  1. Date wise I'll throw up a few suggestions for the real thing - how about either Sunday the 13th November or Sunday the 20th November?
  2. Excellent guys, glad you're all getting involved :) This is what its all about and what we want, great group of people and all contributing, so kudos to those who have put their hands up so far. MYH05 - tradition for our monthly meets is that we meet on the last Sunday of a month. As jeffy said though we do on the odd occasion organise for a Saturday just to spread it around a bit, so people that haven't been able to attend on a Sunday get to chance to go, or if it fits in better with something we want to do. Sometimes some of the Melb guys organise meets on Friday nights as well, just informal catch-ups. But like kenshin said we're all a great friendly bunch, its all about meeting new people and making friends, and there's only a few bad apples Jokes! I'd say the GOR run will take place on a Sunday to maximise the people that can attend, it is probably a little late to make it this month so it may be halfway through November as suggested above to make it our last major meet for the year as its getting closer to Christmas. Although if some of you guys get really organised it could be on for Sunday the 30th :)
  3. I have edited the first post, basically at this stage can people please nominate their interest in coming on a Great Ocean Rd run and whether you'd be willing to give a hand with recon runs and some basic organisation. It's not hard, just takes a bit of your time to help nut out potential places to meet up then where to stop along the way, where the run is going and where we can stop for lunch. So its time for some other members to start putting their hands up to organise events, rather than relying on the same people all the time. Lets keep this list going :) 1) Jeffy 2) Tash (am too far away for recon runs for this sorry)
  4. I'm up for it on a Sunday but yeah, you've gotta get organised soon if you want to do it at the end of this month :) Count me out for recon runs sorry, its a pretty large distance for me to cover. Plus, someone else can organise for a change
  5. Heheh... just give me lots of warning for GOR, cos that is one huge day coming from Bendigo!
  6. Lots of good spots here :) Nothing exciting in Bendigo, few nice Camry's/Corolla's getting around, just clean examples. Haven't seen anything too exciting. Have been down in Melbourne a couple of times recently, was at Highpoint on Saturday but didn't spot anyone :(
  7. Pretty tempted to try this out on my grille actually so it stays black, sick of rubbing trim blackening products over it all the time!! Could potentially work on foggie and mirror surrounds as well maybe, though might be a bit thick. Wouldn't work for me badge wise cos I'd want them glossy I reckon. Where can we source the PlastiDip from locally? Autobarn, Super Cheap, Repco?
  8. Here, there and everywhere! :) johnnieboi and private_number (Reece) try to organise Friday night meets and things on a pretty regular basis. Some months we just meet up at places like Albert Park, Bundoora Park etc and just have a BBQ or a couple of photo locations then just sit somewhere and eat and chat. Sometimes we meet up at locations like Diamond Creek or Lilydale Lake and go on cruises to locations such as Healesville, Noojee Pub etc But yep as Jeffy said we are definitely up for suggestions as for locations and things to do :D
  9. Cancelling - so the next meet will be the dyno day, and we can re-visit this idea for October.
  10. Based on the attendance list above I reckon we postpone it - I have been to Melbourne enough times in the past few weeks already, without sounding mean about it I'm not too keen on another 3 odd hour round trip if there's only going to be 2-3 of us there.
  11. Yep lets keep this on track guys and talk about August - the attendance list above is for those who are coming on Sunday the 28th of August. Keep the talk about the dyno day in the dyno day thread :)
  12. Awesome, good to see people getting into it already :D Let's just make it Watergardens then to keep it easy, I will update the first post and thread title now and we can nut out the finer details shortly. Probably start with some bowling and move onto the laser skirmish?
  13. Hahahah, can't let you lot get away with everything! Totally agree with the door clunkers too though, door slamming is the absolute worst!! Oh no actually I lie, fingerprints on windows are the absolute worst, I just HATE that. I have younger cousins and they are very sternly growled at if they touch the windows lol
  14. Lol! You should leave a note about TOCAU on their windscreen next time No exciting spots here :(
  15. Aurora - cheating a bit as the paint name is called Aurora Gold, but it suits to a tee. Also has meanings in other cultures about dawn, daylight, radiance etc and all of those things suit the car.
