  1. ACCC - Petrol pricing Hey guys.... (ummm and girls too) Here is a site I think you should check out, if you plan well you can use the pricing cycles to choose the right day to fill up on the cheap!!!! Yeah, and like they said... the manual actually says that the light comes on with 10L in the tank though I suspect that is actually between 8-9L as i've filled over 50L into the tank before without the light on. The lowest i've ever gone was filling 58L... needless to say I was driving very slowly to the petrol station. Cheers Dylan
  2. I tryed for the headcount but unfortunately all the heads were squished into their a***s....
  3. Yeah I was being good and keeping the speed limit, the those bends can still be fun at 60 ;) :D :D :D But yeah, I scored a few bugs on the way, I'll do a headcount later...
  4. We were at homebush until about 7 because we waited for Screaminrolla, sorry mate.... I really gotta get me one of those GPS thingys michael, that thing is coooool... B) Next time, hopefully, the good pics this time will bring more out!!!! But Screaminrolla took us down to Campbelltown and through a few great (narrow) back roads and we finished up in Picton. Zee and I enjoyed a nice easy run down Mt Kiera on the way home from there too... :D :D :D
  5. Here you go guys, a few pretty ones!!!! :P :P Gee that sunset was niiiiice!!!!
  6. Was a good night guys, was great to meet you all too. For those that missed it, too bad, Screeminrolla showed us some great roads out his way :). We also scared a WRX, the usual Commodore driver and this guy in a Mazda3 who didn't know what was going on when 4 stivos came screeming by 2 either side... Made him jump I think... :P :P General concensus was we make the next one a day trip down the southcoast and run a few mountain passes and take in the scenary at the same time.... plus a few brilliant photo oportunities along the way. But we'll keep you all informed.... I'll post some pics from tonight too... :D
  7. Not to pick on your spreadsheet because it is pretty good, but the value you have is L/km not L/100km. You need to multiply by 100, that is all... But nice work anyhow. hmmmm... averaging 9.4, it would be interesting to know just what mine is, I wish I was that padantic at times
  8. I have to ask... i posted a thread back a little while now about a blue sportivo that parks near menai marketplace with trd stickers on it... is that you? ← No chance... I'm clean as... aka sticker and rice-less... Also don't tend to drive up to Sydney often, most likely train it in (cruises are of course an exeption!!!!) I just tend to drive the local streets down the Illawarra way.
  9. Was on a tour at ANSTO today at Lucas Heights with some Materials Eng people from Uni, came out of the materials testing building and low and behold there was a beautiful set of Stivo rims staring me in the face attatched to a well polished white Stivo. Does anyone in the forum work at ANSTO????? There was my Blue baby in the visitors car park along side a black Levin also that looked pretty sweet, but stock as a rock...
  10. If you think the S3 is similar to the Stivo you should check out the new Golf!!!!!! Funny how Audi and VW have the same parent company too!!!! They share many Styling, chassis and engine components.
  11. I'm still good... anyone else? Ignore comments earlier, a run south would be good, unless there are more ideas from anyone :) :) ;)
  12. Quoted from the Euro Accord web site "i-VTEC engine The Accord Euro is equipped with a 2.4-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine, producing 140 kW of power @ 6,800 rpm and 223 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm. Honda has used drive-by-wire technology to improve response and acceleration, whilst achieving extremely impressive fuel economy and low emissions." http://www.honda.com.au/Accord/Euro/Euro/index.htm I think the one you looked at was the vti model which is a different shape to the Euro, built in Japan and more expensive as such and not the i-VTEC engine. The Euro's are built in Thailand by memory, but I could be wrong....
  13. Yeah sorry, drove one of them too... Very smooth ride and very quiet, completely different car to the stivo, not as urgent in it's acceleration. But on comparison of what you got between the standard and the Luxury models, I knew wich one I wanted and couldn't justify the $42,000. Also I was not looking for a mid size car, I like the size of the stivo so it won there too. If I was to get a mid size car I would have gone for the Liberty RX anywho...
  14. I was allowed a levin sedan do drive around for a few days while my car was having some warranty work done to it (melted bumper skirt, posted previously) and I can tell you that there is very little difference between the 1zz and 2zz at lower RPM (1-4K). The biggest difference I felt was of course in Lift :) and the cornering in the 1zz is not even close to that of the sportivo. It felt extremely soft and the car had only 600 k's on it. This was also well before the ECU recall so I don't really know how they would compare now, but I would assume the 2zz to now have the edge.
