  1. My sportivo came originally with king low springs and that was already annoying when going up driveways and speed humps........I took them out and put the stocks back in and they were so much better. After an initial inspection while taking them out, one of my shocks are starting to leak......only been on for about 20,000km...........
  2. At this stage I'm comming ( I don't know how many times I have said that).........unless I don't get my car back by then.....my brothers borrowing it, so no its fine at the moment :D
  3. I got sick of running the wires though, I've done it in my conquest twice and it took me quite a bit of fussing and alot of cursing to get it through the rubber tube connecting the door to the rest of the car. But an amp is worth it, It does sound a lot clearer....clarity is better, but a HU would be first then the amp. The stock HU is crap, its not clear and in terms of control there isn't any at all. If it had decent levels of control then I would consider keeping it.
  4. I don't know about you guys, but for me I believe getting splits and then HU would be followed by an amp would be better then splits, amp then HU. From my experience speakers made the most amount of difference followed by the HU. After that I sound deadened my doors and the mid bass increased quite dramatically. After that I decided to amp my speakers......and to be honest it didn't make much of a difference on a daily listening level....its only when you crank it up really really loud that the difference is noticeble, which I might add is dangerous while driving. I'll be trying to attend the meet this upcoming saturday, so if anyone is interested I'll give you a listen. It doesn't have a sub or amp.......so current setup is HU, Splits and Sound deadening. Too lazy to install the amp as thats the amount of difference it makes.......and couldn't be bothered with the sub atm as well
  5. I'm not sure about the local authorities in WA. But I think in NSW or maybe Australia for that matter, the engine must be younger then the car...i.e. the engine is newer. A well thought out turbo installation would be better, as both would prolly cost the same......and putting the 1.8L corolla engine is not going to be that crash hot, unless you can find a 2zzge that is younger then your car....and then the headaches of gearbox etc.... Do some measurements if your planning going custom......or the kit that you mentioned, but I would be worried about the kit since its coming from the states (I'm assuming).........because they are left hand driven. If you do your shopping right then it shouldn't cost you too much.........unless of course you want all your parts to be brand new I believe a TRD Yaris will be coming out....after the Aurion and Hilux...what it has under the bonnet remains a mystery at this stage
  6. If only they released it in australia.......I love the shape, but with better fuel economy.........and the torque is so much better!!
  7. Its better to put that money into getting your car completely detailed........with about $1000......you can get it done to extremely good levels for five years (assuming it cost you $200 each year)
  8. Thats just the engine when its cold, it will be fine once its warmed up. Additionally you need an ECU reset, just do a search for it and your car will be running fine.
  9. Depending on the condition of the engine and gearbox......those two items itself will fetch quite a pretty penny..............obviously not enough to cover the cost of writing off the car.........but better then nothing
  10. I would budget 6K minimum........... Supercharge kit from the states by the time landed would put you close to $4300 and then you need to do some minor stuffing around because it was originally designed for the celica so that leaves you with around $1700 So unless you go DIY even 6K will not be enough, keep in mind that you would be running with no I/C. You still need to get it tuned cause it comes with an Greddy Emanage Blue.......that will set you back more $ You could try a blitz kit which would fit quite well I think.......except that it cost even more then the greddy kit Its not as easy as slapping a S/C on and hoping everything will be fine.... You will need to upgrade other components on the car to make sure they compliment each other.....and also to get it engineered. Suspension and Brakes are the first thing that come to mind, followed by drivetrain(Clutch, LSD). Its alot to think about.........
  11. Thats the whole point of modifying...........finding a valid excuse to change to better aftermarket parts To be honest if we all really thought like that then there is no car modification scene, I understand and respect your opinion though.....Hell if I really wanted to I would of bought a Ra-65 Celica and dumped a 1g-gte into it or worse still and try to (*** forbid) get a 3s running in it. But cheers to xoom for taking the initiative and getting a turbo sportivo up and running!!
  12. Vinegar neutralises acids Just go with heaps of water if you can.....
  13. 150kw atw without going n/a would work too.........only downside is daily commuting..........which is why i'm after torque....... Sportivo is fine by yourself......but once you add a few passengers it feels slower then the 1zzfe :( I'm looking at the greddy s/c system for the celica........looks like less mucking around....screw you turbo people Gotta start saving up
  14. As Xoom stated clearly different.......but I think Voy means the crank pulley is the same....
  15. I was thinking about bolting a turbo on, my friend is in the process of bolting one on to his mr2 (4agze).........and after looking around my engine bay he said it can be done.......but might run into a few unknown things. I would be happy if I could get 150kw at the wheels..............but man.......slapping a turbo onto a car is not as easy as it would seem........Still don't know whether I should be chasing power down the N/A route or go FI....... If the guys over 9th gen can get turbo's running on their rollas why can't we do it as well??? Lack of inspiration???????
  16. Stock rods are quite beefy items......... BTW would a boosted 2zzge on approx 6psi worth of boost be ok without reinforcing the bottom end??
  17. Nope never went through, IIRC its only three wires that you need
  18. Honestly why compare.................An argument like this will never end............... Another thing is I think the Type R engines are hand built. Sportivo is a 'warm' hatch at best............Its not going to have bucket seats, LSD, short shifter, sports tuned suspension, thicker sway bars etc....Its an everyday car with a screaming engine........and being such a fat ***** car don't expect too much from it. If it was to be a hot hatch then they would of bought the three door over with its lower mass. Weight is an N/A cars worst enemy. BTW I love my sportivo!!
  19. So do I forward payment now or wait for a response from you guys?? Cheers
  20. I'm after the s12 if possible......................Is it still too late for me or what??? I hope I get an answer this time............Its the third time I've asked <_<
  21. With them referring to the fact that it can damage sensors, to a certain degree they are correct. Because K&N are oiled filters, small particles from the filter can go into the intake path clinging itself to the MAF sensor. That produces inaccurate reading, but its nothing a $10 bottle of electronic cleaning agent can't repair.
  22. Too way over hyped and if it fails to impress then your pretty much gone. Hatch is Butt Ugly, but the sedan is really nice!! 1 vote for the sedan!!
  23. If you haven't already, remove the stock intake snorkel.....gives your car a nice induction sound for about 10mins worth of work. But if you would like a CAI with a K&N extreme pod filter sings whereas APEXI power intake sceams at you!!!
  24. I think all you have to do is tune it in open loop mode as closed loop mode is already fine. I'm not sure if aggressive tuning will work on open loop mode.......I think Xoom or Rollamods can add some light into this, or alternatively perform a search, I believed its already been covered
  25. Believe it or not, most of the restriction in the intake system is the actual design of the intake itself. The filter poses no great restriction whatsoever, but you get a nice induction noise if you do go aftermarket.
