  1. As rollamods has said, try a test pipe. The only proper way to see if the cat is causing some sort of restrictions is to get it dynoed on the day. You will find that modern day cats cause little to no restriction at all. I don't think its worth the time and money to replace the cat to be honest. Unless of course you are completely out of things to modify. Cheers
  2. Anyone tried the lift controller on 9th gen corolla??
  3. Now if only our sportivos would move at that speed.
  4. It would be good if someone here would be kind enough to let us ride in their sportivo someday to see if maybe its all normal. My pads just got changed, they are squeaking though...need to get my disc machined. I'm really hoping someone can help me shed some light soon. As the factory expires really soon. I'm getting my friends dad to service and look at it tomorrow. He was an ex mechanic at Toyota and does some weekend work. Hopefully all is normal. Also the sportivo is more noisy then the normal corollas, I'm wondering if that is normal or not.
  5. Hello, I just got my sportivo today, prior to receiving it I have read other post about problems with the car. The car was only serviced at Toyota dealers and it has already had the recall work performed on the car. Now the other three issues that I am concerned with is 1. Gear crunching in 1st and 2nd 2. Grinding noise when decelerating, disappears when accelerating. 3. Seems to be a whining noise, not high pitched...slightly low if you ask me. I've experience no crunching at all changing gears, whether driving nicely or aggressively. So I suppose there is no issue with that. Is there another way to test if the gears are crap. Grinding noise when decelerating at slow speeds, can hear it going around the car park. Whining noise I'm not sure if that one is normal or not, might just be the engine. Factory warranty expires in two weeks and I would like to get them fixed umder warranty. The previous owner said they got the recall work done. Just fitted a new clutch and brake pads. The car currently has done 56000km. Anyone around the liverpool area would like to give my car a test drive to see if anything is wrong. Only proof I need is that you drive a sportivo too and have no problems with yours. Cheers
  6. I just got my sportivo today, now I just need to sell off my Auto Conquest. If I'm not mistaken the sportivo without hitting 'lift' is not faster then the standard corolla, both being manual. Coming from an Auto Conquest and going to a manual Sportivo the difference is really big for normal driving i.e. shifting at 3.5krpm. I find that the sportivo pulls much stronger, I've had the car for half the day and only hit lift about 5 times. I find that I shift quite early cause there is no need to rev it out.
  7. Dyno's rarely give accurate readings, but in this case its way off. As some people mention its a tuning tool. I'm just as baffled as you. How about taking back to your preferred dyno when the time comes around again? Should put a big fan blowing infront of the car. Temperature makes a big difference, which may be the problem in this case. I'm not sure how much more power those camshaft would give you. But if I where you I would be looking at the wheel HP instead of the so called corrected crank HP. Based on those figures your saying that your drivetrain achieves a loss of 8.3% through it running gear??. NO WAY!! If we assumed that you lose 20% of your power through the drivetrain, then your crank hp should be around about 201hp. Which I suppose is acceptable with your tune. Also if i remember correctly the factroy exhaust size is larger then 2 inches. In other words you might have put in a more restrictive setup. I'm not really sure on this point though. Cheers P.S. I'm still new, so if I've made an mistakes then apologies first.
  8. You want loud just get an amp and two 12 inch subs, run it off a monoblock and you'll have the whole town hearing you.Oh Rainbow splits, those are awesome...but the price
  9. Why double din?? Does it have a screen or something?? $500 would net you quite a decent HU. $300 for splits and $200 for soundening and wires etc. If you DIY, its a great way to start. I cannot stress enough how important sound deadening, $300 splits + sound deadening would outperform a set that cost three times as much without sound deadening. I would stay away from JL cause they are over due for an update.
