  1. can it be renamed 'post-cruise discussion' that way there will be no confusion. Upcoming cruises can be on the main page where they are visible and once they are over... it's off to the bin... I mean 'post-cruise' section ;)
  2. Just means the steering wheel was not 100% true when they did the alignment. I have the same problem, It's off by maybe 3 degrees. It only really bothers me when I'm reversing as I like to use the steering angle as a guide. it's fixed by shortennig/lengthening the control arms but keeping the alignment. I don't advise doing this without the alignment measureing tools.
  3. so how much does it cost for Toyota to do the install over, say, the guys who are working on your car? I must admit, I was looking the the service manual and how to disassemble the gearbox and recondition the other day I noticed it was a bit of a bitch to work on...
  4. well they were in the meet thread but it's now gone :(
  5. along with the pics from the last cruise... :( perhaps it's time to start a post cruise section for discussions and pics etc and move spent topics there rather then trash them
  6. couldn't said mechanic negotiate with toyota to borrow said tool on the price of a painful slow death if it were to be damaged/lost/broken?
  7. it's a full days work for a mechanic or 2 I'm wanting to do LSD, Clutch and Flywheel all at the same time to save on labour costs. Shao, I looked at the quaife gear sets too, but not real interested in a dogbox for the street... or the 4000 pound pricetag...
  8. the 1ZZ and 2ZZ 60 foot should be near identical, maybe even better for the 1ZZ as it has more torque down low. ;)
  9. what's 20 seconds in your day to wait for the cyclist to go passed the corner so you can turn... but on a lighter note... try OZEPARTS.COM.AU ;)
  10. I think Gipper in Victoria has one on his little beast with the massive brakes...
  11. hehehehe that was a good night. Welcome :)
  12. he only wheelspun because the track was so icy cold... on the warmer track you go sooo much more grip... just look at my 60 footer... still the best yet, and on the stock Bridgestone ER30s
  13. nice, they've updated their website :)
  14. Spring is perfect... if it's not wet... warm track temp = more grip, combined with cool air temp = more hp it's the perfect balance. The night we ran in the Autumn (YDOIT4, SyxXPac and Myself) it was 24 degree track temp and 15 degree air temp. Perfect :)
  15. ring Blairs at Shellharbour and get quotes for some Toyos... http://www.toyo.com.au/ the Tramio R1R is more suited as a road tyre then the R888 and both come in that size :) If you don't want a semi slick, the Proxes T1R (or the T1S they are repacing) or the Proxes 4 are great too.
  16. So for a track day car the Helical type is the one to get then. Cheers for that Bills :) Any idea on how long the clutches on the clutch type ones usually last for? If anyone can shed more light go right ahead. I'm still confused as to which brands make which type...
  17. OK so I've been doing some searching and here are the options I have uncovered to date. I was wondering is there was any more light people could shed on this matter with pro and cons of each. I know there are helical, viscous, clutch type etc LSDs but what are the pros and cons of each? well anyway... here's the options for our cars... 18. I think this lovely picture that Bill introduced us to is relevant about now... Denso vs NGK would be SFA difference...
  19. dude, do you really need a new topic for a ongoing converstaion. My advice. Talk to K-MAC. They are $295 each from memory and I'm not aware of anyone having them fitted on here.
  20. neither Red Bull or Renault will be any good next year with the switch to Bridgestone. I rate Red Bull as the better prospect though for the future with great funding, a drive to win and most importantly Adrian Newey designing the cars ;)
  21. Damn thats nasty!! :o Maybe the soarer had synchro issues to start with?? But it doesn't affect Subie owners which is wierd.. most of them say they have vastly improved shifting, maybe because Subaru gearboxes are terrible to shift to start with. I think it might affect some gearboxes and not others, but i guess always better to be safe than sorry ;) nope, the gearbox was fine before he used it. Their technical specs clearly recommend their MTL (manual transmission liquid) series for synchromesh gearboxes. The lightweight shockproof is for dogboxes and diffs... 2nd line states 'not recommended for most syncro-type transmissions' see here...http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlub...amp;subcatID=20 EDIT: weiwei and Corey... ahh, I see the superlightweight, not the lightweight. But still, they don't recommend for synchro-type transmissions as it can be 'slippery' (their words)
  22. no, it's worse... he's driving around in an Avalon...
