  1. Resembles the front end of a yaris and slightly modded rear end of current corolla. Would be nice if they could get a slightly more aggressive front end though. Looks kinda weird to me to be honest...I hate to say this but the current civic looks better...
  2. I wonder what is left of using the 4age as a platform for 300-400kw....block and head??
  3. Problem is defining fully worked... 4AGZE...300kw....going to 400kw is asking heaps.
  4. Warning its a big file guys. Approx 28mb...and I'm on a cable connection. LOL
  5. The only other vehicle that I have experience with manual in is a Toyota Hiace and Ford Transit. Must say that it is easier to shift in those then the sportivo. I'm just wondering is this the fault of the gears inside the gearbox or the gearshift assembly??
  6. I believe its the stupid door trims rattling, had previous experience in my conquest. My driver side rattles and when I push the door trim in a bit it completely disappears, its driving me nuts though.
  7. Thank heavens for the alarm when you put it into reverse...I've put it into reverse a few times by mistake when waiting at the lights...lol Why is G-O-D censored?
  8. I think thats a problem that plague quite a lot of sportivos, if its still under warranty get it fixed by the dealer. NEVER TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. Try reading through this thread.
  9. Thats why I came online to ask what the people think. I'm not weak by anyones standard...ok maybe if you compare me to body builders and weight lifters, and maybe footy players. Only had it for two weeks, and coming from an automatic conquest its a huge improvement even without lift. But I was worried that maybe I had a stuffed up gearbox or something was wrong. I guess my gf has to put up with it then, my main concern was maybe it was a bit hard for her to drive. Does changing the oil in the tranny help? What about the TRD short shifter?? Cheers
  10. Hello, Just need a quick answer from the sportivo guys. Do you guys find it hard to shift into gear?? I'm not saying that it won't go in, its just that it requires a bit of strength to get it into gear. My gf uses both hands to put it into reverse . I can land lift going from 1st to 2nd really easily, so its not a gearbox problem. I just drove my brothers 1999 hiace and the gear shift is like so light and easy, not to mention I couldn't feel the clutch at all LOL. Also with the TRD short shifter would it require more force to shift or not?? What about changing tranny oil?? Anything to lighten the stick shifting would be good. Cheers
  11. Could you perhaps describe the rattle to us? High pitched, metallic, muffled etc...
  12. If its coming from the engine, then you might be pinging as everyone has mentioned already. Could be unlucky and hit a really ugly batch of fuel...its happened...this is from experience. One way to test out rattles is to get a 15" sub and run some low tunes through it...you'll be able to pinpoint your rattles in no time... Time to get some sound deadening!!
  13. Too much oil is bad for your car, likewise crap oil. Anyways I'm still a noob, I changed my oil and put quite a lot in. The car seemed to struggle a bit when starting up. I checked my oil level to find that it was over full. So I drained some of it out. The car started up much better and had much better power delivery. Its the way that an engine is designed, too much oil means that it is slowing down your crankshaft IIRC also damage your plugs. I think SR20DET had knife edged crankshafts to minimise drag when rotating. Check the photo out to see whats happening inside of an engine. Cheers
  14. Remeber to make sure that any part of the intake is not directly touching the engine bay, don't want it rubbing around and damaging your pod filter or SRI pipe. Cheers
  15. I guess you have already tried searching before posting. There are three bolts, well two and the other one is kinda like a bolt I guess. One can be accessed from behind the front left hand side tyre. The other two reside inside the bumper. Remove the underbody panels and have a good look around. Remember its three. I found that it was easier to remove if you unclip part of your left hand side front bumper. Trying to get to it through the fog light cover never worked for me, cut myself trying to be lazy.
  16. Capacitors are generally for rice value, its better to invest in a better battery then a capacitor. Capacitors only work well if your spending big money on them. If you are having problems with dimming lights around the car, its better to make sure that you have good grounding. A good start would be to upgrade all the wiring and contact points of the ground wire in your car. About $80 and an hour should see you solving any kind of dimming problems, followed by a good battery and last would be the capacitor.
  17. Complain and they should organise for you to get another inspection.
  18. Come on people lets keep it sensible... Just asking for opinions here and there, personal opinions/experiences would be helpful. To clarify it wasn't a bit warm...it was actually pretty hot. For me personally I believe that being such a long pipe the air will heat up quite a bit while travelling from the filter to the engine, not warmer then drawing from the engine bay though. You might as well say that a fan attached to a heatsink is uselss, get my drift?. I have studied alot with regards to heat transfer and pipe design, so for me personally I worry about those kinds of things. Lol, just need to know what people use in the automotive industry. Also the garden hose analogy is not very good, I will not go into why though. Cheers
  19. With regards to gases (air), temperature and volume are dependent on each other. If thinking of volume I might as well go turbo. Denser air will always be better. To be able to obtain better combustion you need more oxygen, which means more air. Cooler air is more densely packed then Warmer air. So cool air is better. Anyone here have experience with the CES CAI's?? Whats the effect of having the pipes HPC coated?? I know from previous post that this might be stir some trouble, lets just keep it civilized. Still kinda on topic, anyone thought of using bonnet vents to get rid of the hot air? Cheers
  20. A friend of mine has a CAI on his car, when he popped the bonnet to show me I touched the metal pipe to find that its actually pretty warm. We were a bit shocked... So todays question is: 1. Is anyone experiencing this problem? 2. How to fix it? 3. If you can't whats the point of a CAI when its going to heat up the air going into the engine?, besides maybe superior air flow from the aftermarket filter. I'm suspecting that maybe his pipe is touching the intake manifold which causes the heat from the manifold to be transferred to his CAI. He has a intercooler rubber tubing connecting it. Cheers
  21. any chance you are leaking out current in your setup?? I don't believe its your stereo at all cause its still less then 600wrms. You shouldn't need to change the alternator at all. Is your battery still capable of holdings its own charge?? You could of run into some bad luck with a bad battery...it does happen even with the better branded batteries. Also unless your doing really short drives here and there I believe you have enough time for the battery to charge. I have run my standard battery flat about 6 times and it still works like a charm.
  22. I usually shift into neutral and just hit the brake...ready to clutch into second if its about to go green.
  23. No power from removing the snorkel, but you get some sound. I love that sound over a CAI. But that was on my 1zz-fe, on the 2zzge it does nothing at all, can't hear any difference. Without the snorkel its sounds like a WRX in my opinion, not loud enough for everyone to hear but enough for you.
  24. Man I'm really surprised at that result!! and you were worried about running 16s down the quarter. Mid 8s usually mean a sub 16 1/4 mile. Still have the exhaust to come as well. Goodluck Cheers
  25. When it comes down to competition, anything that can be modified to extract more power (provided that it follows the rules) will be done. But on the road, don't bother to be honest. I believe its money wasted. As said, unless your out of things to mod then go get a hi-flow cat. I doubt that you'll see any notable difference. At the end of the day its your choice, don't let other people tell you otherwise :) Cheers
