  1. Hahah thanks, I think the modding is stopping for now, I don't really see much point in chasing heavy power with this car. I had a service performed last week (every 5000km) - changed oil, filter and plugs. But I attended another track session. Thanks to my friend Kyle for his photos. That's it for now. cheers for looking guys =)
  2. cheers man will order one 2mrw then :D Alf
  3. I love your yellow foggies! where did you pick them up if you don't mind my asking? Alf
  4. Epic video of our skidpan day:
  5. My view is that the rev limiter is set at 84xx RPM for a reason - if you're not meant to go that high it would be set lower. I hit lift almost daily... But I also change the oil every 5000km. The 'box is quite short-geared hence that freeway speed in 6th seems about right. Alf
  6. No they don't, the 2ZZ engine runs a timing chain. Alf
  7. Lol thanks guys, the APEXI gauges use a really weird sized temperature sensor thread. May I ask how you found out that 32-34mm was the go? Alf
  8. All I can say is "wow" - all the bracing/sways certainly proved themselves on the skidpan. While the trademark understeer will seemingly always be present, she is a lot more responsive and definitely turns in a lot easier. Easier (and above all more fun!) to drive than before. I must thank my good friend and fellow photographer for these shots And if anyone's interested, the full set can be viewed HERE . They're not all toyota's though :P
  9. G'day all, Cannot seem to find this information anywhere, does anyone know what size (diameter) the top hose of the 2ZZ ('04 sportivo) is? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to fit an aftermarket Apex'i water temperature gauge, and due to their strange sizing of the temperature sensor (an M12 bolt size), I cannot find the splice adapter locally and have to buy this online (Apex'i brand itself). At worse case I suppose i'd just take it off and measure it up then order it, but was hoping someone here could shed some light =] Cheers in advance Alf
  10. Think you should look for the one for the corolla XRS or 'Matrix XRS' - these came with 2ZZ engines AFAIK. I'm looking for one myself - and yeh the research isn't easy...
  11. Nice start man, I think its great you shelled out for a very nice set of Japanese rims - they do change the look of the car dramatically. Now all it needs is some major lowering, remove that 4wd spec :P :P
  12. FINALLY. Had the sandwich plate hole redrilled with a M12 diameter. After about a month of fussing around I should be able to have my gauges working by tomorrow =]
  13. This is an epic shot! Love the mood!
  14. Thanks for the comments, funnily enough I have a login with OZhonda, back from the days where I was searching for an old school CRX. Those things are little pocket rockets in my opinion :D Update time: First, gauges STILL don't work - this is a major hassle - getting the sandwich plate drilled out to take the M12 sensor. sighsss.. In other news, mate sorted this out for me. Its a china kit but it was really cheap so I decided why not. Pretty generic ballasts Doesn't appear all that yellow... Until you look at the beam itself 3000K "Goldeneye" HIDs for the foggies. Got a track day coming up soon, very keen :D
  15. Danny, Any chance you have that part number for the Injen intake? I'm trying to source one myself and want to make sure it definitely fits. Cheers in advance Alf
  16. Aw I'm not back in the country yet =[ I'll have to make the next one haha.
  17. This. I believe the system I was looking at was marketed as such - the jammer would turn itself off and the detector would let you know you've been 'shot at'. This leaves you a window to slow down if you need to and when the cop fires off another laser you're doing the speed limit or below. You do need pretty decent reactions times I would imagine. Alf
  18. From my experience you kinda get what you pay for - have to find the balance between price and quality/features. I run a cheap one - one of the low end Beltronics, but they're next to useless against the new LIDAR guns that cops are using right now - you just don't get enough of an opportunity. Because lasers aren't constant 'on', by the time your detector has sensed the beam, you've already been acquired. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on some of the higher end models, what you're effectively paying a premium for. Possibly less false alerts - my detector these days seems to be more of a 'petrol station detector' than a radar detector :P Anyone run jammers? Apparently theres some legal loophole in WA that lets them be marketed as 'parking sensors' - which legally allows you to have them installed. These need to be actually built into your bumper/front grille though, and at roughly $2000 you might just consider paying the once off fine? :S Alf
  19. You sir, are a very wise man <_< Spent a great proportion of sunday trying to get this in, mallet, wood and all. Lined one hole up but could not perfectly line up the second hole. Spent Monday morning trying to get the bar out, for those of you who know, it is a very tight fit in the axle beam. Decided to call my 'local' tuning house - for those of you in WA - CYPHER INDUSTRIES. Good people they were, got me in that afternoon to have it fit. So now its time for a spirited drive :D Thanks go to SuperDave and KenshinX for their help through PMs and threads. Alf p.s. is it just me or does everyone get injured doing DIY stuff? :S
  20. Dave, Referring to the anti-roll/torsion bar itself. It is as noted above, a tight fit, but the holes dont seem to line up perfectly - its like 1mm off. What do you think of me buying a slightly smaller bolt/nut and using that instead? Cos I can put something thru to hold it to the axle beam, just not what was there stock.. Alf Edit: what modification was needed for you? Your photos show a TRD rear sway rather than a whiteline one?
  21. Hmm, car's sitting in the carport right now in the air. Anyone got any useful tips on how to get the second side to align up? The first (passenger side) hole is set, bolted in loosely. I've swung the second part in, but the hole doesn't seem to line up perfectly, can't get the bolt in. Its like a mm off... <_< Alf
  22. Still waiting for Autopro to get back to me on the gauge fittings, seems theres some delay. Might just head to Enzed.. In the meantime this arrived :D Apologies for the iPhone photos, couldn't be bothered getting out my camera haha Will attempt installation tomorrow and report back. :D Alf
  23. Tyre pressure correct? I was surprised at how much difference underinflated tyres made to my economy. Alf
