  1. lol thats the same sub as I'm rockin the Sherpa lawz! haha... Speaking of which - the following has been done to my cars in the last 3 weeks... - picked up a set of watanabe knock offs for $80 - resprayed them (in black) and put new rubber on them (for the Sherpa) - spray painted the drums and calipers subaru blue on the sherpa - momo seat covers and new floor mats for the sherpa - no name multimedia head unit with US Audio 250w amp, 12" Kenwood 1200w sub, and clarion 3way splits in the sherpa - New KYB rear struts for the Corolla And today I have to take one of the wheels back to the tyre shop because its losing air severely so not sure what they have done but they need to fix it... and will probably wash both cars today, start dying the interior bits and pieces of the sherpa, and possibly fulsh the radiator to see whether I need to buy a new one or not...
  2. just a side thought - for the amount of money and time its going to take to rebuild the 1JZ - would it be worth getting a 2JZ front cut cheap with low km's and dropping that in? Whats ur estimated rebuild cost on the motor? I'll have a look around and see what I can find a 2JZ going for - and failing that u can always drop a 1UZ quad cam in and chuck a couple of TD05 or VF35 subaru turbo's on it with a custom manifold... i know someone who can weld the flanges in too ;) Just a thought
  3. hey Lawz, what do u mean by reconditioning? as in fixing the gutter rash and giving them a new coat of paint? If so that can be done cheaply... if you want to do it quick and nasty to make them look pretty so u can sell them off to recoup some cash for a new pair - or if u want to hold onto them for a track set / back up set then it can be done properly and still relatively cheaply... let us know because even tho i did my chevoit mk II's cheap and nasty, i know how to do them properly too thanks to MCM and i'm not too shabby with spray painting these days either ;) Cheers,
  4. how many km's were on it tho? once you reach that 200,000km mark everything starts to need to be getting replaced and the car starts to literally eat money... QLD Govt cars are quite good because they swap them at 40,000km at the worst... but the place I work for, for instance, has a small fleet of cars, and although they are maintained, they have done around the 200,000km mark in a 4 years period and are having to have various bits and pieces replaced and the vehicles aren't that old... they get trashed and serviced but are still starting to show their use-by date...
  5. on my current cars, not much... on all of the cars I've ever owned, too much... :D
  6. lol - i had the same thought before I looked at the date... i was wondering why anyone would pay more than $5K for an avalon... This is a hard lesson to learn... I have learnt this lesson with a car and from now on I trust my gut instinct... The deal seemed too good to be true - so here is a list of phrases to NEVER believe from a used car dealership, and in fact, if any of these lines are dropped you should just cease talking immediately and walk away with no explanation: - 1 female owner (thrashed by a school mum trying to fit everything into her day) - previously owned by a little old lady just to go to the shops (never serviced, never maintained, never driven long enough for the engine to warm up causing damage) - it was a fleet vehicle, it has high km's but it was serviced and maintained (now this isn't always true, but there is a high chance that things will start continually going wrong due to the age of the engine and chassis in kms - regardless of service history) I've had all of them given to me before and after my first experience with BS from a dealer, as soon as they try and give me some kinda back story that sounds too good to be true, it must be and I walk away and don't give it the chance to bite me...
  7. perhaps the mechanics / electrics to engage this automatically are faulty? Surely Toyota won't get the ****s if you take it to another mechanic for a second opinion and get written proof if there is something wrong? If ur mounting a case against them then getting all the information and evidence you can would be in your best interests...
  8. whilst waiting for bits and pieces for the corolla to arrive I test fitted some universal coilovers on the sherpa and the new watanabe (knock offs) that I bought for it... Uber annoyed because the wheel studs are too short so now I have to find a set of WRX wheel studs to accommodate my wheels... :( Today I'm hoping to have them cleaned and either painted or ready to be painted tomorrow... and hopefully I'll find a set of wheel studs somewhere today - which would be nice... also purchased a set of Rays super expensive wheel nuts on eBay for $12.00... hahaha
  9. why would u need to get a slug wet... i'm pretty sure they're fairly slimey from the get-go... lol...
  10. with brakes its about safety and stopping power so my recommendation is ALWAYS to go for brand new if they are beyond the point of being machined... Newcastle is a foreign place to me other than going through there twice on a bus - but others on here may be able to offer some advice... I'll hit up Autobarn and Repco for u when I'm in there next - dare say it will be on my days off, and see what the best price they can give me is (as I know ppl that work there) and anyone else I might know... what are you after? standard rotors? slotted? slotted and drilled? I'll get prices on all of the above in the meantime :P
  11. Yesterday Morning (Thursday Morning) on Loganlea Rd - spotted Sportivo Ash lol... as I flew past him... hehe
  12. Yeah Branno - i'm sure the girl you are talking about would really appreciate it if she knew you were referring to her as a "bitches"... <_< Great meet AGAIN last night... they are really getting huge!!!! AWESOME stuff...
  13. damn Mick - took the words right outta my mouth... lol...
  14. I'm keen and in as long as you can let me know the day, date and time so I can pull a sickie... ;)
  15. Random piping can be good but for a little bit more u can get the one engineered for ur car but from pics of the engine it looks like it's just a straight piece. Go with a Drift dual cone oiled filter or k&n dual cone oiled filter. Best 2 I've found on the market.
