  1. Yep I'd have to agree with the "Door" fuse too... not something that I've seen happen before though. I've blown fuses when replacing tail lights and the likes, there's a few to choose from... it should be in the driver side kick panel there. Been a while since I had to look in there though. If not, ask Dave (SupaTouring), he's pretty cluey with this stuff as well.
  2. Hahaha... yep, they fit alright... Daryl (DJKOR) confirmed the stud pattern with me... I know lots about Camrys, he knows lots about Aurions, so I thought I'd check with him :P So far so good mate :)
  3. My bad, didn't see what engine he had... yeh, Premium fuel won't make a difference, if anything, it'll run rich. Had a friend in front of me on an Auscam cruise a year ago running 100 octane on his 4 banger... all I could smell was FUEL. Even windows down didn't help, lol... Rear swaybar apparently is the best mod by far for the Camry in the way of any upgrade. Makes one hell of a difference going from my car to another car with one in it... mind you, I'm comparing two Gen 3s together. Considering you have the Sportivo, which has much better suspension than say, the Altise... you'd notice a bigger difference if you had the Altise.
  4. Yeh dude, know whatcha mean... makes ya wonder why they make such useless head units... I did mine the opposite way. I put the new H/U in and wondered if it would be worth replacing the rear speakers? I gave them a BELTING because I was replacing them the next day... I couldn't fault them, they sounded awesome and handled the extra power.
  5. Well mate, best mods - 98 octane fuel, good service and making the thing SPOTLESS. After that, I'd be getting some nice suspension... these things are like boats. Stock suspension sucks **** heaps bad. You can then get the whiteline rear swaybar and front strut brace too. There's a few things to look out for as you can see.
  6. Yeah, I asked "wow, 1k? don't they make off the shelf extractors for these?"... he said No, lol... only the 4 bangers so yeah. My guess is that they woulda been mandrel bent custom made extractors for my 3VZ, and that was fitted. There shouldn't be any reason why they'd be more expensive.
  7. Just wait for the huge difference in sound quality... speakers musta performed 3 x better after swapping in my Panasonic HU...
  8. HOLY CRAP - huge difference mate. Spose you asked the question and answered it all in one go there..
  9. $2200 for a set of extractors? Wow... I got quoted for around 1k fitted? What's the difference? Obviously different type of material... but shouldn't be THAT much should it?
  10. Hahaha... a bit more fuel... considering it's near twice the size of the Pulsar... wouldn't be surprised! They're a nice car... they're one of the ones that if you treat it nice, it'll treat you nice. Simple as that.
  11. NICE! That IS Dan's car... used to be owned by Chris (when these pics were taken), Dan's had it for around 2 years or thereabouts. Goes like a rocket :P Cheers for the pics - didn't know they existed.
  12. Looks like my mate's Gen 4 3SGTE? How'd you get a pic of that mate? That thing goes well... hehehehe... considering it's not a 96, it's a 98, it's a 2.0L 4 cylinder 3SGTE turbo from a GT4 Celica. You'll see him on Auscam, his username is GCCL.
  13. Hey mate, Any particular mods you wanting? Best things for our Camrys are suspension, rims and exhaust... amongst other things (HID retrofits etc) so yeah.
  14. Yeah mate, two bolts in centre console, two between centre console and shifter, a couple of clips on the inside of the footwells and a bit of fart arsing around. Had to do this to fit some genuine Toyota cup holders a few months ago.
  15. I think... that maybe the oil can get into the pistons and burn up in there. You'll see burn marks if you ever take it apart. If you're gonna get it turboed (awesome), either get another engine or see if it's worth getting the engine fixed. I would be getting another engine in the meantime, building it up nicely and then getting the turbo fitted to a stronger engine... would be a lil powerhorse from then mate!
  16. So... is the oil empty again or what mate? You've said you've topped it up... but now it's doing it again?? Any oil or what? I reckon you'd have one of two things: either burning and not knowing about it, or a leak of some sort. If it's leaking - look around the rocker cover for any leaks... might not exactly drip onto the floor. Also check the coolant as well... sometimes there can be a sign of oil in the overflow reservoir.. can be brownish or something like that. If it's burning - you'll probably not notice it too much just letting the car idle. I'd go for a proper drive, have someone drive behind and check it out. You use decent oil at all? Might wanna look into the good stuff if you don't already.
  17. Adam should be able to point you in the right direction... (that's ASG14). it's been done before, there shouldn't be too much of a worry otherwise. You should also check some performance shops... see if there's any centrifugal superchargers that can be fitted to the car. More pricey than the TRD one, but should give more boost...
  18. There's a guy that I knew that was about to do the conversion... bought the turbo and everything. He had the piping sussed out and everything. LittleDavey83 on Auscam knows a bit about this because he was going to do the turbo swap down the track one day. The only hiccup I can see you having is custom mounting the FMIC and getting the turbo in. The custom piping will be an interesting install too. I think you'll have to move the battery to the boot to make enough room for the turbo and all that. If you can find a 3SGTE and get that rebuilt, you might find that to be more straight forward and maybe cheaper? They go fkin quick! Been in 2 x 3SGTE Camrys and they go like a rocket! hahaha
  19. You'll find that most people will make it into a "kit", all the parts needed to do the job. At the end of the day, you're gonna need some advice from SupaTouring and A... as I said before, the installation here on the Aussie Camrys are a tad different.
  20. This is gonna be my next mod too... should be interesting to see what difference it makes. Prob more noticeable for people who don't have the Touring Series Camrys... my Tourer came with 17mm swaybar instead of the stock 15mm ones, plus the Tourers are lower in the back.
  21. You have the 1MZ engine - you'll be sweet with a TRD Supercharger. You'll never find one here in Australia... check Ebay or hit up ASG14 either on here on at www.auscam.org. Adam's a good friend of ours (referring to Auscam) and he lives in the US. I think there's like 3 or so for sale in the states right now... can be sent over here and installed easily enough... they're almost "bolt on". There's a couple of mods that need to be done on the Aus Spec Camrys... I think it involved relocating the brake master cylinder or something like that. The best person to get this info with be "A" aka Anthony or "SupaTouring" aka Dave. Dave's installed these a couple of times, both of these lads have one... Dave's upgraded to a TRD Aurion though :P lol... Turboing would be kewl... never seen a turboed 1MZ in Australia yet. Search for "Tony the Tiger" on Youtube... you'll see a fully custom built 1MZ with a T50R turbo installed... *drools*. Let us know if you need anything else mate.
  22. Yeah, the Green stuff is useless... always run the Toyota LLC stuff, works a treat. Make sure that the caps on the radiator and filler area are good too... get all the bubbles out and she'll be sweet.
  23. Another one will pop up soon enough... they always do when you're lookin for one.

    3vz-fe

Rated one of the best engines made by Toyota, these things can handle double their stock power without having to forge the pistons or anything like that. I'd suggest to read those topics from Trent's post... I've read them a few times as I have the same engine in my Camry too.
  25. These Camrys are normally pretty rock solid... you'll get the issues that Lateralus said... maybe read up about others that use the 1MZFE engine too (Gen 4 Camrys and also the Solaras in the States). They know the 1MZs inside out over there as they were also put in the Gen 3s too.
