  1. NGK BKR5EYA are all I've ever used, no need for platinum/iridium etc.
  2. I assume you're after parts for a ZZE123 Sportivo and not an AE112 Sportivo...
  3. They're not common but not rare, and not really worth anything either. Looks pretty clean and straight with low ks so $1k wouldn't be unreasonable, just don't expect much demand for it.
  4. What kind of info do you need? It's an SV11 if that helps you narrow searches down, technically the first generation Camry, the Celica Camry which came before it (not sold here) was basically just a re-skinned Carina.
  5. Why speculate? Yes a relay could be the problem. So could a host of other things, so don't go blindly testing or replacing. If you're even half competent at reading a wiring diagram and using a multimeter then just test each component in the ignition system for power/closed circuit, starting at the spark plugs and working your way back through the distributor, coil etc etc until you find the component which is faulty.
  6. You're forgetting modification to the firewall to make the engine physically fit (you're trying to shoe-horn a big north-south straight six into an engine bay designed for an east-west V6/4), tunnel mods to fit the gearbox in (V160s are HUUUUUUGE), tailshafts, rear driveshafts, rear hubs to suit the fact that it's no longer an *****-dragger (which probably means all new rear suspension too). Come to think of it, you'd need a new fuel tank too since the diff and driveshaft would be going through that area. Plus it would have no hope in hell of being registered as a road car (OP hasn't said anything about being track/drift/drag-only).
  7. If those are the rears, what the hell do the fronts look like?
  8. Trace the ignition system back until you find power. That'll be where your problem is
  9. If you remove the gearbox you might be able to fit it in the boot. Across the back seat might be another possibility, but make sure to put a tarp or some sheets down so you don't get oil and grease on the seats, and use the seat-belts to strap it down so it doesn't hit you in the back when you brake.
  10. Starter motors engage the flywheel/flex-plate ring gear to turn the engine....they have nothing to do with spark plugs at all...
  11. Toyota actually specify a 4kW power increase running 95 rather than 91 RON in the Aurion
  12. Group A/WRC cars do NOT run standard road-car suspension, especially not on dirt rallies like the Safari....
  13. NGK Australia website shows both a BKR6EYA-11 (which is a copper plug) and a BKR6EIX-11 (which is the Iridium) plug as being suitable for a '95 SXV10. It also lists BKR6EP-11 as being the relevant platinum plug replacement for both the copper and iridium plugs.
  14. Just about every auto store have a catalogue next to the wipers listing which blade etc suits which car. Wiper manufacturers (Tridon, Bosch etc) also have these on their websites.
  15. Physically, yes of course they can remove your engine and swap in a different one without telling you. It's also highly illegal. Engine number will be recorded on the registration, and any change to that number has to get updated with the RTA/RMS. Sounds like you're just being paranoid, a lot of smash repair places are quite busy and cars will sit there for a while until they get fixed. Also, has your insurance assessor gone over the car yet? Maybe they're waiting on that to happen (and insurance agents are often lazier than smashies, especially if they are going to have to pay out) Also, this doesn't belong in the "86 Club" section....
  16. No, they'll say that the speedo reading meets ADRs - why would a salesman admit that their product is "faulty" (by your logic, not the law) and can be adjusted by the user (which would probably void warranty too)?
  17. Hiro

    Hiro's AE102

Dealer-fit optional extra I believe, Euro not JDM though.

    Hiro's AE102

Perfect condition never-fitted NOS ultra-rare optional Hella grille. Hella cool... Even comes with all the wiring, just need a new grille emblem. Had to cut part of the air-con fan shroud off though, guess Euro models don't have much need for air-con...
  19. Are you sure it's the starter motor and not your battery?
  20. The noise it makes will be similar to crunching gears in a manual, except probably a bit higher pitched. Hard to miss unless you're deaf or have the music cranked, so if you didn't hear anything (and the car still starts normally) then probably nothing happened. Still a practice to avoid though, just in case.
  21. Did you hear any grinding/crunching noises? In the old days you'd run the risk of damaging the starter motor and the flywheel ring gear, these days I'm fairly sure most cars have an over-ride which prevents activation of the starter motor if the engine is already running (a very simple circuit and something which I think should be standard on every car).
  22. There's no such thing as an SW30 - it's either an SW20 or ZZW30.
  23. Resonators in the intake serve a similar purpose (but work through different means) to resonators in the exhaust - they cancel out particular frequencies to make the intake sound quieter.
  24. Only 20-odd years after people started importing '90s JDM cars into Australia, the RTA has finally released a number plate which can fit into the rear bumper without being bent/cut/shaved, albeit American (12"x6") rather than Japanese (13"x6.5") size. Ordered these less than 2 weeks after they first became available, when Cara went to pick them up the lady at the RTA said they were only the second pair she had scene in all of Newcastle. I expect to see them get more common as people realise that they are available, but for now they get a lot of attention.