  16. Hey Guys, Been on the hunt for a replacement clutch for my Subaru Sherpa (which is exceptionally hard to find a) in Australia and B) at a reasonable price) and came across an eBay store based in Brisbane (Ships Australia Wide) who do Exedy Clutches and Brakes in general - Their Heavy Duty and above clutch prices are on par with everyone else who can do a reasonable price it seems, however their Exedy OEM Replacement clutches are possibly some of the cheapest you will find. Check'em out! They also do Brake parts and accessories (if that is the correct term) which I also believe would be of a reasonable price given their clutches - i.e. an Exedy OEM Corolla Clutch AE92 - AE112 they sell for $195.00. With my usual discount I get the cheapest i've been quoted is $220.00 and the most expensive was around the $450 mark for the same part... http://stores.ebay.com.au/The-Brake-Depot/_i.html?_nkw=Toyota&submit=Search&_sid=1026963706 I've purchased from them with good results but that was only 1 item. I'd say they're worth a try as the lady was very reasonable and easy to talk to but as I've only made one purchase I can't confirm beyond this. If anyone is need of anything urgently PM me (or FB me if ur on my list) and I can give her direct number, otherwise check out her eBay store. They prices are quite good from what I can tell so don't try and lowball her - she is not Boost Losing - lol... Cheers...
  17. the cost involved in transplanting a 2ZZ after all the money and time and effort that has gone into supercharging the 1ZZ would be 1) a waste of time, and 2) more costly than just going and buying a Corolla Sportivo... not to mention painstakingly annoying and difficult...
  18. from what I've heard Ash, the engine and gearbox are coming from Subaru, everything else is going to be toyota... that being said, if its just the 2.0L Boxer engine (EJ20) then I guess its a good thing that we have Ash as a regular member and Craig (from Oz Foz) who frequents the Brisbane meets lol... I'm glad I know Subaru ppl now, because no joke, I WILL be buying one of these - one way or another... they are the SEX!!!
  19. lol another Corolla in Sydney, who woulda thunk it :P nah JK dude, nice looking car... but seriously there's alot of corollas in sydney...
  20. Sorry for hijacking the thread Tash also lol... have studied Japan heaps out of interest and would love to go there, but have never been... i think I'm banned by my wife (OODEE) as I will probably buy another project lol...
  21. in fact it wasn't even a motorcycle gang - it was a scooter gang... young punks with not much money with vehicles that couldn't be modified too much mechanically would spend what they did have in making their scooters look insane and menacing at the same time... much of the time bosozoku gangs are associated with the Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) because they are heavily involved in crime, although they are usually the guys that are paid by the Yakuza to do petty crimes as opposed to more full on organized crime as they are punks that are usually up for anything. In any bosozoku gang there are usually at least 1 or 2 members actually in the Yakuza as a point of contact, but in general these kids just go out and cause complete mayhem with insane looking vehicles to ***** ppl off... Someone I know went to Japan last year and actually took footage and uploaded it onto Youtube of a Bosozoku gang riding down the streets taking up both lanes smashing all of the car windows and panels with pipes, bats, chains, etc... and it wasn't like 3 or 4 or even 20 bikies we get in Australia, i'm talking 100 - 150 scooters with some having 2 ppl on them... lol sorry - passionate about japanese car culture and sub culture - end history lesson... :P
  22. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OBX-Racing-Exhaust-Headers-92-97-Toyota-Paseo-1-5L-5EFE-/200622457166?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb607c14e - exhaust headers / extractors http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Paseo-Magnaflow-Catalytic-Cat-Converter-/140373444551?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20aee8c7c7 - high flow catalytic converter (coupled with the headers and ur existing cat back exhaust this will give you a full exhaust with headers) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/92-93-94-95-99-TOYOTA-PASEO-1-5-1-5L-I4-AIR-INTAKE-KIT-/330584551347?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf85fefb3 - short ram air intake - I'd recommend going and getting a 4" Dual Cone Drift or K&N Pod Filter (stocked readily at Autobarn) and not using the CCS (Cheap Chinese $H!T) one that comes with it... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-SHORT-SHIFTER-COROLLA-CELICA-PASEO-STARLET-NOVA-/200447877622?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eab9fe1f6 - Short shifter gear selector shaft replacement - reduces throw by up to 40% meaning faster gear changes... Not a bad way to spend a couple of hundred dollars if you want to do some quick, easy, and effective mods :)
  23. photo shoot = everyone lines up and gets semi-professional to professional shots taken of their car in different lights and effects etc... u'll find that alot of guys on car forums are into photography and use photo shoots as a chance to practice their photography skills and give the ppl who's cars they've used as subjects some awesome free pics to use as profile photos or avatars... Pete's a good shot... if he's organized or going to this then I'd be there... When he was up in QLD I would've got him to take some photos of Rolly except i was only a few km's out from having a service so couldn't drive too far and Rolly was dirty... FYI - I didn't go into much detail in our convo yesterday but ur car has a 5E-FE engine, which although is only a 1.5L, modding them is big in the states so that eBay link i sent you with a heap of parts is good once you sort through and find what you want... the overall design of the engine isn't that much different from the 4A-FE and the 7A-FE which are the 1.6L and 1.8L variants (respectively)... If you have a cat back sports exhaust then my first recommendation would to be get some sort of a SRI (Short Ram Intake) or CAI (Cold Air Intake) going as soon as you can for a bit of extra response and some even more noise... using a pod filter along side your exhaust adds an extra noise / note and compliments the exhaust note well... I've done these on 4 cars now both with bought kits and doing it myself, so if you want any advice let me know... :D
  24. After a week or so of planning with a mate who had the appropriate skills and a quick phone call to another mate who had the appropriate equipment - the problem was resolved. Now that the filter was sticking out of the bonnet, I need to ensure that it was adequately and securely covered so as to avoid any problems with the boys in blue - with a WRX bonnet scoop... At the end of it all a couple of celebratory rums were had, and my mate and I appreciated a job well done. Next on the list are a set of universal coil overs to lower it, front mounted spot lights, and sanding down and respraying the bottom section of the car to give it a yellow and black 2 tone effect... Will keep you all updated :)