  15. I think the review was fair. You really do need to drive the car hard to get the most out of it, which some people don't like.... but I love... :D :D He is right about the understeery nature of the car, even with electronic break force distribution and ABS I find it tough to find the Apex on some downhill runs, or maybe I'm just going in to fast!!!!! :P :P :P But some suspension modification I'm sure will easilly put an end to this, plus slightly wider tyres.
  16. It all comes down to personal choice in the end so I suggest you test as many cars as you can and see which suits you best. I tested a few before going for the stivo. There was the stivo, citroen xsara VTS, Pug 206 GTi (not the 180 though as that was still 3 months away at the time), Subi impresa RX, Mazda 6, SP20 (again 23 was still 5 months away), Proton satria GTi, Focus 170, Astra turbo and for something a little different, nissan X-Trail, in case I felt like sticking with a 4x4. I narrowed it down to the Citroen and the Stivo for fun and enjoyment to drive. The stivo pulled like nothing else and the citroen handles better then anything I have ever driven before, very stiff, direct and no hint of understeer even when braking very deep into corners. But at the end of the day the Stivo was the only one that put a smile on my face that lasted plus It had 5 doors rather then 3 and I felt the build quaility was better in the Stivo (for a european car the Xsara was very plasticy) I also took my dad and bro along with me in each and they said the Stivo was far and a away the best comfortable in the rear seats (other then the x-trail and 6 of course as these are different styles of car). I also compared running costs, servicing costs, fuel economy, insurance rates etc and the Stivo won hands down....
  17. hmmmmmmm I wonder if you can cut and mold a cradle into the dash just to the left of the intrument panel between it and the stereo (that looked like it was meant to be there) and wire in a car kit to the bottom of it so you can get into the car, sit, place the phone on the dash and have it staring at you like a head up display... and if you have an MP3 capable phone can this be wired in to the car kit to play through the stereo????
  18. Earlier would also be better, the best time for good photo shots is in late afternoon so would give ua a chance to not only see each others rides but to get some great shots in a brilliant location (photo ops at Homebush rock but coordination of the cars is a challange) EDIT: maybe we could meet early say 5-5:30 and for those that want to meet and show and maybe some pics and stay local with the cruize for those that can't make it til later. I agree.... the mountain passes down here rock, but some of the best runs are very narrow low visiblity in the best conditions so could be a bit dangerous for a night cruise. For a coastal sight seeing cruise it would be OK though and some passes are doable but like I said, some of the more narrow roads can wait for a day trip I think when the scenary (esp Kangaroo Valley B) ) can be best appreciated.
  19. Remember this is a custom system.... I have a mate with a skyline that spent almost $2K on a custom stainless exhaust (turbo back, so included a high flow cat though), but I think $1000 isn't as bad as it sounds (you don't have to go stainless and save yourself a little, but lifetime is generally shorter, you get what you pay for!!!!) but like Ilivfor6 said, a dyno showing before and after data would go a long way to convince more people, I'd also like to see what the change, if any more/less, in torque the is down around 3-4K RPM, as that is also where most of my daily driving is done.
  20. I really wanted RPM-09K but it's already gone.... :( :( :( <_<
  21. This is the model they use in South Australia. The log book system similar to pilots, where people gradually learn each skills (around 28 by memory ranging from gear changes and cornering to parking skills and heavy traffic to higher speed driving (80) on open country and hilly roads and even dirt roads in country areas) by repetition with a trained instructor and gradually pass their way to a license, no test needed, though the final lesson is a 45 min drive around similar to the test where the instructor says nothing but directions and perhaps a observer to monitor the instuctors credability. You can see an improverment in the skills of the drivers over the 10 years it has been in place but like I said previously, they also seem to be more confident (not such a bad thing in heavy traffic as it allows greater traffic flow when people think) and as such at times more cocky (not so good because they become reckless)...
  22. Get your point, but so am I.... (it's hard for me to see the wheels when I'm inside that car).... :D :D :P
  23. My guess is they did a rotation but no balance and alignment 1st off
  24. My car in not lowered but I still notice this... I'm by no means a 'big' person either (176cm and ~70kg)
  25. Defensive driving courses can also work against... They teach you the limitations of your car and your skills and people can ofter come out feeling more cocky and indestructable as a result thinking that doing the cause instantly makes then a better driver, when in fact it is a mental process that unfortunately some people only learn the hard way... I too feel very sorry for the family and friends of those killed and injured.
