  1. All the camrys are 2.4L dual vvti inline 4. Get it supercharged and since there is so much room in the engine bay it would allow you to fabricate an intercooler for it. Hmmm....30K on the engine....you'll also need a beefed up driveline which I would expect to cost you a cool 10K....gonna need the suspension setup to cope with that torque steer. Outlay about 50K and you should be on your way.
  2. So how did it perform after getting it ported? Upon further research, you would only really be looking at the TRD ones if you really could get your engine to flow that much faster. i.e. Cams, Higher compression.....or maybe getting it stroked out.
  3. Its not always the amps that causes the fire........I believe incorrect wiring or dodgy wiring techniques are more to blame. Avoiding boss doesn't mean that you won't get fires installing other components.
  4. And apparantly the general consensus around the forums is that its better to port the existing headers then get the TRD ones. Try to search the forums, as I think northy previously had TRD headers and later switched to the stock ported ones which actually performed better I think. Could be wrong though me Cheers
  5. I just discovered something called tire noise. Its bloody noisy if you ask me, I just swapped over the rims from the conquest to the sportivo. Most of the sound was gone, initially I thought it was a bearing problem. But it turns out its tire noise LOL. Another thing that I've noticed is that the wheel arcs on the conquest have some sort of bitumen/asphalt base sound deadening........whereas the sportivo has none whatsoever!! Time to get some from supercheap auto!! One thing though is that I have a squeky rear end, I think its either the sway bar or the hub and disc brakes need some copious amounts of copper grease.
  6. Are the pads the same for all zze12# corollas?? Reason being is that I'm pretty happy with the pads that came with my conquest. I just got my fronts replaced at 80K, and still have around 50% on the rears!!
  7. Dynamat is one of the best that you can get on the market but it will cost you. But for what it can do to your car audio I believe its a bargain. Its like spending $1000 and you get a supercharger full working on your engine. The effects are that big. You can also look into Stinger Roadkill, G Spot Sound Deadener and Jaycar sound deadener. If you want to save a bit of money then go get the Stinger or G Spot...Stay away from Flashtec at Bunnings... I'm going to get the Dynamat Trunk kit and sound deaden both my front doors, inner and outer skin as well as putting a layer of foam on the door trim. Try to get the Door kit, not the speaker kit. I know its much more expensive. But trust me you won't be disappointed!! Speaker kit is a waste of money.
  8. Hmmmm........Just watching from that You tube video. He states that... "Now all new petrol cars sold in the UK must be capable on running normal unleaded which has an octane rating of 95" So does that mean their regular unleaded petrol has a octane rating of 95?? Or is this guy sniffing the stuff too much?? I could google, but I'm lazy.
  9. How much have you got to spend and how far to you want to take it?? If your just installing those components in then just run them off the HU. If you have the money to get another amp, then I'd suggest to use that amount to get some component splits off Jaycar and run those off the HU. No amp in the world would make your Boss speakers sound really good.
  10. My experience is that the car will pull better once your past say 60km/h. Doesn't struggle as much. Not mind blowing difference, but noticeable.
  11. Exactly what I mean, but we are not saying a really big difference though. The only way for me to feel if this SRI has any kind of performance gain is by driving with it on for about a month and then converting it back to stock. My goal at the moment with the sportivo is to get some more useable torque down low in the rpm range. Which would mean a SRI, Ported Headers with HPC and a Power FC.
  12. Think something wrong with his/her keyboard..... Should read TRD CAI.....not TDR DAI.....lol
  13. Read the manual that came with your Amp. It should have a high voltage input (can't remember the proper name), which means you use your current speaker wires (use the rear) as input into the amplifier. Question for you now, are you going to wire it yourself?? Any previous experiences with car audio??
  14. It will be fine, just don't drive into a really large pool of water that is like 30cm high.
  15. I was thinking about that before, but forgot to mention it. IIRC the TB is only 58mm. I think to properly find out how much restriction is present in the stock air intake system is to test it on a flow bench or would finding out the intake manifold pressure be better?? Has anyone had any in depth look of the intake manifold anyway?? I've read on 9th gen that the celica manifolds are better off the production line then the corollas.
  16. Yeah I've read about it before with the fact that a 3inch ID pipe will throw CEL on you. If I'm not wrong the CES CAI is 3 inch ID and I don't think they have run into much difficulty. Most of the US Celica guys hack the airbox to get the MAF sensor housing as they have straightners. What I'm failing to understand to this day so far is if you do use the airbox MAF housing, then doesn't that become a restriction?? If so whats the point of getting a 3 inch ID pipe, when the MAF housing is like 2.75inch??? Is it possible to still run a 3inch ID pipe with straightners and not get CEL??? Cheers
  17. Here are pics of it in the engine bay. It fits ok at the moment, its rubbing slightly near the fusebox....but thats about it. This SRI was designed for the Matrix, so of course it wouldn't be a direct perfect fit. But with a little bit of force it is right now mounted securely. I intend to make a airbox around it and run a 80-90mm feed to the box.
  18. Pretty much stock standard.......you forgot to add sleeper lol 1ggte. Twin turbo 2L Straight Six.......in a Ra-65 is good for 14s down the 1/4.
  19. I'm interested, should be able to attend unless I'm called for work.
  20. Opps me bad, lol. Yeah not Power FC (I'm wishing though) Just installed it, couldn't reset the ECU because my alarm has a backup battery. Once you remove the battery it goes off. But initial impressions so far is mid range has improved. Can't comment much on lift as it gets stupidly loud and don't want to attract cops these days with double demerits and all. Being listed as only $11 USD can't expect too much. My current issues with it is, yes there is a few... 1. Its not bloody 3inch...its more like 2.8....which makes the internal diameter to be around 2.68~2.7inch. 2. The MAF sensor mount does not fit properly, need to do some filing to get it to fit. 3. Accessories that come with the kit is only half helpful. Only used the clamps. But overall for just $75 AUD, I'm quite happy. All up it cost me aounrd $95 and about 20 mins. Pics coming soon!!
  21. Just received my Short Ram Intake today from the states. Cost me $75 AUD all up!! Dirt Cheap if you ask me!! Its a 3" pipe, but internally its actually 2.7" so it should be ok going on the sportivo. Came with filter and all. but will be switching between an Apexi Power FC and K&N Xstream (Its $50 at Autobarn at the moment, get it while its cheap guys!!). Will install tomorrow morning. Further down the track I will be looking into boxing it away from the hot air from the engine. Cheers
  22. Really have to go and check the engine bay man. If it houses the 1zzfe, then it should fit more or less
  23. I thought he was after changing the LED in the centre dash console......or is it inverting the colours on the time and climate control display?
  24. Well since its only a sub and amp, then finding the problem wouldn't be too hard at all. I'm betting its the amp though.
