  1. Its done, well almost anyway... Problem now is that I need to fix the climate control LCD backlight and the temp backlight, other then that every other LED is working. Another problem is the LED for the time display, it is too bright at the moment as you can see in the picture there is a red dot, I didn't bend them to face down completely....doh! will update pics when its working properly.
  2. Hmm, I'm in the process of doing it right now and just checking out the instructions....at the moment, it prolly is a better idea to change the condoms instead of the LEDS, its so tedious. But its already out, so i guess i have to get it done then. Cheers
  3. Last time he was online was in october. I'm going to try it out tonight and see what happens, going to dicksmith now and then to JB HIFI to get some things for my DIY grounding kit. Cheers
  4. Check out Car Audio Australia they have tutorials and DIY guides for you to follow. I too wanted to create angled pods to house my speakers in, but got lazy and just plugged them into the stock locations. It would take you about the weekend to do it. Fibreglassing is your answer at this stage and plenty of creativity!! Goodluck
  5. Will a cone filter fit in the standard air box?
  6. I hope its finished soon!! *Fingers crossed*
  7. It was just an idea that sprung into my head. lol But thanks for the info. Wide body corolla wouldn't look too bad i guess. Cheers
  8. Well he did ask for a sub, so I did not question his amp. Fuddbutter is also right on how more of difference can be heard with a better speaker then a better amp. With regards to my comments to how corners and flat panels are not good for enclosures, I wasn't 100% sure on that. But it was quoted out of a Hi-Fi magazine, with egg like speakers going for about 5000 UK Pound. I hope this thread does not go astray...
  9. You could try putting some matting on the inside of your enclosure, as they say in the audiophile world.......flat panels and corners are your worst enemies when it comes to enclosures.
  10. As we mostly know (Or noobs like me) a car with a wider track generally can corner better. What I'm trying to get to is that are their any wheels that can fit the sportivo and maybe widen the track of the car?? i.e. wheels that protrude from the body of the car when fitted? I know spacers can be installed, but only if the spacers are designed correctly., if not the hub is not going to like it. Cheers
  11. I hope I can remember......either forget to come or have something important on...
  12. Don't need to get them to install it. Its really simple, I can do it in about 15mins flat. I was happy with it, until I sold it.....and then I ended up getting the sportivo, lol.
  13. Well it really depends on how he would like to build his enclosure. Liquid nails, some nails, speaker terminals, paint, carpet, sound damping if space is a restriction, fibreglass.......it can go on and on. But yeah about $30 would set you back a basic enclosure.
  14. Hey Tayles, Just a question, how much of a hassel was it?? I'm thinking of covering the roof with some sound insulation possibly soon thats why. Cheers
  15. Support your local retailers, get shift!! The smaller pod filter will not cause a restriction unless of course the adaptor itself becomes the restriction.
  16. I believe front stage is very very important. But if loud shaking bass is your thing then thats your call. My ears face forward Generally matching, If you have 5" splits, go with a 10" to 12" sub, with 6.5" splits go with 12" sub. Or even better three way splits with a 8" mid bass driver up front!! Agree with mikey, but he only has $600 to spend at this stage. Remember to include building the enclosure to suit in your budget as well.
  17. Not all subs are built the same. You could use the same box, but it might not necessarily bring out the potential of your subs. Some subs like ported box, some prefer sealed. Even better go bandpass!! Also what d_ice said is generally true, but not 100%. You can get 10" to play really low and a 15" play really tight notes. All subs have different characteristics as well, what music do you like to listen? you want it to be loud(SPL) or sound nice (SQ). Look into the Image Dynamics range or Digital Designs, I prefer boston acoustics though. Cheers
  18. All I know is that most people complain about the rattle in sportivos.....If you want real world experience, I own both a Conquest and Sportivo. When it comes down to reliability its a Toyota, my whole family uses them....never had any issues whatsoever. Whereas the other car makes gave us headaches and a light wallet. If its true that the new corolla is coming out very soon, hold out until then......the price of the current corolla should drop a bit more, same you some more money or even better...get the new one.
  19. The question is that would you like to take the sportivo up past 6K rpm?? Most of the people over here just believe the sportivo is so much better because it offers Lift, engine aside I'll take the Levin. Bloody rattles in the sportivo is annoying....but I'm sorting that out very soon with a bulk pack of Dynamat Xtreme, My conquest with more kms (80 vs 60) has less rattles then my sportivo (yes I own both). If your going to be spending alot of time on the road (especially on sydney roads) I say go the Levin.
  20. The only thing that I can see that the Levin would be better is on longer trips. The noise in the Sportivo is noticebly noisier, but then thats just the engine. Recent investigation of a wheel problem in my sportivo turned out to be tire noise <_< and the fact that their is no sound damping material on the wheel arcs. I still have my conquest today and the only thing I like about it is Its an automatic and I love the seats But thats it. If you like the excitment that it brings then get a sportivo, if not go get the Levin as SyxXPac said.
  21. Blah, one $600 sub is better then two $300 sub. Also don't forget that you need to build your box. Get DVC so that you can wire it in different configurations. Cheers
  22. Now if only it came out of the toyota factories like that, or the Australian TRD division would produce one like that.
  23. If I'm not mistaken, the 3A canon is sold at autobarn. Its on sale for like $99 I think....could be wrong though
  24. I think 50K is just a standard service if i'm not mistaken. I think its a bigger job coming to the 60K mark.