  10. The way that I went about with my system is. Speakers Sound deadening HU AMP Sub (yet to come) Wiring - do not buy crappy wiring!! Do it properly once and it won't bother you again. Remember to protect your system properly by running fuses properly. Cheers
  11. Pretty hard to run an auto and get that time, in that setup anyway. Looking at close to a second slower I suppose.
  12. Need to properly balance out your system. Your first priority is getting nice splits and some sound deadening. I spent a whole day in 40 degree summer heat sound deadening my doors, and I can tell you right now its the best thing that I've ever done. To put it into perspective, my friend had a 10" sub, splits, amps and HU. I only had splits, HU and sound deadening. He loved my initial setup, he told me I don't need a sub. LOL Cheers
  13. Is there really any kind of logical reason for going all out on one brand?? Why not mix and match? I suppose matching the brands on the splits and the subs makes some sense. Most important thing when it comes down to selection is personal preference. If you like the way they sound and perform then by all means. But don't let other people tell you otherwise. Another thing, your equipment will only perform as well as the installation. What I mean is don't spend all on classy equipment. A good quality installation is extremely important. For example, your type R splits cost around $400 so if you DIY, then its only $400. My boston splits cost only $300 if i add another $100 for sound deadening (do a google) my speakers would easily outperform yours. At this stage I still haven't got a sub for my car, cause my splits with sound deadened doors perform really well. If your serious about your music then I suggest a better quality installtion over slightly better equipment. Your engine can only be so powerful until the gearbox breaks. As BigBum has mentioned, head over to Car Audio Australia and read up on the forums, you'll be amazed at the knowledge there and how far your money can go. Cheers P.S. I hope I don't offend you, cause I'm just assuming your knowledge in car audio is not that extensive.
  14. It doesn't work :( This is for a corolla conquest, headunit is different to the sportivos. Could someone help me out urgently please!! Plenty of karma to the person that helps out. IT WORKED. I think your key needs to be on the 'ON' position also press numbers 1,2 or 3 to start entering the code. Cheers
  15. Is the CAI on the Sportivo noiser then on the Conquest?? Normal driving that is, nothing past say 3.5Krpm. Reason is that I'm getting my sportivo this later this week and selling my conquest tomorrow. I had a CAI on the Conquest and its a bit too loud for daily driving I think. Let me know, so I can decide whether to put a CAI on it or not. I got to test drive the sportivo, and coming from an auto conquest it was a ripper. I thought it was great until I hit lift, and then I almost forgot to shift. Cheers
  16. Cool thanks, I'll try it tomorrow...I thought it was a bit more intensive then that. Something with holding down the numbers 1 and 3 and a bunch of other numbers. Anyways if it doesn't work then I'll be back. In the meantime...Thanks. Cheers
  17. hello all, i just need help with entering the security code for a 2003 toyota conquest. so could some one please help post the instructions up. i already know the code, cause i set it myself....but i'm missing the manual that tells me the corresponding buttons to press to be able to enter the code. cheers
  18. You will still hear the hissing noise in a stock standard corolla, with a CAI its just a bit louder. Mine still does that, sounds cool.
  19. Arn't the seats in the conquest similiar to the levin anyway? When I went to get my rolla, they started to put alloy wheels, dual air bags, power windows all over and what the dealer called 'sports' seats. When I sat in the seat, I thought they were a bit small. But now I realise prefer them over my CRV sports leather seats. LOL Also when I checked the Toyota website, those seats are exactly the same. Please tell me the sportivo seats are similiar!!
  20. I called up, its sold apparantly. I'm looking at a sportivo tomorrow, if all goes well then I'll have one in my driveway by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.
  21. Hopefully with the new clutch and lightened flywheel you will catch up to the sportivos. Go the almighty 1ZZ!!
  22. Given the opportunity which corolla sportivo would you get? I was juggling between this one and the turbo one, mainly cause I think the turbo one would be easier to drive. Low down torque from the turbo to get this baby moving. I'm going to look at the newer sportivo today, hopefully it matches what i'm looking for. Cheers
  23. I've already done some reading with regards to the 7afte. Any chance that this baby could handle some slightly higher boost pressure (around say 12psi)?? This 7afte is a very limited run only for the Oz market, nowhere else if IIRC. Coming from the newcelica forums, receiving alot of mixed comments as to how much the stock motor can handle. Hope you can shed some light on this topic.
  24. I'm following that anime at the moment, the animators arn't that good though i think. Fillers are starting to get interesting at the moment.
  25. A stock sportivo doesn't even make that at the crank!! :o Can't wait for you to reveal the whole story
