  1. Are there any brandname headunits around with built in HDD (hard disk drive)? I have been looking but so far I am unable to find any. I am not looking for a carputer but a headunit with a built in hdd for music storage, similar to the what I understand to be the jdm audio options for Tarago and several european luxury cars avaialable here (incl. Aston Martin)
  2. I have cleaned up and have a few bits and pieces for sale on ebay. More than happy to reach arrangment outside of ebay with any club members who are interested Camry Headlight Switchgear Make an offer Oil Cap Make an offer Radiator Cap Make an offer Foglight covers for non-foglight models Make an offer Base model handbrake Make an offer Corolla Oil Cap Make an offer Tarago Steering Wheel Make an offer Oil Cap Make an offer
  3. Kept mine around 36 and wore out on the edges, now run at 41
  4. Love the back side on can see Subuaru themes prefer the old front to the new, but with the right engine it would easily grow on me
  5. Fitted the TRD blue brake pads (the TOM'S big brake kit, with 6pots up front was just a little too pricey) now combined with the new Pirelli P7's the Tarago stops a hell of a lot better
  6. Picked up a set of Pireli P7's for the Tarago, hopefully they will work a bit beter than the Bridgestones it came with
  7. I also did both the course and the test at this location. When you pay your money at the RTA for your L's they give you a number to ring (or probably a website these days - the internet had not taken off back then) to find the course locations. I found the instructor I had was realistic and down to earth the key thing that he drummed in to us apart from make sure you buy good gear (helmet, gloves, boots and leathers) was "there is no point being in the right if you are in a coffin". The disturbing thing in going from a car (4.0L six)to a bike (250cc four) was the difference in revs. The car didn't go to 6000rpm where as the bike was not alive below 8,000 (it redlined at 16,000rpm). All in all it was a hell of a lot of fun and I do miss it
  8. Nice one, long time no hear, hope all is well :) What about whats under the dash like vents and stuff? direct replacement for the SX panel or is there more involved? Not sure will find out when I change it over. The Toyota GPS install manuals from Europe show there being two types of duct one I have seen onfor front only and one for front and rear though some of the images of Aust cars show the ducting is compatable. Interestingly in Japan it is only the 1.5L Auris that have the flow to the back and not the 1.8s no idea why though
  9. Along a similar line does anyone know anything of the in-spare sub-woofer option? It is available in Europe as part of the JBL Premium Sound option.
  10. Tarago - Had it's turn at Service (Corolla was last Friday and Camry is next week) Camry - Picked up a set of Grande chrome exterior door handles Corolla - Ordered the facelift ZRE Levin ZR A/C panel(the one that goes on top of the dash tp put air to th back)
  11. Does anyone know who the manufacturer was for the Toyota Genuine optional lowering springs for the Gen5 Camry? The kits are no longer available from Toyota and I was just curious who the manufacturer was in case they still made them for aftermarket sales. I am looking for something of decent quality that doesn't harshen up the ride too much.
  12. When I start up my Corolla (pre facelift ZRE)the Follow Me II Nav Unit (the current style with the bigger screen) starts up and then shuts down and reboots I have just had it in to be looked at and the dealer advises me that they have been told by Fujitsu that this is normal. To me it seems more than a little strange and incredibly annoying for something that is not exactly a $100 special from Hardly Normal or the like. The dealer actually videoed the process and sent a copy to Fujitsu after having sent the Nav Unit to Fujitsu for testing and it coming back all clear. Has anyone else out there with a ZRE Corolla got the Follow Me II system and do you find the same problem?
  13. I went through the same question myself before I bought my Corolla, easiest way to decide is to take the two for a drive from the same dealership (and if you are intending to do much highway driving try and test them at a dealership where you can actually get highway time on the testdrive). As for dealers try Phil McCarroll or Castle Hill (not sure if either of these have demonstrators or not)
  14. Had the interior detailed on the Tarago after my eldest daughter threw up all over it on Sunday night
  15. I hope it lasts for more than just one model run I just renewed the lease on my ZRE Corolla for another 4 years, if I knew this was coming I would have made it shorter but then again maybe it will take a few years between being announced and actually appearing in showromms
  16. Had a new set of Adrenalins put on the Corolla and transferred the P7's to the old steel wheels from the Tarago for use as my snow wheels (ie. so the alloys don't get scratched up with snow chains). Had to go to another tyre place after finding one of the P7's had been put on around the wrong way (inside out) and it was too late to back to Bridgestone as they had closed for the day, this and the fact they used the steel wheel nuts (as I had been running out the old Adrenalins that were on the steel wheels) instead of the wheel nuts for alloys so I had to change all of them over, made it too late for changing the brake pads and some suspension components on the Camry. Oh well maybe next weekend?
  17. The pic i put up is a pre-facelift... Didnt the ZZE T-Sport have a similar item in the engine bay, pretty much where the strut brace would go but one end joined the motor? What is a squirrel? The comment I had from Japan (via James at Castle Hill) was that the attachment points were not there on the pre-facelift export ZRE whereas they were present on the JDM version. Also these were greyed out on the English page before the relase of the facelift (and still are I think). There was an English version of the info sheet I will see if I kept a copy on my work computer and if so post it. I do like the name squirrel though much more intriguing than damper
  18. For those who hadn't noticed TTE or Toyota Motorsport are no longer selling parts direct one now needs to go through a European Dealer
  19. And now that Porsche and a few of the others are producing high performance hybrids (see link) http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-news/...00302-pdwl.html
  20. Previously when I upgraded wheels I kept the steel wheels with some rubber on them for use at the snow as I didn't want risk scratching my alloys with snow chains
  21. Thanks but I wanted to avoid having to use an i-pod, I still use CD's rather than downloads also don't want the hassle of having to take the sat nav with me
  22. I am starting to think I will need a SatNav for my Corolla, but I don't want to lose the in dash stacker (I could accept going down from 6 to 4 but was looking for a cheaper option than the Toyota full in dash unit). I have tried a few shops and websites and been unable to find any in dash stackers and only Pioneer and Kenwood appear (the salesmen have not been too confident) to offer a double din SatNav with seperate CD stacker option. Does anyone know of suitable units out there? I don't want a portable SatNav unit because I do not want to have to hide or carry the unit when parked outside I am after something brand name as I am looking for reliability I don't need/want DVD playback as I have a loungeroom for watching movies and most of the time it is only me in the car anyway My budget is enough to consider the Toyota in dash unit
  23. For those looking for the G Sports version http://cp.toyota.jp/customize/osaka-am2010...ncept-ft86.html
  24. There is apparently a Toyota towbar that fits that still allows you to use the sonars. If you are in Sydney try Phil McCarroll Toyota at Waitara I know they offer one
