  1. Normal commuting I usually change at 2.5-3Krpm, a bit more spirited I change between 3.5-4.5Krpm. Anything pass that I go to the redline...
  2. With most US made intake kits, the brackets most likely will not fit correctly. Although the engine layout is the same, the fact is there steering wheel is on the left hand side. You could probably fabricate some yourself, I know that even the TRD ones will fit but the brackets do nothing. I think the CES ones have brackets to bolt them in, not sure though. Cheers
  3. The way I see it is you must express yourself and don't worry about getting hurt. If you worry about that then you won't be moving forward, and will become stagnent. I've never had much luck with slapping a Pizza together (tried it once only), but I'm a good cook....I currently working as one. lol Its the suspense that is killing everyone, hahaha Cheers
  4. I'll give it a go myself. Thanks all for the help
  5. Now that you mention it, I heard something about the crank off a Tarago being able to use it to stroke the 2zz....or maybe its another engine. Well I think the people gave the stroked 2zz the 3zz name.. Doesn't make any sense to me as Toyota did produce a 3zz-fe (1.6L) so a 3zz-ge should be 1.6L with Lift and not a 2.0L 2zzge....

Black wheels give the impression of larger diameter....nice!! 2nd shot is blurry, read your manual for the digital camera...I only recently went through my manual to find that I've been doing something wrong to get blurry pics and its been 3 years...:(
  7. Then I guess my first impression was kinda on track.......thats going to be one hell of a ripper.... Former Sydney Roosters fullback Luke Phillips use to own a turbo charged celica (2zzgte), boosted with stock internals and made something along the lines of 160-180kw at the wheels.....
  8. What do you suggest to use for the clear coat?? Is it Acrylic?? Cheers
  9. So no one has found a set that is umm...almost exactly the same except larger??.... I was thinking of getting sportivo style wheels but in a larger size in the future..........I'm going to go cry now
  10. Anyways when I bought my corolla, the previous owner also had a TRD carbon fibre style grille...currently I have the stock grille on the car. The problem is that the protective clear layer of paint on the grille is starting to come off in certain areas. Anyone have any tips as to repairing the thing back to original condition. Cheers
  11. Me still lost on what the general goal of the engine buildup... Will this thing still be NA??
  12. I did say generally........I consider myself one of the more lucky ones, and it proves your point Mish.....woohoo. I think Sydney boys are shy....or maybe its cause I'm Asian
  13. I think the stock wheels look awesome, if only they were 17's or 18's instead of 16's....
  14. Guys generally prefer performance whereas girls prefer appearance, so if the guys could fix up their appearance then maybe they will attract more attention.
  15. Looks like some pretty serious work...May I just ask what exactly you are doing at this stage so far. I'm guessing its a 2zzge stoker kit aka 3zzge + Head work. If your saying stage 1 then I guess you'll be getting some FI slapped on. So its a 3zzge with low compression (8.8:1?) but then what baffles me is the springs...so maybe no FI but its all NA?? Also sleeves for the block...hmmm...I'm leaning towards NA at the moment. For the clueless people like me...
  16. IIRC on the 1nzfe equipped scion in the US, the exhaust has some sort of baffle that is controlled by the ecu to control the back pressure of the exhaust to produce useful low down torque. A change to an aftermarket system produced a detrimental effect. Not sure if that applies to the 3 door sportivo as it too has the 1nzfe in the engine bay.
  17. I would be interested in those numbers. I would prefer some more low down torque from the sportivo, by the time you hit lift and change to 2nd gear its already 80km/h...not much space for me to use lift on sydney roads...
  18. Well I haven't looked at the torque numbers for this though, if it produces useful torque between 2 - 4 k rpm then its worth it I reckon.
  19. I'm not sure if anyone has actually performed proper research into the removal of the snorkel and its effect on the overall performance of the vehicle. The resonator and inlet tract of the snorkel is not just to reduce the noise and comply with design regulations but in some cases help the engine perform better. The only example that I know of is adeversely affected is the Lancers, and my friend confirmed it by experimenting. Somewhere illustrated a loss of about 5kw and bunch of torque down low at the wheels which is alot for a car that puts out around 60 odd KW at the wheels. No bad reports with the 2zzge though
  20. Oh yeah, when I mean over ridden we don't mean that the stock ECU re writes. Its more that they modify their inputs to reach a targeted output.
  21. Tell him to put a sock in it......ok I'm sorry, not meant to sound mean. Selling you a SAFC while telling you that the camcon will get its setting overriden?? The sad fact is that any type of piggyback will get overriden with the 1zzfe ecu overtime....it won't happen straight away...but it will eventually. If I'm not wrong the CAMCON does control A/F and also VVTI settings, problem is finding the right settings I suppose. Have you been over to www.9thgencorolla.com? the people over there are reporting quite nice things about that little black box. When you think about it, If you leave the CAMCON permenantly on then the ECU will slowly correct the settings overtime, but once you turn it off....won't it revert back to normal?
  22. Could tell you to get a CAI, but I'm sure your not after that. I don't think it makes a big enough difference to warrant destroying your airbox. Just remove the snorkel and enjoy the sound. If you drill the box you will get much a throatier sound and better throttle response but thats about it, I doubt you'll get any more noticeble power. I think there is a member here that actually removed the bottom half of the box and used some foil and zip ties to secure the filter and upper air box assembly, can't remember who though.
  23. Ha! I've only used 10% of what Northy has spent. Only performance mod was a trust panel filter so far. The rest was the stereo system.
  24. Thanks for the info, I'll be looking into maybe making the gearbox feel less 'notchy' without changing the height of the stick. More research into roller bearings for the gearbox linkages.
