  1. the other option is going for an auto box and making it a GT style cruiser... auto box is easy to find, but once again shoe-horning that in as well as a big engine may be an issue... kinda like that idea tho... 1MZ-FZE w/ 4 speed auto (and possibly some sort of squential auto set up) could be interesting... get some aftermarket cruise control on there...
  2. When someone who isn't directly involved in a conversation fires up for no reason and makes it personal, and completely misses the point that your trying to make without even asking any questions and assumes that they know all. WTF?! really... **** that *****... and the thing that pisses me off more than it should is 1) having to defend my argument when THEY are the one misinterpreting what I'm saying, 2) them making it personal for no reason what-so-ever when they don't even know me, 3) mistaking speechlessness and shock for immaturity and 4) having to walk away when all I want to do is flame them... this is clearly THEIR problem and now I have to deal with it... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is all...
  3. It may just be me but the 1MZ looks bigger than the 5SG... And I still wanna make it legal, so 540hp at the front wheels is all good in theory, but i won't even be coming close to that and I don't wanna get pulled over and not have a leg to stand on. Isn't the 5SG a 4 cylinder? (I'm just guessing based on the fact its 2.2L). So my best options to find a box would be an E153 out of a camry, but failing that one out of an MR2 would be my next best choice?
  4. FYI - There's a few motels at Albion that have fairly reasonable rates for longer than 1 or 2 night stays from memory. Albion is fairly close to the CBD and near the inner city bypass and clem 7 motorways so getting from north to south and vice-versa will be fairly easy... Also close to Hoppy's (there's ur free plug Uncle Bren) :P
  5. good to know... still undecided as to which way I go atm... 2ZZ-GE's are rare to find too but go for about $1600 (not including wiring loom or gearbox) which is an expensive exercise when for $1100 - $1300 roughly u can get the 1MZ-FE + manual gearbox (from what you've said)... only problem is that amount of power going to the front wheels. Although other front wheel drives punch out higher kw's... and the corolla already has 4 wheel disc brakes, the power to weight shouldn't be an issue. Shoe-horning the set up into the small engine bay might be. All in all - more expensive 2ZZ-GE which would be easier to fit, or the 1MZ-FE which is cheaper to purchase but may cost more to fit if possible at all... OR I could just leave it alone and wait til its paid off and get something else... in the meantime while I stew over it I can focus on Project: Kei... on that note, does the E153 out of the AW20 - AW22 MR2 have the same fitment, i.e. transfer case and belhousing? if so there are more E153's for them advertised than there are for the Camry Touring / Sportivos.
  6. Hey guys, 1MZ-FE engines are easy to find, however having some difficulty tracking down an E153 manual gearbox. Has anybody had any luck tracking one down previously and if so what kinda money do they sell for on average?
  7. Yay Hiro!!! lol... are you coming to the Friday night meet up? which toyota are ya bringing?
  8. will be there but late... had to sacrifice working until 9:30 on Thursday night in order to get Sunday off... :(
  9. only if they're the exact same model... which would defeat the purpose of mating them because you'd end up with a retarded child... i.e. Toyota WiLL - LOL
  10. 1) Working in retail and having the rules of the company not protecting its staff... Yes - I understand that its good customer service to follow the principle of "the customer is always right", but what if the customer is wrong and they are clearly just an out and out liar... I can't tell them to go to hell or call them out on it and have to still cater to their every whim when they and I both know that they are scum! 2) Disabled People - and now before everyone gets angry, I'm talking about a select few here. The ones that spend the rest of their lives feeling sorry for themselves. I'm not saying they don't need extra help, but some of the crippies and wheelies milk it for all its worth. Especially when you ask them how it happened (because they have guilted you into feeling extra sorry for them) only to find out that it happened due to self infliction! "I was young and stupid" is usually how the sentence starts... YES YOU WERE! But I don't think the rest of the world has to feel sorry for you the rest of your life because you made a stupid, idiotic and retarded decisions decision - suck it up and live life to the fullest instead of sitting around like a sack of mouldy potatoes! The TV ads about not diving into shallow water have been on since the late 70's and they teach that crap at school. You have no excuse and no one to blame but ur own ignorance... Yes you may need some extra help but I'm not going to waste my time catering to your emotional blackmail this is all... lol
  11. IMHO - I'm strange... as soon as its suggested that it can't or shouldn't be done, i'm all over it like a fat kid on... well something that a fat kid would be all over... birthday cake, snickers bar, etc... I love the Echo's. If I could I would have a massive collection of all the weirdest and wonderful small cars you can find, so I don't disagree with ur desire to beef the little bugger up a bit, however without restating what has already been said, the guys are right. 1) Auto box - not overly strong once you start force inducting it and not much get up and go to begin with 2) Small mods to the engine for not massive but sorta primo dollar input for small kW gain 3) Big mods such as engine conversion, internals, turbo, gear box all pretty hexy and at the end of the day u still have an echo... for the kinda money you will be dropping into it for that price, my advice would be to search around for an Echo Sportivo. Already has the 1.5L engine, will be cheaper than doing the conversion, will have a manual gearbox so you won't be inconveniencing ur wife because she'll still have her car (for the auto), and you will still need to strengthen the internals for forced induction but if ur keeping it N/A, a CAI / SRI with pod filter, slightly lower suspension, and exhaust will give a couple of extra KW, not cost u too much, and have the car sounding and looking quite nice... I'm probably off track as I get the feeling u get to drive the Mrs's car but at the end of the day its still her car and u want to make it a little more beefy... in its current state its gonna suck money to do the things you want, and for the sorta money ur gonna end up pouring into it u can get an echo sportivo... but don't let my opinion waver you at all... I don't think its practical but if you believe it than you can achieve it :)
  12. the one at the airport is still reasonably close to the CBD... 10mins tops... failing that, instead of looking northside, perhaps you could look just southside of the CBD around Woolloongabba, annerly, etc... just a thought...