  16. Oi, I object to all these "girls are the worst" statements! But sadly it is true, there aren't many car loving girls out there at all, or ones that keep the car clean. I am definitely an exception to the rule, no eating & drinking in my car unless its a road trip, and even then there is a rubbish bag required which is to be thrown out at the first opportunity! It is also easier to keep a clean car clean than letting it get really dirty, a regular vacuum solves many problems. But yes, hair is painful, the lint roller tip was a great one otherwise as DJKOR has said just pick it up with your fingers. At the same time though it takes a lot of work if you are anal retentive like me when it comes to keeping the car fastidiously clean lol All my friends know they can't bring their rubbish in the car, they even know they can't have dirty feet in the car!
  17. I'd have to go the manual still, just for the pure love of driving and feeling of control. If I had the money for a much higher end car where I knew the DSG would be perfectly tuned, know to select the right gear when etc then I probably would go with one of those, but at the moment most of these cars have no clue what gear to be using when. I know the idea is you can still downshift/upshift yourself, but why would you do that half the time when you can just leave it in D? TBH apart from a few spirited runs I think there'd be pretty limited occasions where you'd change the gears yourself with the paddles/steering wheel buttons. If living in the city though it'd have to be DSG, I don't think my left leg would appreciate the constant traffic jams! Would agree with the comments about getting older too, I can't see myself driving a manual once I've got kids etc. Plus the way cars are going with the tech now I don't see the traditional manual lasting too much longer with many makes and models unfortunately.
  18. Not exciting but I have embarked on attempting to kill the rats in and around the car port and deter them from sh!tting in my engine bay Not to mention the damage the little pricks can do to the wiring!! Anyway found out they don't like ammonia nor do they like peppermint essence, so got a toothbrush and peppermint essence and rubbed it over a heap of engine bay componentry after washing it out, and poured ammonia all through the car port gravel. Touch wood so far so good, no fresh evidence when I opened the hood this morning, and the two baits I laid out had disappeared, so put more down today. So fingers crossed if I keep it up the car will be okay!
  19. The CT-18 truck wash is fantastic at removing bug guts and tar with minimal elbow grease compared to some of the other products, which definitely as you say work but man oh man someimes the elbow grease! <_< Be careful with tyre shine to always sponge off the excess a bit so you don't get that sling again - if I know I'm not going anywhere the next day/for a few hours I will put it on then and allow to dry so I don't have to worry about getting so much of the excess off and then the tyres are nice and shiny :D If you've got the motivation when it gets a bit sunnier give it a wax and seal in some of your hard work ;)
  20. Hi possumb - I am not 100% certain on this but I know approx 2008/9 onwards the head units were changed across the Camry range to a newer standard which included the iPod and and bluetooth. I've got an 06 Sportivo and I know all mine has is an AUX output in the front, and I don't think in 2007 the Grande head unit was much different unless you had the additional audio pack that was an option installed. Could you shed a little more light on what you mean by 'aftermarket iPod setup'? There are a lot of cheap devices that just plug into the AUX port and allow your iPod music to come through the stereo, the downside with many is that you still need to use the iPod to control the volume/skipping of songs. As jeffy said though, if you're after some greater functionality overall then there are a lot of great double DIN units on the market these days that all have iPod/iPhone connectivity, bluetooth etc and there is a fascia kit available for the Camry as well to ensure it looks really neat. I hope that has helped a little, best of luck with it all :)
  21. Hahah very true, especially when you're being lazy/not paying 110% attention and when you like to drive one handed heheheh :D Having a suspension check and some bits quoted from Pedders later this week so I might see if they can source and fit that part for me, better write it down! :) Even Mum's 2004 Mazda 323 likes to wander to the left a little bit and a lot of cars I've driven do too, they're not all going to be perfect, ultimately at the end of the day we still have to do the driving!
  22. +1 to the above - my 06 Sportivo has always loved wandering to the left. Not severe enough for me to get around to fixing it yet though
  23. Hey - perfect place to put it :) Great album of photos there jeffy, there are some awesome shots in there :D Apologies to ATX too, I hope we didn't lose you in the city and you broke off to head home Big thanks to all who came along too, I had a really great time and it was awesome to catch up with 'old' friends and make some new ones too Can't wait to do it all again!
  24. Hey guys a few of us are at Garage Cafe now, if you're free drop by and join us! :D The food is yummy I promise, we have the first long table as you come in. 221 Berkeley St for anyone that needs it :)
  25. Morning all :) Today is going to be a great day heheh Looking forward to catching up with peeps and meeting a few new ones too Got the fingers crossed the weather holds up for us to take some snaps, although my car may not be the cleanest after the trip down :( Unless I can find a car wash close to Albert Park
