  1. need more colours. pricks. im sure they will come in good time. You got to take what you can get - the RTA is slower than a race between a sloth and an Icelandic glacier. Judging by how long it took them to get the import sizes, I'd be guessing new colours some time around 2024.
  2. If the weather is like this tomorrow I'll probably pull out, Nasho and Mac Pass/Jamberoo will be slippery-as and the Corolla is really good for wet grip at the moment (the drive down to Wisemans Ferry last week highlighted the poor wet performance of the Kumhos), and with the missus away I could really use the time to catch up on some work on both the cars
  3. If you can afford it and were considering lowering the car/replacing the springs at any stage, then it is worthwhile doing them at the same time just to save on labour/effort/wheel-alignments. $270 sounds reasonable for a set of 4, I've had Lovells Lows in my Corolla for the last 5 years or so with no complaints
  4. Method should be exactly the same as replacing a sealed-unit strut (spring compressors, undoing the top strut nut when the car is still on the ground etc etc), except that once the strut is out of the car you have to undo the gland nut holding the insert into the strut body and remove the insert.
  5. Route map says yes, the entrance to the Royal would be a good spot (before the ranger booth), usually works well
  6. Hipermax GTs? Nice...
  7. Sometimes you just have to be a pioneer...
  8. And like I said, Taragos aren't popular amongst the modders. Not many people have experience or interest in them - they click on a new thread when it pops up, see that it doesn't interest them that much, and then move on. That, combined with the very vague intent you presented to begin with (we get a lot of "school holiday threads" on here - vague/wishful-thinking threads from people who usually have poorly researched, not bothered to think things through, or assume that "my mate can fix/install anything for $50/case-of-beer" or "I've got X engine sitting in my backyard, is there a bolt-in kit to fit it to Y car") "What engine will fit?" is an incredibly vague question that needs further clarification. A Ferrari V12 will "fit" if you put your mind to it and modify the chassis enough. Budget, how much power/performance you want (bit extra power for a daily, track car, drags, burnout machine etc), skills, time, is it going to be road-registered/engineered etc are all things that need to be addressed and will narrow down the search significantly Plus, search-engine daemons such as Yahoo and Google regularly visit threads to update their caches - these count as views but obviously not posts.
  9. I think you need to work out exactly what you are trying to accomplish and go from there - seems like you're throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks, which is always a recipe for disaster when it comes to modifying cars.
  10. The Soarer has an identical grille in an identical spot, it's where the in-cabin temperature sensor for the climate-control sits. Personally reckon it's a pretty poor spot for a mic, down behind/below the steering wheel and near knees, at the top of the a-pillar or next to the rear-view mirror are the traditional spots for best voice pick-up
  11. From what I've read of the Hoonivan that's going a full mid-mount behind the seats (rather than the normal under-seat position) - that much effort and ANYTHING will fit, like the Transit van with a mid-mounted Jag TTV6 engine they had on the Top Gear Ashes special (which was actually a secret Jag test mule during the development of the XJ220)
  12. Quick look at the specs, since a "V8" Landcruiser could mean several things: 1VDFTV turbo diesel V8 Max torque: 430Nm @ 1200-3200 rpm (single, Troopy), 650Nm @ 1600-2600 rpm(twin, 200-series) 1URFE Max torque: 439Nm @ 3400rpm 2UZFE Max torque: 410Nm @ 3400rpm If cruising rpm is the same amongst all models (and I wouldn't be surprised if the diesels are taller due to the lower red-line), 2500rpm @ 100kph, then both petrol engines below max torque (which means a kickdown for overtaking), and both diesels are bang in the meat of their torque "plateau".
  13. Got a link? At the very least I'd assume you'd have to cut/shut the whole front floor-pan, lift the front seats, as well as work out how to run the accessories (since on the 2TZ they run off an auxiliary shaft to the front of the nose). By no means a bolt-in conversion, and even if it is possible it'll be ridiculously expensive (assuming it can even be registered with the work to the floor)
  14. If they could fit a V6 in there I'd be mightily impressed
  15. The original post was about changing the overdrive - I was simply pointing out that changing the diff ratios would change all gears, not just overdrive. Although depending on what gearbox the L/C uses these days, there might be a different ratio box in another model that has a taller top gear You just answered your own question - nothing wrong with staying in 5th all the way from 60 to 110. Hell, I can potter around town in my Corolla in 5th @ 60kph, the same gear I use at 110kph on the freeway (granted it is doing 3200rpm on the freeway, but it's a 4-cylinder city car, not a cruiser). Not every car (especially not 5-speeds) need moon-shot gearing like a 6-speed SS Commodore. Remember that L/Cs are designed to be loaded up - an extra two tonnes0 of cargo and/or trailer means you want to have slightly shorter ratios so you're not constantly changing down a gear at the slightest incline
  16. Must mean that there aren't many options out there. In all seriousness, the old egg-vans aren't exactly popular to modify in Aus, and the mid-engine layout combined with the factory engine practically laying on its side means that there isn't much room to bolt anything in. There are supercharged variants in Japan, but that'd probably be it as far as performance mods are concerned.
  17. Any change to diff ratios will affect EVERY gear, not just overdrive - say you want to get top gear down to 2000rpm for 100kph, that's a 20% change which means every gear will be 20% taller. And anyone who is racing and changing diff ratios depending on the track would be running complete aftermarket diffs anyway (and most people aren't that serious), not modifying stock diffs
  18. He's after seats, not seat belts. Please refrain from any commercial advertising unless you are a financial supporter of the club or have approval from Administration. To the OP - SX/GTi seats should bolt straight in, as should import AE92 Levin seats, both will provide significant improvements in support. From memory the later AE10x/11x seats should also fit, but I'd be double-checking the rails before forking out money just in case.
  19. Check that the boot isn't split somewhere - no point tightening clips/clamps if the leak is coming from a tear just behind it.
  20. If it was a really neat minter then $3k might be reasonable, sounds like he's trying to recoup the cost of his paint job though (which you never get back). Is it a full custom job or just a re-spray in the original colour? The AE92s were very popular with the fully hektik Autosalon crowd so lairy paint and chrome wheels are unfortunately a common sight, and often devalue the car significantly if the buyer isn't into the exact same style.
  21. It's an A-powered Corolla - it'll run until the cows come home (as opposed to a K-powered one, which will outlive the cows themselves). Parts are cheap, plentiful, and for the most part the car and engine are bulletproof. AE92s are susceptible to rust in a few key places (windscreen/a-pillars, hatch, fuel filler mainly), the manual gearboxes can develop issues with the third-gear synchros over time (and can pop out of 5th easily if you rest your hand too much on the gear stick when cruising) and the engines are known to burn oil once they get old, but nothing major. As for value, if it's clean with no rust and good rego then it's probably worth $1-2k, obviously the SX/GTi 4AGE-powered versions are more desirable (and also more likely to be flogged/poorly modified) but a late-model with low ks can be just as good (if not better) as a runaround/daily.
  22. Tried asking Toyota? You used to get little brush bottles of touch-up paint when you bought a new car
