  1. If its about axel tramp, some people have had positive results with thicker front sway bars....or so as I'm informed via this forum. Not many people here change motor mounts. Would love to hear peoples experiences if any.
  2. Not directed to anyone in general, just that it should be wise for people to at least read the rules first. There is a whole heap of info regarding CAI its like one of the most debated topics ever on this forum. A search would net you about three pages of relevent results.
  3. Do a search on this forum it will provide you with peoples experience etc...Not a fan of repeat topics turning up time and time again
  4. even in third you can feel some minor slippage.......forget about lift altogether I can't boot it past 3K without axle tramp dramas I hate the wet weather!! I WANT TO GO FISHING!!
  5. Why muck around so much when you have to pretty much rebuild the whole engine, especially the pistons have let go. If you have a bulletproof bottom end then I can see why you would investigate into bolting a more efficient head as that is where most power is made or lost. If your intending to put it into a lightweight kit car then I suggest to just keep the 4A whole and get it put in. I can't answer your question as my knowledge in Toyota engines is not very very extensive so whether you can bolt the head on or not remains to be answered. But going by the code name and the fact that the 2A was intended to rev to 5.6K starting off with a 4A might be a much wiser idea as it was designed to be revved. Besides how many of the components left in the 2A do you intend to keep? 1. First its a 4A, 4th gen A series engine VS 2nd gen A series enegine. 2. Aftermarket support for the 4A is much bigger then the 2A Just something to think about
  6. It makes driving in this wet weather challenging......only thing I hate is the fact that spinning in the first two gears is oh so easy
  7. You won't regret it........just don't speed so you can enjoy the sound.
  8. A bit of common sense goes a long way, just stay away from 'huge' puddles. Kinda like if your car is lowered and your exiting the servo, underbody scratches anyone?
  9. That would be an absolute blast to drive around town. Hows the tranny handling the extra increase in torque and power?? Is it shifting fast enough through the first two gears?? Transmission cooler in the future perhaps.
  10. Assuming that he is a P-plater and still young, then go the coupe provided you can afford it. Unless you majorly need the 5 door hatch for shopping and commuting and stuff.....
  11. I have that noise only when it hasn't warmed up yet. Once warmed up it disappears and a different tone appears.
  12. Lowest I've seen is 11 on mine, I was wondering was it capped at that temp. But now I know its not.
  13. I have heard a turbo car with a SRI. Only thing I can hear coming from the engine bay is the turbo spooling (I think) and the blow off valve. A car with lift/vtec once in 'hi-cam' mode is really something worth listening to. Unless you like the spooling of turbo(s)...which is of course another matter entirely. Anyways click on the following link if you want to hear what it sounds like, cause thats pretty much how more sportivo sounded like once the CAI was installed. Link Cheers
  14. I'm not so sure if it is hissing or not, to me its just a rumble waiting to turn into a scream. I only can hear the sucking noise when its not warmed up yet, noisy if you ask me.
  15. Spending money on a car is never smart.... But I have never regretted spending money on my cars in the past!!!
  16. Have you heard a car with an aftermarket induction setup?? Cause my friend said that it sounds like an exhaust, except that its in the front instead of the back. CAI + Lift = AWESOME!! P.S. I know that the 4AFE has no lift, just saying it thats all.
  17. I wonder how the pricing would go on them I'm a fan of the Renault Clio Sport, so if anything similiar or better then I say yes!!
  18. 20V 4age sucks.......no offense though. It sure sounds sweet because of the Quads. 5 valve per head was more or less a marketing gimmick. The engine in the ITR are hand built or blueprinted dunno which one though. A vehicle modded to a high level will bring out the best of the cars chasis. Its kinda like makeup on woman, if the woman was beautiful to begin with then little to no makeup will still make her shine amongst others....whereas if you started with someone on the other side of the spectrum....
  19. As KT (aka Drift King) would say in his touge battles "Its all about balance not about power" Anyways back on topic... I think even if you fiddle with every aspect of the car to bring two cars up to the same level, there is one thing that you can't really change....that would be the chassis. Don't compare the corolla with any other purpose built sports cars, cause at the end of the day the sportivo is not one. But I love my corolla and would never trade in the 5 door hatch for a 2 door coupe.
  20. If you haven't already, you could try upgrading the grouding cable from your battery to your chasis to something beefier and make sure that the ring terminals have maximum contact to the chasis (i.e. sand back the paint until you get some metal) Cheers
  21. I don't think the K&N is that loud at all....I have an Apexi and that thing is louder I reckon. The apexi roars whereas the K&N screams like a girl, either way I reckon the noise from an intake is loud. Lots of comments from family members saying that I would definitely get pulled over if a police officer heard that.
  22. Went kinda off topic since I mentioned it, so apologies to all. I think its better if you get people to give you suggestions rather then ask them to help you decide. Cause it will just be topic bashing anything that is not a Toyota. :D
  23. I say mod the left hand side fog cover with a bit of mesh for some cold air into the intake....careful with water though
  24. If you get over the fact that the sportivo has the 2zzge in it, then I would say the Astra. The sportivo corolla is too old to be honest, a very dated design. But just go for a test drive and find out which one you prefer over all. If you can't get over the fact that the sportivo has lift then we all understand as well :D Unfair comparison if you ask me, should be Sportivo Vs SRI turbo. Which I would chose the SRI straight away. It will have better resale value anyway I think.
  25. I might get burnt for saying this but come on guys give it a rest. Do we need to stoop to such a low level?? Funnily enough I read through pretty much all the post regarding this topic and I'm somewhat appalled here... It in a way feels like bullying to me, and I suppose some humor would be great once in a while... but anyways Close topic?? Peace out
