  1. The sound could well have been a gilmer belt drive setup. They make their distinctive whining powerful noise as the valleys and peakes in the belt sqeeze little pockets of air out of the teeth in the various cogs on the engine componants. You can actually have a Gilmer belt drive setup put in most cars, supercharger or no supercharger, one of my mates had it in his Gemini, it sounded awseome............... it still went like a gemini though :P.
  2. This is a common misconception about fuel consumption. Its running at 4,000 rpm when you are sitting on 120 but remember your foot is only just touching the throttle, the harder you put your foot down, the more fuel and air mixture the injectors are ordered to squirt, just because its revving at 4,000 does not mean you are burning tons of fuel, revving at 1,000 with your foot flat on the throttle will burn more fuel than just cruising at 4,000.
  3. I reccomend a search on these forums for the words "Clutch" and "Slip" a couple of us have written detailed instructions on how to land lift without flat changing or losing traction. I also showed one person and he was quite happy with the benefits :). Orbit, its not impossible, so long as the revs are at 6,200 then all is fine, a little bit of clutch slipping (just like when you first take off) and you can balance the revs at 6,200 until the wheels catch up to the engine revs :). Slipping the clutch doesn't = losing tractions, they are two very different things and slipping the clutch gives you more effective control of the power, losing traction means you have no control over how the power gets down until traction is regained.
  4. It would look pretty sweet though I reckon :P
  5. Should this thread really be posted on here? I think this could have been done over PM's I just see potential for this to blow up .
  6. haha that's great! maybe you should get those number plates too ← WAS4BI :)
  7. Cascade Blue 02 Rolla Sportivo, he is called Sammy. I talk to him and I apologise to him if I do anything that might hurt him.
  8. He got out of the car and started to approach me as the barriers went up at the tolls, Sammy (my Sportivo) left 2 black marks and got out of there real quick :). He wasn't road raging because he hit my car, he hit my car because he was road raging, he had the poos with me before and was yelling abuse, when I refused to pull over and decided to stick my finger up at him I think it bothered him slightly, this was why he rammed me at the toll's :P. It all started because I had to get to work for an 8am conference call with the USA and I was being held up by this guy doing 75 in the fast lane of a motorway, I dropped from 6th to 3rd and gunned it past him, I think that upset him but I can't see how, especially enough to inspire road rage. About 5 K's later, he comes flying up behind me then pull up alongside me hooting his horn and yelling out the window to pull over so he can "Smash my face in". I put up with it for 30 seconds before I tired of it and gave him the finger and planted my foot down. 1 K later, in the tolls, he comes in the booth behind me, I pay my toll and wait for the barrier to rise, he rolls his car into mine and then gets out and tells me to get out so he can smash my face in, barrier went up, I took off. Good thing is I made it to work for the 8am conference call ;) Don't ya love that ... he rams you, but its your face that needs rearranging! What happened after that? ←
  9. Im not 100% sure but I think I was the first on the forums to do lift in 6th, I guess that would be my record :). I remember posting about it eons and eons ago only to be outdone a few weeks later by someone posting the report of lift in .................. REVERSE :P
  10. I think I may be the first Sportivo owner recipient of road rage, some ****** rammed me this morning and told me to get out so he could rearange my face :).
  11. Lowering the lift kick in would not help you. Lift effectively locks the valves open at maximum capacity, if you were to do this before your revs are up high you would effectively flood your motor. Having no reread your email it seems you only want to lower by 500rpm. Why so?? is this to hold lift on the 1 - 2 change?? if so there are threads on this forum explaining how to hold lift on the change without needing to lower where lift kicks in. I believe from posts on here a new exhaust system on our cars makes little difference (Can someone else confirm this, im just going off my memory of what I have seen posted on here).
  12. Mine is Cascade Blue, it was covered in swirlies from the day I got it................ I kind of don't really care. I mean its a car and is going to get scratched, I have multiple minor scratches in the side from people in the supermarket. As much as it sucks what can you do really.
  13. http://www.driftgame.com.au/
  14. I purchased a set of light up door sills on a group buy, thats gotta get me at least 6 extra KW at the wheels :P
  15. Hehehe no man, when I said it was worthy, I didn't mean I will do it, I don't have any mods on mine.......... except a sports grill :P. Im 30 years old man, my days of modding stopped when I sold the Mini :).
  16. But realistically you can do comparisons the other way and say Well $40K for a Turbo Stivo against an Astra turbo which costs the same :). There are points on both sides of this fence :).
  17. I particularly liked how they specifically stated that the pwerformance gain was against a stock motor, I wouldn't want to buy this if it meant I had to do extra internal mods, I thought the price was pretty good for a full turbo conversion kit :).

  19. Use the deposit to pay the Stivo off, go to Aussie or some of the other mortgage places that do rentbuster mortgages, purchase house, pay mortgage and enjoy driving the Stivo at the same time :).
  20. Hehehe M4 all the way..................... to Strathfield ;).
  21. Or if you are sneaky like me you can still have some fun with it ;) just read only for now. coz i prefer it wasn't altered for now. u can still alter the rpm cell tho. ←
  22. If someone posts the jingle, I can put it into the 4 common formats (MP3 Mono, MP3 Stereo, AMR and AMR Wide band (AWB)) and host them on Ausxbox and whack them in the sportivo ringtone thread (check the top of the corolla forum) Cheers
  23. To be honest, I would have liked to have seen a Sportivo Wagon I would have bought that over the hatch anyday.