  13. as per usual I will be there... lol... yay@me... what are u doing for work Hammo?
  14. that would actually make me wanna mow the lawn... and i'd be done in 20 minutes flat...
  15. so much win!!! DUH! WINNING!!! ftmfw! that's somewhere between bangin 7 gram rocks and tinkie winkie's purse!
  16. because unless ur an enthusiast or a collector, u would look at that and think, "For a little bit more than that I can get a brand new car... why would I pay that much for an old car that you can't get parts for?" he could have asked for more, but he probably realises that at the end of the day he needs to sell it for whatever reason so put a fair price on it... if i wanna sell something to have it gone and not really worried if i make money on it, i sell it for below what its worth just to see the ***** end of it...
  17. that is the most mint little car i've ever seen! so jealous... I had a friend in highschool who had a corolla of the same vintage (which kinda looked the same, but just the sedan version)... the interior reminds me of my old ford escort too... *sigh* love little old cars... so much character!
  18. i've had to organise itineraries for certain things previously within my working environment, and you have to remember that whilst taking all due to care to see that everyone is catered for, at some point u need to draw a defined line in the sand and say, "OK, this is what's happening, ur either in or out"... the sucky part about this is that if its crap its all on ur head... but thats part of the fun of doing an itinerary... lol... You can please some of the people some of the time, but u can't please all of the people all of the time...
  19. top up with Castrol GTX 20W50... not draining whats left of the oil and replacing the filter when I'm a week out from a service... and I need to pay for it so i can get my warranty book stamped... on the plus side, the existing oil whilst slightly discoloured is looking nice and clean. Would dare say that someone has put synthetic oil in at the last service hence the less than desirable fuel consumption (whilst good could be better)... I have specified to the garage what I want done - Castrol GTX oil, leave the pod filter alone, i've just serviced it, and don't fix anything without telling me... lets hope they keep up their end of the bargain...
  20. i know i'm not attending the national meet due to getting married... but i have 2 days a week off with ***** all to do so if there's anything I can do to help with the annual meet i'm more than happy to... i'm good at organising *****...
  21. I own a car so I don't have to walk... what is this buggery you speak of - walking... lol... OK, my thoughts on the situation... - 2nd Saturday every second month (2 and 2 - easy to remember) - 3:00pm onwards - soonest I can be ready to do anything outside of work and gives everyone a chance to do the stuff they need to do at the start of the weekend... - Meet at existing meet spot, depart no later than 3:30pm - otherwise see you at the venue, take a short cruise to somewhere not too far away - Mt. Gravatt Look-out, Wellington Point, Woody Point, Redcliffe Pier, Mount Coot-tha, Shorncliffe - this way there are destinations northside and southside to keep it fair (open to suggestion of more - these were just off the top of my head)... - Summer months - organize a BBQ of some sort (BYO steak / chops and alcohol (if applicable) - plus small donation towards canned soft drinks, snags, onions, bread, sauce, etc... $5.00 each adult perhaps? - Winter months - meet at a local club / pub for a counter meal or something similar - not too expensive as it would be good to make this family friendly so 4 ppl at Hog's Breath for instance could be a bit of a stretch for some... - Have it Bi-Monthly as most of us see each other nearly every week, and then usually see at least one other person within a week somewhere or other, so if it were to be every month that would be 5 organized meets a month and several inadvertent runnings into... Possibly verging on excessive... I like you guys - but still... - Some of us have families, partners, etc... So we need to make sure that this is the occasion where we leave it open to have the extremities of our Toyota based family present - if that makes sense... - Name for the event - Brisbane TOCAU Bi-Monthly Family Fun Cruise... Mick.Wheelz - to attend in Pedo Bear costume blasting "The Teddy Bears Picnic" from a ghetto blaster (OPTIONAL) - LOLOLOL... - If anyone likes the idea of this but it seems too in-depth or requires too much co-ordination - I'm happy to throw my hand up to organize this... thats my 48 cents worth... lol - had this idea in the back of my head for some time so I have spent a little time thinking about it... was gonna sit on it until after the annual meet was outta the way :P
  22. Oh and even tho I said it in pm. Thanks heaps.
