  1. So when are the Canberra crew going to do an outing to the Bates' workshop and have a look see??? If I was down there I 'd certainly be wanting to go and have a look at the cars and their set up up close. Don't you and Micky have some "insiders" and some connections there to make it happen?? Just a thought boys. Of course you will have a to post up a lot of pics !!!!
  2. Why Black and be like all the other sheep out there....(waiting for flames...) 4K is cheap for a respray though. Depends on what level of finish you want.
  3. Have a look in my garage for how well the proper cailper paint lasts. I painted mine when the car was only 2 days old and in the 3 and a half years that i owned it i only repainted them once. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...tem&CID=419
  4. My question is how available are replacement parts for it? And does Aus spec 3S gte parts fit it(filters etc etc) I for one would be quite keen for one at the prices you have stated.
  5. So when are you going to become a "dyno queen" Bill?? But like you said your car is driven with that power figure day in day out. Congrats mate!! It's all finally starting to come together!!! Now I guess the next challenge is to knock off CES' turbo sportivo...... only 12 odd kw to find
  6. Trader rating points system. If you buy trade with another member you can rate the sale. On a ponts scale sort of thing where 1 is the best and 10 the worst. did the sale go smoothly? did you get your purchase in good time? did the seller communicate with you?? All those sort of things. Would be good to see something like that after i have had a few members ripped off on here in the last 6 months after paying and the goods not turning up. Member of the month section!!!! Motorsport section - for those to put threads about drag racing, circuit etc etc toyota related or if they are competiting themselves.
  7. I got the same but he was looking for something in Sydney.
  8. agreed!^^^ ;) If you installed yourself, your insurance is not covered what a load of ****. well it's important - but more important is...how hard is it? do you need lots of like insanely expensive tools? is there a DIY posted?? :D it would be awesome to do it myself - but i'm a little freaked at touching anything myself...'cept maybe the dash lol... is there a book on how to mod the levin sx?? it's bloody easy. all you need is a set of good sockets, spring compressor and common sense. though an air compressor would make things 10x easier. Some sort of pry bars, rubber mallet, jack, stands, CRC for hard to remove bolts, know how to remove boot trim without breaking all the clips. There is a lot more to it than some seem to think. And I personally have done a hell of a lot of springs on corolla's and you will have some cars that everything is just plain easy to remove. Others have bolts done up that tight that even the rattle gun wont budge so break out the 500mm breaker bar and impact sockets and put 100kg's of SB on the end of it to remove. Some put up a fight but most eventually give in LOL. The last car I did had one of the strut top 13mm nuts done up that tight that when we put pressure on the nut to remove it it just rounded off. It took nearly an hour to remove it by splitting the nut delicately with a chisel. Somebody got a bit carried away tightening it to the point of where it had welded itself to the thread. I got it off and run a die over the thread and it was then good as gold. So sometimes you will need more than just some good sockets and spring compressors.
  9. Mate contact CES here in Brisbane Australia as I know they have sent exhaust systems overseas before for the Sportivo. Tell them what you are doing and see if they can help you out. http://www.cesracing.com.au/ All their contact details are on the website.
  10. CES ported headers with stock downpipe match ported and tidied up would be the best option. Did you say the rest of your system is 2"??? If so then that is prolly killing it as well. From the cat back you should be going 2.5" to the rear of the car. CES also do a cat back for the sportivo as well and many many members of this forum have that system fitted to their sportivos. With the above system fitted to your car there is no tuning needed. Viper branch?? Never heard of them. How much did this set up cost you???
  11. CES don't have an off the shelf system for an 89 Seca. They're aren't the sort of car or model you get a lot of people wanting an aftermarket system for. I always ahve a bit of a laugh when people say "sports exhaust" and where to get one. I always say maybe a sports shop perhaps or what sort of sports exhaust are you after?? Cricket /Football/basketball LOL. But seriously I very much doubt you will get something off the shelf unless it is just a replacement of the factory fitted system so it will have to be made.
  12. Woah...dude... Did you either crash it, or is the ACT losing you? It's heading To Kebab Performance the Sydney office of RBT Motorsport for a few enhancements. Rob make sure Bill uses a seat cover when he works on your car or you'll end up with homus and garlic sauce all over your seats
  13. Good on you morons but there is a white sportivo in a line of cars early in the story. And I know i wasn't seeing things as my wife even spotted it and joked about it being one of my "Corolla buddies" as she calls them....
  14. Unfortunately as mods we all dont read every section nor spam every thread:)
  15. I would not go near the things test drove a H3 to have a look see, quality was so bad I was worried about it making it back to the dealership intact, absolutely woeful. Then the handling is also completely crapola. being that is a big friggen 4WD I dont think it was designed to be a handling mobile. Plus it's american made so there's your answer on quality fit and finish. Mish i thought you would have bought a convertible hot pink Vw Beetle(new one) and drove around with the top down and your music blarring to drown out the screams from your kids
  16. I've upset a few pretty boys in Cooper S' in my Sportivo. I tell you they didn't like it one little bit either....
  17. Like I said if you can drive then you will definately scare the ******* out of him Hell Northy had a run with a works edition and there was nothing in it.
  18. On the news tonight the Police did a lock dwon of the broady carpark and went through everyone's car. Also did drug tests and breath tests too. The footage they showed on the news has a highway patrol car blocking the entrance and then officers goin through the cars one by one and checking all the usual stuff. Well the camera panned out from under the bonnet of a car and about the 3-4th car in the line up was a white pre facelift(i think) sportivo lowered on stock rims and tinted windows. OK now to find out who it was and did you get pinged for anything?????
  19. 1. possibly CV joint. 2. dry horn contacts 3.dry door hinges(lubrication needed) 4. Toyota would be your best bet or your local mechanic.
  20. What is a Chilli??? If it's a stock cooper S then you will beat it as I have done so on a few occasions. the only Mini you prolly wont beat and if you do it's because they were a crap driver is the works edition. you wont get thrashed but it will beat beat by a lil bit.
  21. My personal preference would be the TJM one.
  22. Yes they can go on the beach but remember your ground clearance is quite limited compared to say a Hilux, Landcruiser etc. As far as tyre pressures go drop them to about 17-22psi as a guide. Softer sand may require slightly less pressures but most tyres fitted to a RAV wont like running at these pressures for long. So carry a portable air compressor and pump them up once your through a soft area. General driving on the beach should be relatively straight forward. But try to do it at low tide. High tide will be harder especially when you are higher on the beach in the softer stuff and minimual ground clearance. Most tracks so long as they dont have really high centres should be ok but be prepared to drag your guts in a some spots as things like the exhaust and some plastic shrouds do hang a bit low. Good luck and post up saome pics when you get out on the beach. cheers SB
