiscated and not all about raw speed but if its raw speed then the 2 gr can do that to as Lotus is proving with there programs and then there is the TRD Aurion drag car powered by the engine which produces 1200hp the very same car that used to be powered by the supra engine, so Even the motorsport division is dropping the old engine in favour of the newer engines. And stock for stock what’s that? there isn’t a Supra that’s till stock that hasn’t been beaten into the ground, but as some of the guys here found at motorkarnha’s found the Aurion more than held its own i the twists high speed stops and cones when compared to the supras 300zx skylines and raft of new and old commodore's and falcons. Unfortunately Toyota when designing the supra must of been in America and taken a leaf from their book -we'll make it go hard in a straight line and not worry too much about the twisties. People get all too excited about how hard a car goes in a straight line a true driver much prefers to have a car flowing through the corners anybody can go fast in a straight line.
  17. Yeah the 19mm should pull you up pretty nicely, good choice :)
  18. lol It was pretty legendary, smashed "her" she doesnt know what hit her, still doesnt lol :P
  19. Are you f*cking serious? no, really, I genuinely want to know... First up, explain to me *how* stock for stock a 2JZ is better than a 2GR? and then, how about you tell me how you would fit one in to an FWD (east-west engined) car? Hmm, lets compare a little shal we; 2JZ-GE "The 2JZ-GE is a common version. Output is 220 hp JIS (158 to 169 kW) at 5800 to 6000 rpm and 209 to 220 ft.lbf (283 to 298 Nm) of torque at 3800 to 4800 rpm. It uses Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection, has an aluminum head and 4 valves per cylinder with some versions using VVT-i, along with a cast iron cylinder block." 2GR-FE "The 2GR-FE is a 3.5 L (3456 cc) version. Bore remains at 94 mm but stroke is reduced to 83 mm. Reported output varies depending on the vehicle application, but is approximately 285 hp (213 kW) at 6200 rpm with 289 lb·ft (392 N·m) of torque at 4700 rpm on 87 octane (R+M/2). This version features Toyota's Dual VVT-i, variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams. The engine is all alloy." and for good measure 2GR-FSE "The 2GR-FSE engine used in the Lexus IS, and GS 350, incorporate Toyota's latest D4-S twin injection fuel system. This system combines direct injection with traditional port injection. Using direct injection and port injection simultaneously facilitates more precise mixing of air and fuel under low and medium load conditions for greater efficiency, while high load conditions dictate the use of direct injection alone for maximum power. The 2GR-FSE engine is rated at 315 PS (232 kW; 311 hp) at 6,400 RPM and 38.4 kg·m (377 N·m; 278 ft·lbf) at 4,800 RPM. The engine's service weight is 174 kg. The 2GR-FSE was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.[1][2][3][4]" Yes, the 2JZ is a good engine, but its now over 20 years old and simply will not fit in anything FWD anyway. And as you can see from the above, the 2GR-F(S)E makes more power from factory (even more than a 2JZGTE too), it will have lower emissions and better fuel economy... engine tech has come a long way in 20 years. So maybe instead of running around saying how your land yacht of a supra is the best car evar with the best engine evar you will think before you speak. That leads me to another rant, the amount of morons that have told me to put a 2JZ in my celica is astounding... do people not understand the difference between a FWD(or AWD) (east-west) and a RWD (north-south) engine layout? and with that said, have the seen the size of the celica's engine bay... god I wish people would think more before they spoke. /rant. edit: (source, wikipedia) ohh hahah everybody say it at once now lol OWNEDDDDDDD beat down 2010 is here
  20. Ahh man seems like were all back at square one then :( kind of sucks the big one really. 99.9% of the time youre happy to have a engine co designed and built by Lexus except for when you actually want to mod it lol wait wait i've got it, surely that red rocker cover have got to be worth atleast 10kw's haha
  21. the interior illumination isnt standard on any Aurion model :( but can be optioned up for around $140.80 or closer to $220 if you have your dealer fit it. P/N for the kit is: PZQ51-33050 :D
  22. mmm it's true the 2FR-FE is pretty touchy with it multitude of sensors but i guess the guys at Monkey wrench racing have found a way around this? Here’s to hoping anyway, I’d be hell keen on some headers. Just goes to prove how restrictive the standard system is, chop out the pre cats and she breaths like a champ. Without the pre cats would this make the car use more fuel and cause more pollution?
  23. Yes it does seem quite funny in a way... but then what if you do said mods to the TRD? Would it still be up front? Yeah, I've had my say in the past about dynos like that, as well as Dynojet Dynos in general. I would love to see what figures they get on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. lol imagine a standard 16inch wheeled AT-X with that sort of power! Anybody got a mother in law they want to subtly get rid of?? However your right whatever you could do to the N/A engine to get some power gains could always be replicated on the S/C car. 280kw to the front wheels? NICE HAHA Dynojet dyno's do seem to be pretty "generous" with their figures and easily fudged.
  24. lol as awesome as it would be to gain 50 killerwasps it would be a fair effort to transfer the whole 46kw from the Lotus package across to the Aurion I just don't think it's possible? But getting figures that rival the DI 2GR-FSE engine probably wouldn’t be out of the question. Bit more power all the way through the rev range and more torque down low would be the ticket
  25. holy crap looks like modding your Aurion might just get easier :P once the Lotus boys get hold of them and have a tinker we should be able to flog, beg and steal the odd bit here and there to give the Aurion 2GR-FE so more kick :D how much would it sh!t the TRD boys of you could get a AT-X to 330hp (246kw)320lb/ft (433Nm) without the aid of the dirty (but awesome) red Eaton on top lol :P BUT of course that'd never happen ,not all the bit that make up that total Lotus package would or could easily be fitted to our 2GR but still should be hopefully able to get a half decent gain with some of these bits in the future :P :D Also those headers mentioned on there, anybody want to have a crack at how hard they would be to make fit ?? seem to promise a lot though mmm PR spin lol
